The Day D is coming! Today we are going to participate in one day race named Beverbeek Classic. It´s classified as cobble race, but I can swear there is no cobbles in the race, just flat, flat and flat...Sponsors want to see my riders in podium places here, it´s first season objective. But after quick view on startlist, we are stunned. Hushovd, Haussler, Hammond, Cooke, Casper...it will be hard, very hard...hope I´ve prepared my riders well.
Race is 168km long, tempo is really slow (you can check it in result) and no one (!!) has attacked more then 3 hours of riding...really boring, it will be decide in bunch sprint? I hope not, some action is needed very soon.
And here it is! 30km to go and we can see first attack, Roesems, Maes attack, I send Van Vooren to join them, whilst Cervelo team controls front of peloton.
16km to go, gap is small, Van Vorren attacks again! Target is clear, I want to avoid bunch sprint by provoking of some attacks.
and my tactics works, the biggest favorite of race Thor Hushovd doesn´t hold his nerves (or just making his own strategy) and attacks peloton! It´s time for Nico Eeckhout, this could be decisive moment!
But Nico failed, he is not able to keep with Thor...I feel we missed our chance to succeed...
Thor´s attack has not let peloton calm, group of strong riders formed behind him, including 4 of my riders, Van Vooren, Eeckhout, Ghyselinck and Vanmarcke. 6km to go...
Although I have still 3 riders in front (Van Vooren has already dropped), it doesn´t look good fo me...Thor is still ahead and here are other exceptional sprinters, Cooke and Casper.
Cooke sets murderous pace in pursuit to catch Hushovd, only Vanmarcke holds him, there is gap between them and Casper!
Last kilometer, Hammond is coming from nowhere, will Vanmarcke hold his place?
Thor Husvovd proves his dominance and takes another (I think 5th) season win.
Cooke is second and Sep Vanmarcke keeps his podium place! First objective is reached!!!!

Welcome in Taiwan. We are participating on Tour de Taiwan, part of the UCI Asia Tour. Race is 8 stages long, 7 of them are totally flat. Stage 3 has hilly finish, this could be decisive stage of whole race. Startlist is pretty weak, I hope for some stage wins here.

Stage 1
It looked that early breakaway will succeed for long time, but due to great effort of my riders, they were caught and bunch sprint has to decide about winner. Nico Eeckhout wasn´t in perfect position before sprint, but was fastest and celebrated nice victory! But it was close, he started to celebrate too soon

2 Taiji Nishitani Aisan Racing Team s.t.
3 Gregor Gazvoda EQA - Meitan Hompo - Graphite Design s.t.
4 Tony Gibb Plowman Craven - Madison s.t.
5 Shinri Suzuki Shimano Racing Team s.t.
Stage 2
Quit peaceful stage finished in sprint too, my train failed again (will I be succesfull sometimes?). Robert Hayles took the win and yellow jersey for stage 3.
1 Robert Hayles Team Halfords 2h29'09
2 Russel Downing Candi TV - Pinarello RT s.t.
3 Yasuharu Nakajima EQA - Meitan Hompo - Graphite Design s.t.
4 Nico Eeckhout An Post - Sean Kelly Team s.t.
5 Chris Newton Rapha Condor s.t.
Stage 3
Only non-flat stage with hilly finish. Climb is not too steep, but will test readiness of all riders.
This could be great day for my young Irish rider Mark Cassidy, he was really very close to his biggest success so far. He participated in early break and was very active.
We moved to last part of stage, only 4km to go. Mark is still ahead with three remaining fellows from break.
3km to go, peloton is getting close, so Mark has decided attack. Although he isn´t top climber (or even decent climber), he looks very strong today.
1,5km to go, he is still ahead with small advantage before main contenders.
Damn, he was haunted down just few hundred meters before line.
Eric Drower wins the stage and achieves yellow jersey for tomorrow.
Mark Cassidy lost battle for 2nd on the line...but 3rd place overall is really great, I´m proud for him.

A shame that Cassidy wasn't able to hold on to first, but third is still a very good finish.
Really enjoying this, keep up the good work. |

as mentioned before, there is pretty weak startlist in Taiwan, best "climber" is Drower with 69MO... |
