1:37:58. I've been able to train a lot more this year, so it was not really a big surprise for me

I finally signed up for the local races. My first race, a 6km street race, is on monday with the remaining races takes place in august and september.
I'm very excited for my first race and I'm really looking foward to seeing how I'll cope with the level. There's usually 2-300 participants each race and I should be able to aim for a top 30, maybe 20, but I go in with no expectations.

Ran a 5K street race today and finished 6th out of about 200. I actually was sick so I did stop twice during the race, had one of my worst times ever at a 20:11, but still won first in my age group (15-19).

I have no idea where I stand, but I feel better than I did at this point last year. Last year I didn't start training until april/may and in late july I ran a 5k of 18:21.
This year I started earlier (had actually "retired", but made a comeback) and got back into training in early april. My main goal is simply to get back to last years form and then I'll take it from there.
I'm optimistic since I have always been without too much training during the winter, only this time I ended the year in much better shape than ever before, I got back earlier and I've never been more motivated.

Since you're discussing 5k times, I have to mention a kid at my high school (he's a sophomore) who ran a sub-16:00 5k during cross country. Sub 16!!! He's a total animal. |

I read on Runners World a few weeks back about a 10 year old who ran a 1.37 half-marathon setting a new world record for that age recognized by a certain association.
The "proper" world record is still 1.20, though, as not all associations recognize the same results due to age limitations. Still, a 1.20 half-marathon are age 10 is insane, atleast to me.

In too. Still, knowing they had a facebook PCM.Daily page closed a couple of times, it might be smart to ask them (but who's 'them' now that Crue True is not the top admin any more ?) for a green light. |

I didn't think it would be a problem because its not an "official PCM.Daily" page. I said in the description its a fan page for members of PCM.Daily... I think we will be fine.

Well, my first race ever, a 6k street race, ended with a 63rd place overall, 30th in the Male 16-30-group and 9th in the club, final time was 24:28.
It was very windy with a tailwind during the first half before we turned and headed back the same route. I'm happy with the first 4k, but I was way to cautious on the last 1-2k.
I was in a group with two others and I was trying to stay behind them due to the strong wind, but two guys came up to us and then left us behind. I should have followed them, but didn't have the guts. It ended with a sprint finish between me and two others, but it wasn't a problem. I held them off and had tons to spare in the sprint.
All in all, I'm pleased. The time sucks, but I'm still focused on getting back to my form from last year where I did a 5k of 18.21 in late July. I feel better now than I did last year, so I'm very motivated.

It appears I have finally recovered from my patella tendon tear in February! I will be off the treadmill and running on grass and track surfaces starting next week. I will be running a 5K and 15K in consecutive days in July that will be a good benchmark to see where my form is at. I'm hoping I can have a solid summer of training to push for new 5K and 8K PRs in cross country this fall! |

I was wondering if the fellow from Ireland in our running club is miggi133. Quickly googling the guy's name doesn't quite match what miggi's story. I've not seen anyone else from Ireland in this topic.
I'll probably take part in a 5k race Friday evening, I wonder if I'll be able to beat the 18:00's mark. Those short events are a bit too fast for my old legs.
From memory of what I've read in this topic, anything under 18:01 could be counted as PCM.daily's best ?

I'm a runner as well, I mainly run 1500m to 5000m and I run about 4 times a week. (16 years old btw)
Records:
800m: 2.11
1500m: 4.28
3000m: 9.49
5000m: 16.42
But since he didn't logged in since last year you would still have to beat my time which is under 17:30

So much for setting a best 5k next Friday... It's actually opened to women only.
It'll be a 10 k instead. Erm, 38:10 or something then ? |

Just had a freshman meet, ran a decent 58.98 in the 400 m. Track is done now, so it's time to get some base miles for XC. |

I'm back in my hometown and I'll be staying here for two months in more familiar surroundings. I'm looking forward to filling the days with alot of training on my good old home turf. I see this as a bit of a leisury training camp
I'll be doing a 5k test run sometime next week to see where I'm at and if my sub 18.20 goal is a feasible one.
