Of course there are much more. But you forgot Cadel Evans as a GC rider. Same as Schlecks, Contador...
So where are Menchov and Sastre. Last year they were always the first in 2nd group or crashes. |

congrats..you are most untalented signature make on this forum..
(wondering here..where these grazy norway fans hiding when are aint riding a tour)
You'll find a lot of them at vgd.no, innlegg.no or diskusjon.no. If you ever feel like venturing into the world of thirteen year olds visit those sites, basic understanding of Norwegian is necessary.
But in Norway the Tour de France have gotten a very big position in promoting cycling to the norwegian people. TV2 in Norway have created something that fascinate the Norwegian audience and make the come back for it every summer. It have been good for the popularity of cycling in Norway, many cycling fans because of TV2's focus on the TDF in July, but it has probably created even more Tour de France fans and in July they come out of their shell and go on and on about Lance and Thor.
TV2 also show several races outside of TDF, but they are not able to attract the same crowd that TDF got in Norway. But if they keep broadcasting races like Paris-Roubaix and other races eventually(I hope) we will end up with even more cycling fans, and hopefully less Tour de France fans that only show up in July and annoy the hell out of those who actually follow cycling year around. |

just seen race..been out all day...what a ridiculous decision to neutralize the stage. i find it hard to believe how sportsmen in competition can simply stop racing. Do cyclists never fall going downhill? what if it is a dry day and on the decent people crash will the stage be neutralized..i doubt it. cavendish and a number of sprinters could not stick with the peloton but those few who could lose out, it seems to have punished the stronger riders and rescued the weaker. the schlecks fell..anyone could in the next three weeks so why did the peloton stop...they have set a precedent i doubt very much we will see in the coming stages. |

good post hakab, good to see how cycling is coming along in Norway.
Just goes to show also that a little bit of TV coverage goes a long way.

That felt like the total truth for me too
Hopefully we will see a bigger and better "understanding" of cycling in Norway in the coming years. Because if they continue their broadcast of Paris-Roubaix, LBL, etc, I agree with you that the general understanding of cycling in Norway, got to be better |

Don`t understand it. Last year Milram was always on the ground. Today they managed it very well to avoid every single crash
Yesterday Ciolek was git by another rider but instead of falling like in every scene last year, he stayed on his bike but had a puncture. |

Contador says that he was the one who gave orders to stop racing: "It was a crazy stage, and when I heard that A. Schleck was behind, I ordered the peloton to wait. Had it happened to me, I would have wanted them to do the same for me" |

Hushovd is frustrated because he couldn't get more points for the green jersey . He already won a lot in stage 1 thanks to a crash and wanted to also benefit from a crash today... Not very fair play. Ok he might have noticed before the stage he could have made a good result there but he shouldn't complain, race circumstances helped him yesterday and not today!

Contador was in the second group, Cancellara, Evans and Menchov also waited for him at the front.

Quoted form cyclingnews.com
"Why should Cancellara decide?," the Norwegian questioned. "He's a rider like us." Hushovd and the Cervélo team were one of the few to not accept the decision of the yellow jersey to wait for some injured riders and then to prevent the sprint for second place from being contested. Jeremy Hunt chased behind Chavanel for a while.
"I've been riding all day for the stage win and the green jersey and I end up with nothing," Hushovd continued. "This is not fair. Will the same thing happen tomorrow? Will the times for GC be taken before the pavés sections? If Alberto Contador or another big rider crashes tomorrow on the cobblestones, he's entitled to ask for the race to be neutralised too! So when will we race, really?"[/b]

crashing is part of cycling and if he was to fall someone else would benefit..keeping upright is part of the job if you cant do it you should not be racing. |

That has nothing to do with well said. Hushovd is disappointed and so he's not able to analyze the situation. I don't blame him for that; it is normal if something goes wrong with your plans to overreact. But the main thing I wanted to say is that he is just talking BS. It was not Cancellara's decision, it was more of a suggestion. No one had to follow him; it was a democratic decision.
And yes, even in Pro-Sport you should take care of your health. And for tomorrow: Riding on cobbles is sports in contrast to ride on oil (if that is true)!

That just screams Cervelo tactics, but anyway.

Contador has some power. Considering he was in the group behind Cancellara with Armstrong at the time Cance's group decided not to race. Perhaps he has ESP. |
