exactly what I said about Armstrongs after rest-day improvement.
By the way, I'm still waiting for Sanchezs usual inexplainable bad day in the Tour.
It'll come. Just wait. |

Another random thought:
Menchov is always awful the day after a rest day.
He didn't lose a ton of time, so he might still get the last podium
place.
Then again, the next rest day is just before the Tourmalet, so maybe he's screwed

Menchov, Samuel Sanchez and Andy Schleck my 3 favourite riders now after Valverde's ban, and all 3 of in the top 4, and I think they will stay there Sanchez is looking really good.

Must say as an Aussie im absolutely gutted right now. Hard to take those scenes of Cadel crying at the end. Sure i know he's not the best rider in the tour, but this guy cannot get a break (no pun intended).
I absolutely hate Schleck and Contador, so im barracking for Menchov. |

I really like this thought

EDIT:
Also, Armstrong massively improved after BBM. WHO WOULD'VE GUESSED???????
Me, me! But in my opinion, you have to consider two ways of looking at it:
1) Armstrong is two days after a crash (look how it affected Evans), had a truly awful day on Stage 8, and his "real" level right now is about what he showed today (Basso-after-already-winning-the-Giro level, or maybe without any lingering crash affects Leipheimer-level).
2) Armstrong has lost all ability as a top climber, and only manage to keep up with Basso/etc today because it was after BBM.
I think 1 is more likely right now, and that Lance is probably about the 10th best rider or so in this Tour. So while I certainly won't argue the benefits of a "rest" day for RS, I don't think it's necessarily fair to pin it all on BBM: After all, everyone else got the chance to "rest" as well

stat for the day: Cadel Evans got beaten today by Flecha
the top 2 slots on the podium are the top 2 in GC now, 3 minutes seems like a lot to pull back especially on the 2 great climbers that they are (TT aside with Schleck)
great descent by S Sanchez, wow... i felt scared watching that
epic stage, felt the need to be up till 2am to watch |

BBM??? Armstrong improved?!? I would hardly call that improvement. Improvement over Sunday? Yes, but he also did not crash at 50 km/h today. He could not hang with Levi and Lance is a better climber than he is. He wheel sucked the entire way up the Madeleine. If he BBM Monday he would have done a better job today.
You guys are looking for evidence to support your theories. It should be the other way around. Lance might have doped before but he looks clean now. He looks human not the machine from a few years ago.

That was an astounding stage - I'm incredibly impressed with Sammy Sanchez, he looks really in form this Tour. In the absence of Cadel I shall now support him I think. |

Fun fact about crashes: If nothing's broken, they tend to not affect you much on the day. The day after, however, is much worse. And the day after that is usually the worst of all.

Ah the "he's not dominating everyone and he looks like he's suffering suffering so he can't be doped" theory. The complete absence of logic when dealing with doping never ceases to amaze me.
What's your next argument? "He's a nice guy so he wouldn't dope"?

same here..I dont see Lance is improved a lot. He with Samuel Sanchez had been weird and strong ride. But there with Basso and van den Broeck..after that hugh crash. Ok ride.
@binga .you hate Schleck and Contador..poor guy. This tour will be suffering for you..
Sami if yellow ...eeh. to far from reality. He should watch out Menchov to keep a podium place.
Levi still moving..

I dont get it. Why Samus ride is suprise for some? He is at his form of the season now. The best climbers in the world are Schleck and Contador. (should written Contador first) But after them, i would mention Basso, Scarponi, Sanchez, Mosquera, Anton and Rodriguez (just dont know why Joaquin doesnt show it constantly). So it's not a suprise for me.
And you can wait till july 25th, Ruben. |

That man was clearly suffering on the picture. Could never have been on dope.

Samu's ride is kind of surprising because is really, really strange to see him doing that good in the first week of a GT. He's usually with the best, or the best, in the 3rd week, but for then he normally has already lost time enough to not be a podium threat (Tour) or to have very difficult to win (Vuelta).
On Armstrong. HE IS F*CKING 39. And some people see as normal that he hangs on with some of the best climbers of the world, two days after losing 11+ minutes. Meh. |

meh that 39 year old..has won 7 tours at the past..and was prepeared to go after another (this was more ego and illusion issue).
Even over 40 Cipo had some sprinting power left..not even close with top days..but still. |

So, you see as normal that a 39 yo man come back after a three years break, and still can hang on with some of the best of the world? Then we wonder why cycling has the bad reputation it has. |

Even Björn Borg remembered witch way he should hold a racket..when he was trying to make a come back.

The endurance of a 40-year-old man isn´t worth than a 25-year old man.
Watching the RAAM, the top-riders there are all 40+
And all cyclists have to ride a lot after they finished their carrers, because otherwise they´ll have heart problems so you can be sure he did a lot of (slow) training. But he may be doped, who knows?

Yeah, RetirementShack should invite one of those guys to win the Tour, having shown such performances before.
Oh wait, the RAAM is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT race, I didn't remember this. |

I know it´s different, but it shows that a 39-year-old man is still able to ride in the top and that the limit may haven´t decreased
