Stage 1
Our "old" Belgian Sébastien Rosseler is the first rider to set a really fast time in the streets of Porrentruy. He needs 5'37 for the 4.3 kilometres.
But that time ain't good enough for the win, as Saxo's Lasse Bochman sets a surprisingly fast 5'36, 1 single second faster.
An other Scandinavian rider that finishes in 5'36. But Thomas Löfkvist (Sony Ericsson) is a few tenths of a second slower than Bochman and has to settle with the 2nd time.
This year, Wilco Kelderman will be the leader of the team in a GT for the first time in his career. He has showed already numerous times in smaller World Tour stage races that he can ride a very good GC, like 5th in Paris - Nice and 1st in the Volta a Catalunya this year. The road to glory in the Giro starts in the Tour de Romandie, as the 23-year-old Dutch allrounder is 1 second faster than Bochman: 5'35!
The last rider to start is Alberto Contador. ALthough being a great time trialist, 4.3 kilometres is too short for El Pistolero. Nevertheless, he sets the 6th time of the day, only 2 seconds slower than Kelderman, who wins the opening stage.

Word from the DS
Well, all I can say is that it is a perfect start of the Tour de Romandie for the team! STill, we don't know if we want to defend the leaders jersey already...

@ Ian Butler: And I've got the feeling, the other one will be succeeded as well, looking at Kelderman's fitness and skills.
@ Miguel98: Thanks. I Don't win that many prologues, so I'm happy with it.

Stage 2
34km to go
The 2nd stage from Porrentruy to Fleurier is a difficult one, as it features 3 categorized climbs, 2 of them 1st category and the last one 2nd category. That last summit, of the Mont de Buttes, is located 34km before the finish.
The BOTD, consisiting of 10 riders, arrives at the KOTM-sprint with a margin of 3'17 to the peloton. Jérôme Baugnies (Vacansoleil) wins the sprint, thus secures himself of the KOTM-jersey. Other "known" riders in this BOTD are Zdenek Stybar (Omega Pharma), Mauricio Ardila (Radio Shack) and Sébastien Minard (Garmin).
22km to go
The gap to the 10 leaders is decreasing (down to 2'29), when Alberto Contador attacks on a ascending part of the road. Wout Poels and Daniel Martin try to counter, while we are just continuing a high pace.
10km to go
Contador and friends get caught. Next to try to attack is Christophe Le Mével (Europcar), shortly before the descend towards Fleurier begins. The 10 leaders still have a margin of 48 seconds, to Le Mével, who gets countered by Contador and Fabio Duarte.
Finish
Le Mével and Contador manage to bridge the gap to the 10 leaders, before the sprint in Fleurier starts. Czech national champion Zdenek Stybar wins the sprint, in front of Le Mével and Minard. The peloton finishes in the same time, with Peter Sagan in 14th and Wilco Kelderman in 15th.

Word from the DS
Attempt 1 to kick Kelderman out of the leaders jersey has failed. But still, we stick to the plan of not defending the jersey to all costs. We don't want to waste the energy we need for the 3 weeks in Italy.

You kept the GC lead, so that's a good stage for the team. |

Good for Stybar, actually
It's wise not to defend the jersey at all costs. Though let's hope you can keep it anyway! |

Stage 3
34km to go
It is certain pretty soon after the BOTD has created a gap of a few minutes to the peloton, that they'll battle for the win today. We approve their attack, knowing that Kelderman will loose the GC-lead for now. And the other teams don't want to chase them, so the 8 leaders create a maximum margin of 11 minutes. This is the point we say that it is enough, and start to chase them a bit.
But Mauro Facci (Acqua et Sapone, best classified of the 8 at 2'23), Kim Kirchen (Sony Ericsson), Luis Felipe Laverde (Colombia), David Loosli (Lampre), Freddy Montaña (Colombia), Luca Pierfelici (Androni), Mark Renshaw (Rabobank) and Sébastien Turgot (Europcar) have a margin of 8'11 while ascending La Lorette for the 2nd time. Halfway the kilometre-long hill, Swiss David Loosli attacks.
Finish
Loosli is looking to win the stage, creating a maximum margin of 40 seconds. But the 7 cooperate pretty well, and the margin is decreasing when they approach the finish line in Fribourg.
Loosli starts to celebrate the win 100 metres before the finish, but realizes he has made a huge mistake, as het gets Zabel'd by both Mark Renshaw and Kim Kirchen. The Australian champ takes the win, already his 4th of the season, and poor/stupid Loosli finishes in 4th. Facci finishes in 6th and will take over the GC-lead!
A big crash occurs in the peloton 6km before the finish. You can see Janez Brajkovic his bikes in the air in the middle of the screen. Besides Brajkovic, also Intxausti, Kiryienka, Duarte and Van den Broeck loose some time (2'05) because of the crash.
The peloton finishes at 5'22, with Haussler beating Boasson Hagen, Rojas and Sagan in the sprint.

So, we've lost the leaders jersey. But the time gap won't be a real problem, with the 23km ITT coming up, as well as 2 mountain stages.

@ all: It's not only the ITT, but also the 2 mountainous stage. Probably the first 6 in the GC will loose the 3 minutes there. And Kirchen has weakend, I believe about 72-73 in Mo and TT
