In all honesty problems with this race aren't new. Two years ago Van Asbroeck didn't want to sprint for me because Vanbilsen had a a better prologue and Van Asbroeck just stayed to protect him despite winning the race the year before. So for this one the problem is (at least partly) with the race, not with the PCM version.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Yep, Saber & Silvestre not sprinting properly as predicted. Which might just save their races with one day to go, although Silvestre holding 3rd isn't ideal. Wouldn't really be surprise to see Cullaigh or Howard surge to the GC win tomorrow.
On a T3A level i'm not really surprised that Aberasturi has done nothing at all. Still we should get some points from the GC thanks to that strong Stage 1. It's quite nice to enjoy this race without seeing Ewan involved.

This isn't so much race design causing AI issues, as just PCM AI not being human smart. Given the opening prologue does work well for high CB riders it's not a surprise that Vanbilsen would be given "GC Leader" status and then Tom pulled into support role, whereas a human can see this isn't the best option the game AI is far from that advanced.
I imagine i fell into a similar trap this time around with Aberasturi, especially as him and Tom are sub-top tier sprinters and not given outright "Sprinter favourite" tags by the game.
This kind of behaviour i would expect to see repeated in another race with just a standard prologue if a team have a winning PRL specialist and tier-2 sprinter.
You can compare that to Silvestre & Saber who were clearly their teams best GC bets after Stage 1. Whilst Bush & Binance have Kennaugh who does get tagged as a sprinter favourite outright to balance the GC Leader role.
Again it's all rough theory, and yes the CB Prologue does change some of the AI behaviours. But it's still easy to show repeated failings of the sprint AI in the same way as shown in other races without the CB Prologue.

Jakobsen absolutely flying through for the stage win there and taking the GC lead which could be a bad thing but he's got a 10 second gap to 2nd so, even if he fails to sprint on the final stage, he may still hold on or at the very least score well here!
Time for the team to really work together on the final stage as we have the strength on the flats with Thomas and Castrillo and also to deliver a lead-out

Well, as poor as expected, I suppose. Silvestre is 8th now, that should hopefully allow him to compete again as a proper sprinter, and the podium is still in reach with a strong finish. Hoping to break the Top 5 at the very least.

Inconsistent sprinting from TVA throughout but we have got a decent haul from this race and hope the last stage allows Van Asbroeck to keep a high position.

After a nice second place in stage 3 it was expected for Manninen to do nothing and drop back. Seventh in GC before the final stage should be perfect to join the sprint, and of course winning the final stage and GC is the dream. Just scoring some seconds and finishing in the top-5 of the GC will be decent.

Oh man, so close! Just an inch or two away from the podium or even the GC win, but I'll take 4th in the GC with two stage podiums and a day in yellow. Can't complain at all about that, especially with the season we've been having so far. Congrats to Aramco and thank you for the thoroughly enjoyable reports throughout, Ulrich!

Thanks a million for the reports as well, they were great.
And it’s so strange to see Howard actually be competitive especially without a train, and taking a GC podium with this being his only decent result all race is a little odd. No Halvorsen, TVA et al at the finish, serves them right for riding well and being well placed in the GC. At least it didn’t affect the winner.
Also a top-15 from Gani is great too! Good for him

Poor finish after a bright start. Hoped for a bit better in the last stage but wasn't to be. Ok race in the end, given the sprinter field.
