kinda cool both have crossovers of characters but vikings super time spread. the time frame has gone from 760 to about 980ish and some of the main characters are still alive.
I've been on a little bit of a Foreign Language binge/catch-up over this weekend. Couple of recommendations:
1) Belle
Aka Belle: The Dragon and the Freckeld Princess. A visually and aurally stunning anime from Studio Chizu, who imo are currently the best animatino studio in the world (Mirai, and The Boy & The Beast are also excellent, and Wolf Children is good). The 3rd Act is a little mixed with a few too many elements to wrap up satisfyingly, although when it hits it hits at a pure 5* level. First two acts are clear 5*, just wonderful! Smart film, great scripting, clever animation, and a soundtrack i can't shift from my head. A must watch.
2) Another Round
Look, it won The Best International Picture at most major Western awards. It is genuinely that good. Haunting, full of life, a career best performance from Mads Mikkelson, and a primary song i also can't get out of my head. Completely worth watching, even just to enjoy the crispest of direction and editing on display.
3) The Worst Person In The World
This was my pick for Academy Award this year, and that Renate Reinsve was not nominated for Best Actress is a disaster. She is phenomenal, and cinematography is top class. Very funny, wickedly clever, a gem of a film to be truly enjoyed.
Wanted to drop this recommendation here: Arcane is a series based on the game League of Legends. I never played it but loved the show, so it's definitely not a must to have played the game.
The music choice in the show (first season on Netflix, 2nd in the making) is pretty awful imo, but other than that, it's a surprisingly good show, with a story that flows well and builds up well and well-rounded, interesting and original characters.
Check it out if you have the time, only 9 episodes, about 40 mins each!
