About the handball team: Don't you remember the match against Ukrain? I'm pretty sure they said we would miss the WC and the Olympics if we lost it. And I'm speaking of the women's team.

Must've missed it, but nevertheless that's quite lame
8th December is the Hatton vs Mayweather fight and the smack-talk has been going on for about a year (well it seems like a year)
some of the pre-match banter
"I don't think Mayweather will retire because he wants to be remembered as an all-time great" – Ricky Hatton
"…before I leave, I just want to beat the best British fighter out there…" – Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"As far as talent and boxing ability goes he is second to none but in terms of excitement I haven't seen Mayweather in one good fight yet. He has got very negative as he has got older." – Ricky Hatton
"I'm just saying he's s dirty fighter." – Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"We couldn't be any more different and that's what makes the fight exciting - not just a clash of styles but a clash of personalities." – Ricky Hatton
"I just come with tremendous shape. I mean a lot of it is God-given talent. Most of it is God-given talent, you know. And the rest is just hard work." – Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"As a fighter, you can't help but admire him - he's very fast and skilled. But as a person, he's totally full of himself." – Ricky Hatton
"I am the best fighter in boxing today and I am going to prove it once again against Ricky Hatton." – Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"I can't wait to get in the ring with Mayweather. I feel I have the perfect style to beat him and to prove that I am the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world today. I heard he's going on "Dancing With The Stars"… which suits him perfectly because he's always on back foot. He's never faced anybody that has given him the pressure that I am going to give him December 8th." – Ricky Hatton
"I'm happy that my fight with Oscar [de la Hoya] did so well, but I'm not surprised because this is what happens when you give the people what they want. I am going to keep bringing that to the people and that's what they will see when I fight Hatton." – Floyd Mayweather Jr.
As a Brit i'm backing Hatton, but as i understand it, Mayweather has been stated as the favourite by the bookies, whoever is the favourite it doesn't matter, it will be a very close fightB)
Nothing has been decided yet. Calzaghe's promoter has said that Hopkins won't want to fight him because he will be scared of losing, but what else is he meant to say
Mayweather knocked Ricky out in the 10th round:cry:
Ricky will keep fighting though and i wouldn't bet against him asking for a re-match
on the Calzaghe-Hopkins front, Hopkins said that he will not lose to a white guy. Slightly racist but we'll give him the benefit of the doubt seen as he's huge

Plus nothing gets the boxing hype going like a race war. Haven't you ever seen The Great White Hype. Could be his tactic to get a large interest in a fight.

I was american and i cheered for hatton. Not that i hate pbf, deep down he's a very good guy altho immature, but it definately would have been awesome to see him ktfo and kick his aura of invincibility.
as for hopkins calzaghe, hopkins just playing the bad guy. He plays it better than anyone. He fought trinidad in NYC, heavily puerto rican crowd, and he stomped on the PF flag and antagonzied the crowd then proceeded to own trinidad their hero.
Its not about race, hopkings does that to all races.
Bernard Hopkins believes a contract to fight Joe Calzaghe in Las Vegas on 11 or 12 April will be signed no later than next week.
"We have an oral agreement. They have stood up for the last five years of my career," he told the Boxing Talk site.
"I'm just looking to make it happen and expect things to be wrapped up by the middle of next week at the latest. It's one of the biggest fights in boxing."
He added it would take place at the Mandalay Bay or MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Also Calzaghe may retire after this fight:
"My next fight could most definitely be my last. I don't want to fight on for the money. That's not the right motivation.
"I might have one more and then decide to pack it all in and get on with the rest of my life."
I'm surprised no one has commented on the match between Calzaghe - Hopkins. I just got around to watch it today, and it was so exciting and amazing. Calcaghe won (surprisingly, in my opinion), and it was very deserved despite for the fact that Calzaghe was down in the first round.
