It is sad when a rider of that potentiel makes something like that, but why did QS not do anything last year? |

It's not looking good for QuickStep in terms of future: their youth teams aren't what they used to be, and their crown jewel Bakelandts was "robbed" by Lotto.
hmm, I dont think QS produced any of their top riders of the last 15y themselves |

Well, now they have some promising young riders they produced themselves. Seeldraeyers and Devenyns came from Beveren 2000, and I think Cornu too (not sure about the last one).

It's official: the UCI has summoned Boonen to a hearing. The suspension will be anywhere from 1 to 6 months.

"It [cocaine] is everywhere, really everywhere," said Boonen, explaining why it was hard for him to resist the temptation. "I really want to say this, not only for me but for all the people that are using it. It's even easier than to drink a cup of coffee."
Why I only can bye and find just coffe..everywhere |

Boonen is amazing he wouldnt take it to perform so i think he shouldnt be banned. its just an addiction i hope he recovers and gets back in cycling. banning him will only make it worse for him. |

i agree with ste. he shouldn't be banned by the UCI because the drug isn't performance enhancing so he wasn't taking it to cheat.
on the other hand he prob should be suspended by his team while he sorts himself out and can prove that he's clean. He has breached his contract and so should face disciplinary action from his team. but at the end of the day he won the Paris-Roubaix this year. it's obviously not that much of a problem if he can still compete at that level. but it's important not to let it get out of hand so an enforced rest from racing by his team is probably for the best.
it is a personnal matter, not a professional one so the UCI shouldn't really get involved. |

well..cocaine is still quite restricted and serious stuff.. star or not this is not great for cycling.
Let's then protect some bank robber..because guy won Roubaix..
If the team wasn't Quick step they have fired him already. |

i simply meant that he doesn't have that big a problem with cocaine if he can still win the PR.
my point is that it has nothing to do with the UCI so they should stay out of it. What his team and the Belgian Police do is a completely different matter because he has broken the law and breached his contract. |

Hopefully Boonen will be banned before the Tour de France anyways so it won't be a problem. |

Quick Step team boss Patrick Lefevere has indicated he will take legal action if the Tour de France's organiser Amaury Sport Organisation moves to stop Tom Boonen competing in this year's race.
My question is:
Didn't the ASO run the tour outside of the UCI last year to regain control as to the "Invitees" to their event?
and if so:
Why doesn't the ASO just tell Lefevere to choose between Boonen and the Tour....have him face a Quickstep "uninvite" instead of to just an "uninvite to the cocaine addict"?
McQuaid said today that he doesnt see why Boonen shouldnt be able to start in the tour
but ASO will still try to block Boonen from participating, then Boonen will sue in court and will be able to start |

They might still try do that, like the Giro tried to do with Fuji-Servetto
Fuji-Servetto got allowed to race the Giro tho via court, even with their history of dope and stuff, so I think QS can't be excluded from TdF |

But if UCI bans Boonen for a couple of months, bye, bye Le Tour. |
