Tour of Qatar Stage 3
With 10km to go we moved in the front of the pack, this time with only six riders as Reus and Langeveld weren't there. Somewhere arround 30 riders are now in the first group
It seems that those will fight for the stage win today and the sprint it's going to be hard to control because of the strong wind
Before the last kilometre Summer has a little advantage over the pack
Behind him another 4 riders managed to get away from the pack, including Freire and Klemme, second in the overall rankings
Inside the last kilometre Summer cracked and he was caught by Freire and Klemme
Final acceleration by Freire ...
The three times World Champion takes the stage win and it seems that this time there are some time gaps
Klemme is the new leader of the race thanks to his team performance in the TTT. Also the first 5th riders in the stage are first in the overall rankings as well since they won 36 seconds over the rest of the pack today
With 2nd place yesterday and victory today, Freire seems to have no rival for the points jersey

Tour of Qatar Stage 4
With 10km to go we moved again in front of the pack
But this time the wind didn't help us and no gaps were made
The sprint seems to be more organized that yesterday and Freire is right behind Klemme
One Liqugas is leading the sprint for Fischer. Radochla and Freire are in their slipstream at the moment
This doesn't seem to be Freire's day and he is losing speed as Radochla and Fischer are in front, fighting for the stage win
Radochla takes the stage win after fooling the Liguigas riders
Freire didn't got any bonifications today and Klemme keeps the yellow jersey for at least another day

Tour of Qatar Stage 5
10 kilometres to go and some riders are down
Actually a lot of riders are down
Second in the overall rankings and points jersey wearer, Oscar Freire is down!
Yesteday winner, Radochla went down as well. And he doesn't seem able to continue
This was really a big crashes. Some riders are still down
Flecha and Boom seem to be our only hopes for today and the overall rankings now
They are in a good position when the sprint starts but AG2R are leading
With one kilometre to go no one was able to make any difference. Still neither Flecha or Boom seem to be able to keep it up with the real sprinters
Biondo, who used the AG2R lead to lunch himself, takes the stage win and he also wins some positions in the overall rankings
Big win for Flaminia it seems, as one of Biondo's team - mates is celebrating in the pack
Freire lost 2 and a half minutes and he is out of the batle for the overall.
Another day for Klemme in the yelllow jersey and it seems that he will take the final win
Though that he wasn't involved in the mass sprint today, Freire is still the leader in the points rankings

Tour of Qatar Final Stage
With less than 10 km to go a bordure was made and some important guys from the overall rankings are caught in the second pack
Though that we didn't cause the split all our team except Reus is in the main group
But nobody is able to help Freire so he will have to do it on his own if he wants a second stage win
Euskaltel are leading the sprint and though that he is in a good position Freire seems to be exposed
Ruben Perez takes the lead from his team - mate, while Freire seems to nowhere
Indeed Freire exposed himself too early and now he is losing speed
No one was able to keep it up with Perez and he took a confident win. Unhoped victory for Euskaltel here, in Qatar
Also great victory for Klemme who didn't got a stage win but he was always there at the top in the sprints and with his team performance in the TTT he managed to win Tour of Qatar 2009
Paolini and Freire had the same number of points for the green jersey, but because he had a stage win, Freiere gets the jersey

Vuelta a Mallorca is one of the most important races in February. There are one or two stages for the sprinters but the race will probably be win by a climber or a puncheur. Our team will be lead by Garate and Nuyens, but they will have serious competition as riders like Samuel Sanchez, Tadej Valjavec, Vladimir Efimkin, Scarponi, Uran, David Arroyo, Bruseghin or David Moncoutie already confirmed their participation in the race.
Euskaltel seem to have brough the strongest team here. As Sanchez is the main favourite for the overall win, they also brough Koldo Fernandez. So in the first stage we should see a batle between Koldo Fernandez and our sprinter, Graeme Brown
Team for Vuelta a Mallorca:
41. Juan Manuel Gárate
42. Mauricio Ardila
43. Graeme Brown
44. Pedro Horrillo
45. Nick Nuyens
46. Tom Stamsnijder
47. Bram Tankink
48. Maarten Tjallingii

