He lost 37 seconds. I think he was involved in that one crash in the left-hander with the gravel on the right. |

I've improved it to make it more realistic.
But seriously, 1 stage doesn't make a rider a great sprinter - which is why you can only talk about a great sprinter after several seasons of sustained results in big races

Agreed. Maybe one day Cavendish will win a grand tour stage. Its highly likely that he'll manage it this year, but if he doesn't it'll likely happen one day. It won't be until after a few years we'll know his true potential.
So, why do people feel like they have to prove a point everytime Cav doesn't win - either for or against him?
Can no one seem to accept that he can't win every race? Similarly, people do realise he is only 22 and still learning his trade? Reality check people!

A little thing called mountains mean he won't win a GT, also the fact he is a sprinter and not a climber

I meant a stage of a grand tour. ops:
I'll edit my post accordingly
The worst part is, hes absolutely terrible at getting over the climbs at the moment, but he says he'll work on it.

Yes he is unbelievabley bad at getting over the climbs, but he fights on. He never wants to give up, as was shown last year in Catalunya where he was riding dead last on each mountain stage all on his own, yet he didn't give up. It's a start at least. Hopefully he can develop his climbing ability a bit to ensure his will power and tiny bit of climbing ability will see him through most mountain stages.
As of now, I definately don't think he has what it takes to finish a Grand Tour; I think he may very well get disqualified for finishing outside the allotted time towards the end of the 2nd week.
