The reason why Katusha's licence application got rejected may be Dennis Menchov.
He's apparently named several time in the uncensored USADA report transmitted to UCI. Mostly for known stuff though, with the humanplasma affair (with Boogerd, T. Dekker, etc.), tax frauding with Ferrari methods, etc.

I think it was because Ekimov is the manager. |

The reasons were made public a few days back.
- Menchov, Gusev, Kolobnev and Ignatiev caught in the Ferrari and Padova investigations
- Kolobnev selling the Liége win to Vinokourov
- Ekimov being team manager
- 4 positives in 4 years (Colom, Pfannberger, Kolobnev, Galimzyanov)

In other news, Sven Nys defends Leinders...
“He was very important in my career. He used to write my training schedules and can give good psychologically analyze and motivate an athlete.”
I totally that's what he helped you with, Sven!

Yep. I totally believe that a doctor makes training schedules for a high competition athlete and works as a psychologist and motivator. TOTALLY!
Especially coming from a Rabobank rider like Nys. He has like zero reason to lie, right?......right?...........RIGHT?

Dombrowski set to ride Giro.
“Basically all the races I do up to the Giro – Oman, Tirreno-Adriatico, Critérium International, Giro del Trentino – those are all with the team doing the Giro,” said Dombrowski. “Kind of a core group of guys that they’ll keep together.
Also talks more about training and how it differs, and how the new GC guys think it differs comapred to their old teams. Anyway nice to see Sky riding more of Italian calendar. Trentino on the cards, surely we'll see them in Strade Bianche as well.

What happened to Nys? Didn't he win about every big cross race a few years ago, and now he's a lot less consistent?

He's still one of the absolute best. Currently third in the UCI cyclocross ranking, after Pauwels and Albert.

Or according to Ekimov: It might be because Erik Zabel with his doping past is part of the managing team. At least I read this somewhere and found this reason pretty funny seeing that he is part of managing teams for years now. |

First it was Valverde, then Quintana, then Capecchi, now Intxausti?
As I said a few weeks ago:

Winner Anacona also got injured during training (he managed to hit a dog).
He was diagnosed with a broken peroneal malleolus and dislocation of the ankle bone.
They say that it will surely delay the start of his season.

It's been an awful year for cyclists in terms of training crashes. |
