After the recent success of the first crit the organisers of the RDG season decieded to up game. The next crit is already upon us and after numerous e-mails a mountain crit was confirmed. The course was designed by our very own Marc Nonsense (Leader of the RDG season)
The course was 10 laps of an extremly hard Columbian climb. Gradients easily going far beyond 20%! Will the riders be able to complete the race! One man with and Advantage is Marc Nonsense. He knows the course pretty well. But he isnt the best of mountain climbers and favourites include Tafi and Hamilton. Both up and coming climbers.
Climbing occurred from the outset and the riders immediately started to suffer. Some just uncliped turned around and headed back to the team bus!
It wasnt really an exciting race and nothing reall happened for 7 laps.
But with 3 laps to go Marc Nonsense put the hammer down! He easily gapped the peleton and gain aobut 2 minuts by the time he reached the summit of the climb.
An elite group formed with 2 laps to go and they tried to chase down Nonsense.
The sound of the bell! 1 lap to go! All Nonsense has to do is reach the summit ahead and the decent will take him to the victory!
The group behind started to attack each other but they were still around 1 minute behind Nonsense. However Nonsense began to struggle. Could they catch him!
Christ Hamilton decided it was now or never and he attacked coming up to the final uphill slope!
It was not to be today however and he was swarmed by the group.
Nonsense went over the summit alone! He is sure to win now! The downhill is so fast and some riders were reached 70kp/h +!!
Here he comes final corner and he is taking all the risks!
Hands off the bars on a 27% downhill! He must be mad! But there we have it an awesome win by Marc Nonsense!
The next man back was Corleone, he was almost 2 minutes down when he came in.
The main chase showed a form of sucicide – sprinting downhill at 80kph!
Theres the winner! Marc Nonsense timing his attack to perfection!
