that news item makes me happy and sad at the same time
it's good that Léfévre has a sponsor next year and that Le Pomme and de Rijke promoted to PCT but I'm sad about Novo Nordisk relegating, Andronio disappearing and Contador and Taaramea to Cannondale

@SS2JLuigi: This changes are necessary for the story so it keep me motivated to continue. I understand the disappointment about Androni and Novo Nordisk but I had to do it.
@sutty68: Well, this was a very bad year for them and the relegation was the logical outcome. Nothing say that they could not make a come back to a higher level next season
Looking at the figures, I had a good season, but with my list of Achievements this year, this has been an amazing season :
Country | Race | Rank | | Tour de Pologne | 2nd | | Eneco Tour | Stage 7 | | Eneco Tour | 1st | | Vattenfall Cyclassics | 1st | | GP Ouest France - Plouay | 1st | | Paris - Bruxelles | 8th | | Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec | 2nd | | Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal | 1st | | Milano - Torino | 6th | | Giro del Piemonte | 2nd | | Il Lombardia | 1st |
That's it for the Rewind of the 2015 season. My next report will be about my winter, after I had finish the Cyclo-Cross Season.
I will then present the the team of 2016.

@YvesStevens: I know this is but seeing other thinking that is way better
@sutty68: The team had an amazing season and I'm sure it will be even better next year
This winter I had planed a Cyclo-Cross season with my team, I took part in some races in France and in all the World Cup races. My best results were a 9th position in Namur and a 3rd position in Rome. This was more than I was expecting and taking the 2nd position of the final ranking of the French Challenge was a good sign for the following races.
I started the French Championships with High expectation and as Francis Mourey ( FDJ) was absent due to a injury he had during the 4th race of the world cup, the race was very open.
In the last lap I was in the leading group with two other riders, the podium was ours but we were all looking at the top position. My real strength in that race was my sprint and I used it to get an amazing victory rewarded by my first National Champion Jersey ever.
The next week were the World Championships, I was so nervous about that race that I felt during the first lap, I did not finish the race as the road season was getting closer. Zdeněk Štybar ( TEL) won it for the fourth time in his career.
I'm currently writing from Italy were I am in training camp with some of my team mates, I will report it next time. I will also post the stats of the team and my planning for the season.

@sutty68 & SS2JLuigi: I'm really proud of that jersey but it's a shame I won't be allowed to wear it on the road this season
Before starting the real things, here is our new jersey for the 2016 season, very similar to last year but with blue parts.
2015/2016 Transfers
Leaved us:
CRADDOCK, Lawson | Chevrolet - Pepsi Cycling Team | CURVERS, Roy | Retire | DAMUSEAU, Thomas | BigMat - Aubert 93 | DE BACKER, Bert | Elite | FRöHLINGER, Johannes | Team NetApp - Endura | HAGA, Chad | Chevrolet - Pepsi Cycling Team | JENSE VAN RENSBURG, Reinardt | MTN - Qhubeka | JI, Cheng | Elite | LOH, Sea Keong | Elite | PETERSON, Thomas | BMC Racing Team |
Joined us:
FOLTYN, Jakub | Rapha Condor JLT | HERKLOTZ, Silvio | Team Stöling | HOFER, Andreas | TEAM Conad | KELDERMAN, Wilco | Belkin Pro Cycling | LE BON Johan | FDJ.fr | NERZ, Dominic | BMC Racing Team | VASYLIV, Yuriy | Tyrol Cycling Team | YATES, Simon | Orica - GreenEDGE | YATES, Adam | Orica - GreenEDGE | ZABEL, Rick | BMC Racing Team |
My impressions:
The new riders joining us are all fairly young and still have a great career in front of them, the reinforcement in the Classic Squad with Johan Le Bon and Rick Zabel is a good news. The new focus on mountain and hilly terrain is coming from Allianz. There are also future stars of German Cycling that joined us. After, I'm really sad seeing Reinardt Jense van Reinsburg leaving, he was a really good friend and team mates. He was not part of the plan and the team cannot offered him a new contract.

World Tour Pro Continental Tour
As I told you in my last post, I spent 1 week in Italy with some of my team mates to prepare the season, we had great times riding together and hopefully the weather was clement with us.
We focus our rides on sprints and flat exercises, in that picture, we were testing a sprint train for Marcel Kittel ( GIA). Koen De Kort ( GIA) was leading with Ramon Sinkeldam ( GIA) in his wheel. I was the next one in the line followed by Tom Veelers ( GIA) who was the last man before Marcel Kittel ( GIA).
To train our resistance to solo efforts, and to train our capacities of chasing, we played cats and mouse during three of the seven days. It was good for me and I had a slight advantage when the terrain was little hilly.
I eventualy created a small gap but when Johan Le Bon ( GIA), the French ITT national Champion, started to really chase me I had no chances to last very long.
The last day of the week we went to Sanremo in order to prepare the finish of the first classic of the year. We climbed several times the Cipressa It seemed to be easier for me than to the others but my time in Cyclo Cross might help too.
We of course did some test on the Poggio too as this will be the last climb of the day and the more important one too I think. The climb seemed easy but I did not ride the 280 kilometers coming before it. We had the bad weather.
My Planing
And finally to conclude this post, here is my plan for the first months of the season, I'm not sure yet if I'll ride the Ardennes Classics this season even if there is a high probability of seeing me on the roads of the Amstel Gold Race. My main goal with these races is clearly the Ronde van Vlaanderen were I already achieved a top 10.

