PUtting someone in the break when you have the yellow jersey, is a no-go in order of the unwritten rules on how you behave when you hvae a leaders jersey.

Which is why that Saxo Bank should've gone slower when the stage win was out of reach and let someone else take the leader's shirt. It's time to relax.
Anyway, as I said on page 1, I have a feeling that a break will be allowed to go today - although it probably depends on Columbia. |

Hushovd has said he wants the win today. Cervelo may be the chasers.

This is the perfect stage for a brake , columbia is tired , saxo is tired , Cervelo cannot make the chase alone.

You have to remember that the next several stages are not for sprinters so you really think they are going to miss a chance to represent themselves. e.g. cervelo and columbia. Columbia will take it easy tomorrow and some will firday sat and sun remember if there is achance of a bunch sprint it usually happens in the first week the second and third week is usually when a break is allowed to go. I see tomorrows stage more of a breakaways stage or friday. |

I doubt Quick-Step will chase, seeing they are lazy, they might send someone in the break tough.

but they must do something this tour ? now one for top 10 I had hope a little for devolder but with his start and that his not as good as the other in the mountains not even top 40. Barredo maybe go for something in one mountainsstage and chavanel for som breakaway. but with boonen in the team they should take some responsibility and chase in some breakaways. |

There will be lots of wind today, thats at least what every rider and journalist is twittering... Sastre says that Cervélo will assist Hushovd today. Brett Lancaster also said that they wanted to split the peleton.
And Rogers says that Columbia is aming for another stage win for Cav (I don't think they will chase if they don't get any help though).

Lol shame soler isnt in to keep him company at least he would have some help then. I suppose it helps him in his quest for the mountains on sat when there are two big climbs to claim points and he might ride normally tomorrow and go for the stage. |

Besides Rick Reilly's stupid humor, this is essentially what every single American cycling commentator and journalist feels about Lance. Its bullshit:

Extra bonus on ESPN right now, Bonnie Ford, ESPN's cycling commentator, just mispronounced Contador's name.

So, Saxo Bank isn't leading at all today, it seems. Columbia is, though. And Garmin. |

Reilly isn't a cycling comentator... he's just a general sports columnist (and a bit of an arrogant jerk when you see him on TV).
Him commenting on cycling is like some of the people on here who view "football" as only a game played with a round ball commenting on the Dallas Cowboys. It's based solely on stuff that 99% of the population knows... and in the US that's pretty much just Lance.
Most general sports fans in the US couldn't tell yo who won the tour last year and have no idea who Greg Lemond is. |

I know that, but I still think its a good representative of how American commentators feel about Lance and the 09 Tour |

American commentators who don't know anything about cycling... yes.
But honestly... if someone doesn't know anything about what they are talking about... who really cares what they have to say? |