Vuelta a Mallorca Stage 1
First stage is all flat and it's going to end in mass sprint. Garmin are there for Farrar who is also in this race but his bad early form good affect his sprints.
Brown stayed in the slipstream of the Euskaltel train and he made the good choice as the Basque train is faster than Garmin's one
With 1km to go Koldo Fernandez is leading with Brown right after him
Brown makes his last move as it seems that only he can stop Koldo Fernandez today
This is going to be really close...
But Koldo Fernandez was just too strong and he takes the win

Vuelta a Mallorca Stage 2
Big breakaway group but except the KoM points they have nothing else to fight for
Probably the last mass sprint in this race and it seems that Brown didn't make the good choice staying behind Garmin and Lampre
Euskaltel are the fastest and the only one that can keep it up with them is Barbosa
Koldo Fernandez is again in a perfect position and I don't think that Barbosa can beat him
Though that Barbosa was really fast in the last metres Koldo Fernandez got his win no.2
2 stage win and Koldo Fernandez is obvious in the yellow jersey

Vuelta a Mallorca Stage 3
Again big breakaway group but they had no chance against the pack today
After the last climb of the day Koldo Fernandez made a surprise attack
Nuyens and a few others went after him
Soon we had a very strong front group with riders like Fothen, Nuyens, Fedrigo, Koldo Fernandez, Trofimov, Tschopp or Lastras
But as we enter the last kilometres they stop working togheter and the pack is coming reall fast
Behind them Garate attacked from the pack
And soon he was in the first group
He even got the lead of the group and the sprint starts with him in front
But the Bouygues guys seem to be faster than us
After a great lead from Trofimov, Fedrigo takes the stage win
2 stage wins and one second place, Koldo Fernandez is the yellow jersey and now he has a nice chance to win the race

Vuelta a Mallorca Stage 4
Even more escapes today but this tour just doesn't seem to be made for breakaways
As we reached the last climb, Ardila was the one who made the first attack
Nobody went after him but his was quickly caught back
Right when he was heading back to the pack, Zabriskie attacked
Garate went rider after him
They were together at the top of the climb. The pack wasn't far though
On the downhill Zabriskie didn't continue his attack so only Garate took a small advantage over the pack
But the guys in the pack are coming really fast, specially Roche
In the last metres Garate is caught by Roche
But the Irish only managed to beat Garate after they crossed the finish line so Juanma gets the win
Koldo Fernandez lost one minute today so he have a new leader. It's Fedrigo but Garate is registered with the same time so we should see a nice battle tomorrow
Stage

Vuelta a Mallorca Final Stage
The last climb started with no escapes in front and the only one that managed to make any difference at the start of the climb was Fedrigo
But behind Tjallingii, Nuyens, Tankink and Ardila were chasing him and trying to bring him back in the pack
And after they did it, it was Garate's time to attack
Nobody went after and all he need is to finish the stage in front of Fedrigo. That is very likely to happen now that he is alone in front with the finish getting closer and closer
Bouygues Telecom are working now to catch Garate, after Rabo did the same with their, Fedrigo
And they manage to close the gap and Garate is almost caught inside the last kilometre but Fedrigo is nowhere so it will be imposible for him to protect his yellow jersey
Even if they were really close nobody was able to defend Garate and he took his second win in a row. And with 20 bonifications seconds he also won the overall
After doing a great job for Garate today, Tjallingii and Tankink finished at the back of the group. A few metres in front of them Nuyens seems to be very happy with what the team achived today, the first overall win in a race in 2009
Great start of the season for Garate. First race 2 stage wins and the overall as well
Koldo Fernandez wasn't able to hang on for the yellow jersey but at least he got the points one

Gesink will make his season debut in Amgen Tour of California. Though that the course doesn't really suite too well for him with no uphill finishes and 2 TTs he is our leader for this race and with Astana not participating he will have more chances to get the final podium. The strongest climbers in the race are Frank Schleck, Gesink, Kirchen and Cunego but the 2 TTs could also help a guy like Cancellara getting a good place.
There are also some stages for the sprinters and there we should see Freire fighting with the Columbia guys, Eisel, Greipel and Cavendish. Saxo Bank guys O'Grady and Haedo could also have something to say, but some hills on the route and Haedo is out.
Team for Amgen Tour of California:
31. Robert Gesink
32. Lars Boom
33. Juan Antonio Flecha
34. Óscar Freire
35. Paul Martens
36. Bauke Mollema
37. Grischa Niermann
38. Pieter Weening
