Garmin Makes an Offer
We are 6th months into the season and I finally got an offer from the Team regarding my future with the team. They offered me 55,000 for 3 years as a Protected Rider. I'm not sure whether I will accept it or not. I'm a little disappointed that it took them so long to make an offer. Some teams have let me know they were interested including a bunch of Continental Team and a few big Pro Tour teams. I will let you know soon if I accepted it or not. The Dauphine is coming up soon also.

well then winner wasn't a surprise but a person with a 68 in TT finished 5th and someone with a 73 TT finished and the top 20 is filled with about 17 riders who are below a 73 in TT. While riders with high TT sucked. I checked form in Hannes and the good TT had good form. It's because it was supposed to be an 8km TT that was only 2km in race.

Stage 1
This is as short as a time trial as you will ever see. Stage 1
opens up with a 2 kilometer time trial that will decide who will wear the yellow jersey. The stage was supposed to be 8 kilometers but for some reason it was shortened at the beginning of the race. The 1st rider to set a good time was David Millar who went through setting a great time of 3'08.
Cancellara went soon after Millar but he disappointed and finished 38th 27 seconds back!
Zabriskie was the second rider from our team to go and he was in the stars and stripes of the USA TT Champion. He set a good time but was 4 seconds behind Millar.
At this point Roche was in 4th place. I knew that he was my biggest competition for competing in the Worlds TT Championships. I was accelerating the whole short 2 kilometers and surprised everyone, including myself by coming in 2nd place.
The time I gained today on the good time trialers, Devolder, Kreuziger, etc, will probably be lost on the longer time trial coming up but for now, I'm in great position.

Stage 2
Stage 2 is a flat stage that the sprinters will fight out amongst themselves. Our team has no sprinters so we will try to get a man in the breakaway. When the attacks began we sent Euser to try to join them but the peloton increased the speed and caught them within 10 kilometers. As soon as Euser was caught some more attacks came but this time we didn't get a man in the break. They built up a gap and due to high speeds in the breakaway there were two groups. A leading group of 4 and a chasing group of around 8.
Surprisingly the team that chased was Francais des Jeux.
It was no surprise that they were caught before the finish. Haussler was too strong and won the stage by more than a bike length.

Stage 3
Today's stage starts out flat but ends with a bunch of hills that should benefit the hilly specialists. Today's stage started with a large group of riders breaking away. The built up a huge gap of over 11 minutes with 70 kilometers to go.
They breakaway still had around 4 minutes when the bigger hills began. I was under the protection of Canadian, Ryder Hesjedal for most of the race.
Some of the favorites attacked and built a gap of around a minute. Some riders like Kreuziger and I were left in a chasing group of around 25 riders. Hesjedal was upfront of the group trying to pull back the leaders.
He was able to get the gap down to just over a minute which was very manageable for me. With 2 kilometers left the sprint began. Somehow my bike slipped and I fell hard to the ground unable to get up.
Upfront Efimkin took the stage win ahead of Lovkvist.
The race was over for me and this could possibly ruin my chances at racing in the Tour de France.

photobucket sucks. I don't know why it does that. Not that long. It says sometime late in June. I'm hoping before National CHampionships and TDF.

I decided to turn down Garmin's Contract offer. They immediately made another offer of 60,000 as a protected rider for 2 years. I'm gonna take a couple more days to decide. If I do decide to turn this one down I will wait to hear offers from other teams before I decide which team I go to.

I have decided that Garmin is the place I want to be. It's a great organization with a great group of riders. I will be with the team for at least 2 more years. They told me that I have a chance to be a leader of the team in future years. I'm excited to be returning with the team.

The team has made some huge signings early in the signing period.
Jonathan Bellis and Charlie Wegelius are the first two riders to sign with the team. The two Brits are great riders. While Wegelius is a proven stage racer with a lot of experience, Bellis is unproven and will develop into a great rider. Wegelius won the Route de Sud a couple weeks ago and Bellis has yet to have any major wins.
