A Tour thread? Geez... I'm opening a La Vuelta thread, then. And an Olympics 2012. Any favorite, guys?

Keep in mind Menchov tends to ride his second grand tour of his season better then his first one. This is why he's done the Giro this and last year; to be better for the Tour.
That was the plan, but he appears to be going all out at this year's Giro, because he's in great shape earlier than usual this season. I can't help feel he's misjudged this a little and now has to see if he can hold rather than build for the Tour, and I don't see it happening. Unless he's superhuman, because that looked like a top-form performance earlier today |

I am really looking forward to this years tour, I can only see one winner in Contador but looking at the giro I think Lance will go well and they are going to have the strongest team by along way even if they dont bring Kloden. I think Cav will take the green if he finishes and i think he will. Schleck will win the white and KOM could come from anyone. Should be a really good Tour this yr even know we will get the normal cheats that get caught |

Okay correction from Earlier...what I meant to say was that AC has finished with the leaders jersey on his shoulder ever since his break out with Discovery in '07. He wasn't really a GT contender until then. Would you all be more willing to agree with that haha. My mistake earlier...I forgot he even rode in 05. I prolly had Tour de Lance fever that year or something.
I am sure Armstrong will pull something together for Astana, but it'll be interesting how the financial situation goes for the team by the end of May.
If he rides it, I could see Roman Kreuziger having a break out season (hopefully not another Kohl situation though).
Any word on Heinnrich Haussler? Will he be riding? If he does, I bet he pulls off at least one stage win for Cervelo.
If Cancellara doesnt win the opening TT, it will be one of the Astana boys, and after the TTT (which of course will be won by Astana) I could see a total domination of the race. The question is would they want the Jersey that long? They will have the strength to hold it, but wouldn't it be smarter for them to wait until at least the mountains to grab it. What do you guys think? |

Im sure at the beginning of the tour itll be Hushovd as the sprinter, but it will all depend on who is in better form come July. With as well as Haussler performed early season I think theres a possibility there but Hushovd's not havin a bad year either.
It should be interesting to see who comes out of the woodwork. |

And I say Kasper Kloggstad (damn its been so long i forgot how to spell it)
Christians gonna be off the bike for a while, I dont see him even making the start of the Tour. I guess they found several fractured vertebrae in his back, along with everything else. I bet they stack their team for the TT, esp with a TTT on stage 4.
I will say if Farrar rides as good in the Tour as he does here, I could see him taking a good stage win. He has been impressive in the Giro and continues to impress me with his progress. |

I'd really stop speculating who can win, untill Tour de Suisse and Dauphine

It's too early...
But i don't know about Cavendish and green. It may be too early for him to do that.
Also, yellow is hard to predict, but you'd be a fool to not mention Contador.
