"Art is difficult and criticism is easy", that's right, leave a sentence like "that's a very ignorant generalisation" and don't give any argument, that's fine...
Cartesianism (from Descartes, a French philosoph) consists of questionning anything you know or think you know and prove it again on a solid basis. Descartes was a fool though, as all he wrote only tended to prove God's actual existence (if he was sure of it, I leave room for doubts there).
Given the high number of cheaters at the top level of our sport, and the efficiency of dope, I find it natural to wonder about a rider's integrity when he's performing particularly well or at level that's significantly higher than expected. If he's clean that's fine, if he gets caught one day I won't look too naive (if my thoughts led me to think he's doped). I can't see anything sick or wrong with such thoughts. Blame the many past and present cheaters if people like me have those.
As for Cancellara, I, and issoisso, gave more particular arguments in the previous messages. If you read and understood them you should understand or accept that people question themselves about Cancellara. |

Exactly what you did. zero arguments. Just "here it is. it's fact. bank on it." |

On a side note, this reminds me of the "Kohl is doped" thread we had in July where so many people started criticising the guy who started the thread |

What argument do you want ? That France was the first country to seriously start cleaning dope from cycling ?
That Germany seems to be another very concerned one, based on the stances of their medias, sponsors, etc.
In which other country can you find such hard stances against doping in cycling (I wish it was the same in other sports, but let's keep it about cycling) ? I mean considering cyclists, staff, federations, race organisers, police, justice, fans, etc.
Rank a dozen of major cycling countries on such criterias and tell me France and Germany don't top the bill and that I'm ignorant, will you ? |

Of course I won't. Because that's not at all what was being refuted.
Ethics is something very concrete for German and French people, but it makes only little sense to most people in other countries

My English is probably clumsy, and I didn't mean to offend any one. Simply the fact that you'll find France and Germany on the top of the list I mentionned before is a very logical and predictable thing given the history and evolution of thoughts about ethical matters in those countries (google for morale + ethic + philosphy and get the list of major thinkers, you'll mostly find old Greeks and modern French and German guys, which was basically what I meant in that sentece you quoted).

that's lack of character. Just to think the worst of someone because it's plausible. that's not philosofic thinking that's standardized thinking!!
since you're on descartes I'll let you know a phrase of Aristoteles: "...because at some day, some hour and somewhere, it's likely that something unlikely is going to happen!"
and we're not talking about something but someone so you should be more carefull with your assumptions and be more respectful before anything more relevant arises! If everybody starts saying what they think WWIII is on its way!!
