I really like to put my body to the limits, although my body structure isn't really the best one for marathon (72kilos, 180cm - looking almost exactly as Cavendish), but it can be great fun.
I may decide to do Belgrade marathon (full one) in next few years, who knows.

Sounds like a great result. I'll try to record my one, just for comparation, although I am pretty sure mine one won't be even close to the result above.

Had my first traning session today with the largest running club in the city and it went better than expected.
There were just about 25-30 people there, but about 6-7 out of their top 10-runners where there. It was an intervall session, 4x4, and I kept a consistent pace along with the best of them.
Considering the fact that they have trained through the winter while I have only had 4 sessions between mid-september and April 1st, I have a small hope of perhaps becoming the best runner in the club by the end of the year.
Teammates are just competitors in disguise.
PS: What would you guys see as a good 5k-time? Since I've been doing a fair bit of running my stance on the subject is perhaps a bit scewd. I've always considered sub-20 to be good. Not great, by any means, but better than average. However, I was talking to some of the more experienced runners in the club and their goal was to get a 22-minute 5k or get close to a 40-minute 10k. Those times are, in my mind, kinda bad.
Not as in absolute rubbish, but I'd feel slightly embarrased clocking in on such a time.

Depends what you call good or bad. Maybe when I'll be close to 50 if I still hold in one piece I'll be happy with a sub-20 5k.
Locally you can't really expect to win a 5k road race with a time above 16:30. 17:00 must be the worst podiums, I'm not sure for top-10, but I'd say above 17:30, 18:00 if it's a very weak field you're out of the top 10.
As for 10k races, generally the quality of the field is judged by the number of guys who go sub 33. It varies from 0 to 6 guys for most races with 200 to 500 runners here.
On another note, I'm just back from my first race in 6 weeks, a measured 15 k. Apparently I ended around the 18th place (on roughly 300 runners), with a time of 58:24 according to my watch. Not so bad given I'm constantly half-injured (those never ending adductor/hip flextor/pubic problems). We got some very heavy rain showers during the second half, we were totally soaked, with our shoes and socks filled with water. My laces got loose with about 2 km to go (in spite of a double knot ). |

Well, had my second training session with the club, a 10k run.
Half of the group did 8k and the other half (me included) did 10. After following the front and not coming close to breaking a sweat after 5.5k, I upped the tempo to a sluggish run and with about 1k to go, I caught and passed the front runners in the 8k-group. I don't have a heart rate monitor, but I doubt I was above 75% for the entire run.
This better have been just a freak coincidence or else I'mnot gonna get what I hoped to get out of this.

Seems I also have a hint of runner's knee, but I think it might be because of worn-out footwear. I love my Puma Faas 300 with all my heart, but they are getting worn out, have been my only pair for a while (tight financial situation) and they are pretty darn rough to begin with. Put all those three together and they correlate pretty well with my knee issues.
I'l be buying a new pair in a matter of days, but can't decide between the Hagio 2 or the Adios 2.

You need a pair of Asics!

Went for the Adios 2 and I couldn't be happier. Had my first session with them yesterday and they felt wonderful.
I still need one more pair, though. Perhaps I might for the Hagio aswell...

I have no idea why I said that half-marathon was on 3rd May, while it was on 10th May, today, this morning.
So, just got home and it was crazy! I was in the first group of guys (few biathlon guys that were on Eurosport, so pretty strong one) for first 5 kilometers or something like that, but I felt strong pain in my stomach and I had to lower my pace a bit, so I dropped from that group. Never-mind, I was still at around 7th-8th place and it was still great for me! Next few kilometers passed without any problems and then once again, I felt huge pain. I stopped for few minutes to try regaining some energy and I was hoping that it will stop, but nothing happened really.
For few times I tried running, but the pain became unbearable, so I had to wait for ambulance to come and I lost some good 15 minutes there, as they were on the bottom of the marathon. I took some medicament against stomachache and it actually had an effect, as the pain was removed at that point, but there was one huge problem - I was on the bottom of the race.
However, at the end, I managed somehow to finish it with the time around 2 hours. To make thing even worse, stupid Strava just didn't want to co-operate so I only had my time at the end.
I am pretty sure that late breakfast was the reason for that stomachache, as the race started around 9:30 and I had the breakfast at around 8:40. At least I am learning from these mistakes and hopefully, I'll prepare myself better for the race next time.
In one hand I am disappointed because it was great chance to finish this half-marathon in at least under 1:40h and Top 10, but in other hand I am proud of myself that I didn't give up and I managed to ran the whole route of 22 kilometers. That's my little adventure from this morning.

Finishing a half marathon with serious stomach pain isn't bad at all!
I will run a half marathon next Saturday and I will probably eat at least 3 hours before The start. It's a little bit easier for me than for you though, as I start at one o'clock.

Good luck with that! You'll definitely have some better conditions and starting time, as it actually rained for some time here, this morning. That was probably one of the reasons for strong stomach pain, too.
Half-marathon ; half-dead is how I'd describe it the best. This is the picture from one muddy part of it (yeah, we weren't on asphalt all the time and there were some really hard hilly sections, too): https://prntscr.co...

Yup, my town is like "thrown" in the middle of big mountains who are surrouding it and there's some great nature and enviroment around. Also, that's alot of people in that image above.
Anyways, this is the profile of the Sjenica (my hometown) marathon. Looks pretty steep on graphics and it really is in real life.

Shit, that climb in the middle is like 5 km! Having a light body must be a big advantage in that race.

There's one "small" problem. I am not light at all. 73 kilos and 180cm is normal for real-life stuff, but definitely too much for this kind of stuff.

Yeah, I'm about the same weight as you, but I am 195 cm tall.

Definitely good weather for running today in NE England. Went out for a run after the Giro stage finished for about 13 miles in decent time of no more than around 1 hour and a quarter. So yeah, get out there while the weather is good if you are into running. |

So, you can run a half marathon in 1h15, just like that, stepping out of home ? Impressive. |

So yesterday was the big day. I ran Gothenburg Half Marathon for the second time. It was hot and sunny, but I managed to keep a solid pace all the way and beat my time from last year by more than 12 minutes!
