Just before today race I was informed about Vuelta al Tachira results. No surprise at all...
La Tropicale Amissa Bongo - stage 6 (last one) - 18th January
It seems that nothing can stop us now from overall double - nice race after such a bad start
Today we set really high tempo from start so no breaks today - Tom and Sebastian are ready for a sprint
What´s going on? Why Tom stopped? What happened?
Meanwhile Sebastian is going for 4th place and overall win - but it isn´t our concern just now.
Nico Sijmens won the stage by centimetres
Poor Tom just before he completely passed out from overheating
I decided to leave immediately to hospital with Tom. His health is more important than this race. Luckily for us it wasn´t nothing serious and he will be able to race in few days again. Ufff - I almost got heart attack....

19th January
While doctors were debating whether should be Tom Leezer send to TdU I had to made 3 meetings today. First one was with Robert Linskens - last year biggest Dutch star in U-23 championship. He shocked many scouts with his unusual climbing ability for cobblestone rider. He was very shy during our morning meeting, so his lack of emotion, after he was told just to follow Flecha, Nuyens and learn from them, didnt surprise me. In 13:00 I will meet someone famous...
Robert Linskens
Last year achievements: 8th Ronde van Vlaanderen
This year expectations: None |

For today lunch I am going to meet our biggest star - Denis Menchov. I booked table in most expensive restaurant in Amsterdam and I hope that he will accept my offer to be captain during Paris-Nice, tour de Suisse and Tour de France...
Yes - he agreed. We shaked hands and I said to him how much it meant for me to have him in my squad. I also told him that I were counting on him that he would pass his experience to our young hopes...
LAst year successes:
3rd overall Tour de France + 1 stage victory
1st overall Paris-Nice
2nd Russian ITT Championship
3rd overall Tour de Suisse, Russian Road Championship
This year epectations: win Paris-Nice, Tour de France, podium Tour de Suisse |

Dimitry Kozontchuk
19th of January - late afternoon
Last guy who I met today was Dimitry. This meetning was kinda special beacause Denic Menchov was here with us. After short conversation I and Denis decided to give Dimitry leader role during Volta a Burgos and co-leader on Volta a Catalunya. We will see if he will fail us or not...
Last year successes:10th Russian RR championship
This year expectations: Podium palce Volta a Burgos, eventually TOP 10 Volta a Catalunya |

20th of January
I got e-mail from Erik today. In February I will participate only on Tour du Haut Var and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Also I should choose only one of all three GT´s - I will propably take TdF but Vuelta looks interesting too.
After busy January it will be good to have some break
my boss in field...
