One hell of a race. Will be a great early test for Sutton, to test his condition at this point! Those mountainsides don't lie |

TROFEO LAIGUEGLIA
Laigueglia – Laigueglia – 179.5km
Alessandro Bazzana
Daniele Callegarin
Daniele Colli
Alexander Efimkin
Filippo Fortin
Jure Kocjan
George Preidler
Gary Sutton
Malori/Lampre is out on his own after attacking on the descent of the first climb of the day, he currently holds an advantage of 1m 46s from a chasing group of three which includes Bertolini/Androni, Carrara/Vacansoleil and Frapporti/Team Idea
Malori/LAM was caught by the three chaser at the foot of the second climb of the day and then a few kilometres later a further three riders joined the break and they are Ignatenko/Katusha and Cherel and Montaguti both of AG2R. The lead on the peleton is 4m 51s
The seven leaders have an advantage of 3m 52s over a vastly reduced peleton which now only includes fifty one riders
There are now only six riders left in the front group, that's because the first man to attack today Malori of Lampre has completely blown and is now over a minute behind
The front six are being chased down by a group of fourteen riders which contains a lot of the pre race favourites
Ignatenko/Katusha has ridden off from his fellow escapees and opened up a gap of 57s
And the Russian barring accidents looks like he is going to ride to a magnificent solo victory as his lead has gone up to 2m 23s
Under the red kite and he starts to smile as he is about to achieve one of the best results of his career
With both arms raised up in to the sky Petr Ignatenko wins the Trofeo Laigueglia

Katusha Team
That was a tough day in the saddle for the guys today, we did have a race plan but that went out of the window as soon as the break got clear, so we spent the whole of the race in the middle of the peleton and let the other teams worry about doing the chasing

Well, for the winner it's a major beauty in his palmares.
There'll be other chances for the team, don't worry! |

LE TOUR DE LANGKAWI
Stage 1 – Putrajaya – Putajaya – ITT – 20.4km
Alessandro Bazzana
Rubens Bertogliati
Daniele Colli
Javier Megias
Alexander Serebryakov
Gary Sutton
The first rider to set a respectable time for the 20.4km course is the Russian Artem Ovechkin of RusVelo who comes home in 29m 40s
It wasn't long before his time got bettered and that was thanks to Markus Fothen of Team NSP who came quicker by 8s
Stybar of Omega Pharma came home just a little bit slower
The first Team Type 1 rider to complete the course was Javier Megias, but he would finish way down the field come the end of the day
Then came the news that Jeremy Roy of FDJ had set the fastest time of 29m 4s
Mendes of LA Antarte came in 21s slower
Jason McCartney of UnitedHealthcare would also fall short
As would Jens Debusschere of Lotto Belisol
News from around the course had said that Peter Velits of Omega Pharma was setting an incredible pace and would certainly push Roy all the way and indeed he did as he became our new leader with a time of 28m 58s
And then it was my turn and despite pushing a high gear all the way around the course i would not come near Velits time but i would give it a good go and just miss out by 25s
The final rider to finish was Omega Pharma rider Michal Kwiatkowski and he could home in the fastest time of the day and take the first yellow jersey with a 28m 35s performance