Herklotz (Cio), Kelderman (Jesleyh) and Zabel in one team
if this happen in real life, the fanboyisme could only become greater if Danial Martin (Baseballlover312) joined the team

@SS2JLuigi: I realized that when you told me, I made the transfers based on what I wanted to do with the team and it appears that those riders were free this season. Then if it can bring some new followers this is a good news
@sutty68: They surely are great addition to our squad
@Cycleman123: He was not part of my plans for the future, and well, I will not take all the talented young rider in my team. there would have no competition at all in a few years |

@SS2JLuigi: The TDU wasn't even a goal for the team, it was just a way to get the thing started, the second position of Wilco is very welcomed and it's a lot more that what we could have expected |

And here is the now traditional season banner:
Tour of Qatar
The Squad:
Koen DE KORT
Marcel KITTEL
Johan LE BON
Anthony LOUVEILLE
Ramon SINKELDAM
Tom STAMSNIJDER
Tom VEELERS
Rick ZABEL
Pre-Race:
This is my come back to road racing after almost 3 months off the peloton, I'm have no expectation here except perhaps enjoying the ride. This will be the first race for the whole team so the victory won't come fast as some sprinters starting here already had some days of racing in their legs.
To conclude this little presentation, I hope that this season will be as good as my previous one.
Stage 1
That stage was very windy, it was blowing hard and from our sides, many riders did not managed to follow the high pace imposed by BMC Racing Team. For us who stayed in the middle of the pack all day long the most difficult was too keep contact with the riders in front of us.
With our lack of preparation, the sprint train of Team Giant - Allianz was a big failure. Luckily for us, Marcel managed to grab the wheel of Mark Cavendish ( TEL), the other sprint train was made by Orica GreenEDGE for Matthew Goss ( OGE).
We were not at the end of our problems as Marcel had chosen the wrong wheel, Mark Cavendish was not as powerful as he used to be and he failed to do his sprint. Matt Goss managed to keep his opponents away and took the victory. Marcel ended at the 6th position.
Stage Ranking:
1 | Matthew Harley Goss | Orica - GreenEDGE | 2h57'55 | 2 | Boy Van Poppel | Trek Factory Racing | s.t. | 3 | Heinrich Haussler | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 4 | Leigh Howard | Orica - GreenEDGE | s.t. | 5 | Theo Bos | Belkin Pro Cycling | s.t. | 6 | Marcel Kittel | Team Giant - Allianz | s.t. | 7 | Maximiliano Ariel Richeze Araquistain | Lampre - Colombia | s.t. | 8 | Roberto Ferrari | Lampre - Colombia | s.t. | 9 | Mark Cavendish | Telenet Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 10 | Eugenio Alafaci | Trek Factory Racing | s.t. | --- | 17 | Anthony Louveille | Team Giant - Allianz | s.t. |
Stage 2
Not much to say about this Team Time trial, except the fact that Trek Factory Racing won it and the leadership taken by Boy Van Poppel ( TFR). Our team did the 9th best time 55" behind the winners.
Stage Ranking:
1 | Trek Factory Racing | 12'25 | 2 | BMC Racing Team | + 13 | 3 | Telenet Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 4 | IAM Cycling | + 31 | 5 | Orica - GreenEDGE | s.t. | 6 | MTN - Qhubeka | + 45 | 7 | Lampre - Colombia | s.t. | 8 | Belkin Pro Cycling | + 55 | 9 | Team Giant - Allianz | s.t. | 10 | Team NetApp - Endura | + 1'04 | 11 | Bardiani Valvole - CSF Inox | s.t. | 12 | Drapac Cycling | + 1'07 | 13 | Topsport Vlaanderen - Baloise | s.t. | 14 | TEAM Sparkasse - Commerzbank | + 1'14 | 15 | Groupement Sportif Pétrolier Algérie | s.t. | 16 | TEAM Bauknecht - TV Nova | + 1'24 |
Stage 3
This was a race similar to the first stage but with less wind. The big event of my race was when Fabian Cancellara ( TFR) came to ask me how I was feeling for the coming classics. The fact that he knew me was just what I needed to give me more confidence and well he may not be Tom Boonen but he is Spartacus. SO I told him that I was really looking forward the battle on the Flemish cobblestones and that he will see me more than once at the front.
I told you that as there were not much to say about the stage itself, it ended in a sprint won by Theo Bos ( BEL). Marcel again ended 6th and Rick Zabel did well taking the 13th position.
Stage Ranking:
1 | Theo Bos | Belkin Pro Cycling | 3h28'45 | 2 | Heinrich Haussler | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 3 | Mark Cavendish | Telenet Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 4 | Matthew Harley Goss | Orica - GreenEDGE | s.t. | 5 | Danny Van Poppel | Trek Factory Racing | s.t. | 6 | Marcel Kittel | Team Giant - Allianz | s.t. | 7 | Boy Van Poppel | Trek Factory Racing | s.t. | 8 | Anthony Giacoppo | Drapac Cycling | s.t. | 9 | Roberto Ferrari | Lampre - Colombia | s.t. | 10 | Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg | MTN - Qhubeka | s.t. | --- | 17 | Anthony Louveille | Team Giant - Allianz | s.t. |
I feels good to be back in the peloton, I was starting missing it. My first days did not went so bad, I managed to stay in the pack not spending too much energy, the real test will be in the following weeks on the cobblestones of Belgium.
