There is no way that CAS will let him go. Best case scenario for Contador is that they uphold the 1-year-ban, worst case is that the ban is increased to two years. |

Not yet. If neither WADA or UCI appeal RFEC's sentence, worst case for Contador would be that they keep the 1 year ban. We'll know in 10 days. |

Will be best for the Tour de France and cycling.
Most people wants Andy vs Conta instead of a Conta-ban, im sure.
Also, if they can prove Conta did it because he wanted to dope, he should have 2 years, but they cant since they give him 1 year. Let him go then.

Siw: Once again -- legally speaking, it's NOT up to the authorities to prove that Contador intended to dope. They have a positive sample, showing a forbidden substance. That's enough to ban him for two years. It's up to Contador to prove that he did not use the substance with the intention to dope - and even if he can prove that, which is unlikely, he's likely to get a ban.
Kumazan: Why? |

Who cares about the names anyway ? Cycling and TDF are beyond cyclists. Would they go up the mountains 2 km/h slower but with more suspense, we'd all be enjoying it. |

Well, I don't really know if the CAS works like this too, but in Spain, if one of the parts appeals a sentence, and the other part doesn't, the court decision can't be worse for the one who appeals than the original one. So, in theory (I'm not an expert in these legal things) if it's only Contador who appeals, the final sentence can't be worse for him than the original one.
I beg that someone more knowledgeable than me on these issues correct me in the case I'm wrong.

Appealing is just like throwing all the dices again, at least here. |

No no.. The one that watch only the Tour does it because its fun and exciting, they dont care much about doped riders or not. They just want some good racing

If they want some good racing, they are two months late. |

Oh dear Contador, appealing ban and and slamming the doping system not a good idea.
Not much different from Landis, I say that because Landis knew he doped and slammed the system. Contador is on the same route, if he still wants a career in cycling he needs to accept the one year ban which will end in july and get on with it. At the rate he is going we will not see him again. Winning at all costs, both fair and unfair, thats Contador, which is a shame.

That is correct, CAS may very well decide to slap him silly with a 2 year ban.

He should be given a 2 year ban in the first place, it is totally unfair given riders differnt lengths in bans, like Valverde, Vino and Basso got 2 year bans so why shouldn't Contador afterall he has still doped like the others.

Thanks for the clarification.
So this is now where we all knew it was going to be, in the CAS.
There goes my bet: they uphold the current 1 year ban. |
