The final of the Ardennes classics is Liege-Bastonge-Liege. The favorites to take "La Doyenne" are: Rodriguez, Gilbert, Martin, Betancur.
The Race
The day's breakaway featured: Zingle of Cofidis, Craddock of Argos, and Viennet of FDJ.
With 36 km to go Purito decided to animate the race with a long range attack, it worked perfectly. as Gilbert followed. The break is 1 30 up the road.
With 20 km to go, a lead group of six has formed, with Betancur, Rodriguez, Gilbert, Costa, Stybar, and I are 2 15 ahead of the peloton.
On the next hill, Purito took off again, leaving Stybar, Costa, and I behind.
With 10 km to go, Rodriguez and Gilbert lead Betancur by 10 seconds, it is another 20 back to Costa and I. The 25 man bunch is 1 15 behind us.
With 5 km to go, Betancur has rejoined the leading pair. I'm still with Costa about 25 seconds back.
With 1.5 km to go, Costa and I have almost caught the leaders. Behind us, Sagan and Kwiatkowski are only 15 seconds back.
With 500 m to go, Gilbert is pulling away from Purito and Betancur. Can the Belgian take the win?
Yes he can! Gilbert takes his first Ardennes Classic since taking the triple in 2011! Betancur takes second, and Purito third. I beat Costa in the sprint for fourth and fifth.

Post Race Comments- I couldn't be happier with my performance this week. I was able to hang with the best riders in the world on their terrain. I showed that my wins in Tirreno and ToBC were not flukes, that I am a World Class rider. I have decided to skip Romandie, and my next race will be the 5 days of Dunkerque.
See You Then- Ian

Another great race by Ian. It seems he just missed the little bit of extra punch in the finale after catching up to them. But such 3 great results in the Ardennes, Ian is one to watch out for next year.

Massive Crash in Dunkerque; Boswell, Petit Taken to Hospital
The first stage on the 4 Jours de Dunkerque was heading towards a sprint finish. Then, with 8 km to go, there was a touch of wheels at the head of the peloton. More than 3/4 the 150 rider bunch were on the ground or held up by the crash. 12 riders were forced to abandon due to injuries suffered in the crash. Four riders were taken to the hospital: Ian Boswell of MTN-Qhubeka, Adrien Petit of Cofidis, Laurent Mangel of FDJ, and Yelko Gomez of Caja Rujal. No official injuries have been announced, but Petit appeared to have a fractured collarbone when heading into the ambulance.
