From what I can tell from the Cyclingnews report, those 4 riders went away early on and built up a large enough lead that couldnt be brought back. The likes of Dean or Henderson werent going to be willing to put in a huge effort to close the gap if it would just benefit somebody else instead. |

Having won the mountainous Stage 10 and Mountain ITT Stage 11, Jose Rujano went into the final stage of the Vuelta al Tachira trailing the 20 year old leader Jose Alarcon by just 11 seconds.
The final stage profile was:
And looking at the results, it seemed Alarcon and Rujano marked each other out of contention. They finished 1 second apart but fall to 8th and 9th in the GC. Jonatan Monsalve won the stage and Ronald Gonzalez leapt up from 3rd overall to win the race.

Having won the mountainous Stage 10 and Mountain ITT Stage 11, Jose Rujano went into the final stage of the Vuelta al Tachira trailing the 20 year old leader Jose Alarcon by just 11 seconds.
That's not what happened. The last, supposedly 'flat' stage, was used for an ultimate attack by some powerfull riders on the flat. Rujano lost contact in a downhill, and poor Alarcon was in his wheel. Within no time things escalated when the leaders heard that. They had 40 seconds...1 minute... 1 minute 30 and finally more than 3 minutes I think. Crazy stage, but you see this a lot in South American flat stages.
Makes European flat stages seem dull and boring. I love South American cycling. Way more exciting then ANY european race. It's all too calculated down here. |

Okay thanks, I could only make my assumption on the results and clearly I know less about South American cycling than you  Kinda feel sorry for Alarcon then, but he's 20 years old so Im sure he will win the race one day |

Also notice that Rock Racing didn't show up at Tour de San Luis despite the fact that they got their license a few days ago and said they would show up.
The organizers will now sue Rock Racing. |
