Unley - Victor Harbour
Favorites
***Goss***
**Kittel**
*Boasson-Hagen*
The break formed quickly and easily today. Reynes(LTB), Silin(AST), Veikkenan(FDJ) and Tjallinig(MOV) were the lucky ones.
Silin took the days KoM sprint after 42km.
Reynes won both IS sprints at 65 and 89km's.
And we skip ahead to the finale.
With 25km to go the Orica, AG2R and OPQ lead peloton was 2'00 behind the days break.
At 20km it was down to 1'30.
At 15km to go the gap was less than a minute. The peloton (at 16km) hit some troubles.
No-one knows who went down first, but a crash towards the back took out a series of riders.
Those involved were Paulinho(STB), Martinez Koren and Verdugo(EUS), Spezialleti Bono Manzano and Cimolai(LAM), Eijssen and Roe(BMC), De Jonghe and Aru(AST), Van Leijen(LTB), Vansummeren(GRM), Elmiger(ALM), Madrazo(Sky), Carrara(LIQ) and the biggest loser was Stybar(OPQ).
The with 15.5km for the peloton Caruso(EUS) lost it, taking Dehaes(LTB) and Ratto(LIQ) with him.
But with 10km to go the gap was down to 29".
And finally at 7,5km to go the break was caught.
At 5 to go Orica, AG2R and OPQ formed their trains.
3km to go. OPQ are on the left, with Ferrari. Orica are in the center with Friere. AG2R are on the right with Feillu, Veelers and Haedo.
1km to go. Its the same set up, but EBH is just behind and sprinting fast. Goss is just starting to move. But Kittel is waiting.... So Long vs Medium vs Short sprints.
500m to go and Kittel finally makes his move, but its too late.
Goss holds on to beat EBH and Freire on the line, with Kittel head home Ferrari to complete the top 5.
