Sprinting is a real crapshoot, Park in 4th another unexpected result beating 2 of the three star favourites.
As I have seen with Zabel, having a favourite and forming a sprint chain is a curse as they get dropped off with 700m to go and don't have the Flat and Res to survive.
Congrats to ivaneurope and thanks to Ulrich for the report.
Looking forward to see how Dulanjana performs in the TT.

That stage win is good and will lift the spirits up in the team after so many mediocre performance recently. However in the sprinting department I'm lacking the depth to collect even more ranking points. But things are looking up.
The next stage is a TT (perhaps the PRL stat may matter - correct me if I'm wrong), which is good for Barta to hold firm onto the U25 and considering that Helme (the only real contender for that classification) isn't that good TT-er compared to Barta, this task shouldn't be an issue, but stranger things have happened.

Ranneries 5th is a nice result for us. BUT....
Are we allowed to hope for another great Pavlic surprise tomorrow?
Thank you for the wonderful sprint report Ulrich! So many pictures and really tense finish. I was sitting at the edge of my chair |

Both happy and unhappy with that TT stage. Happy because Mas put in a very good shift and has given himself a real chance given the profile of the final stage. I'd say he's a good chance of the win here but I will settle for a podium.
Less happy that Borisavljevic has +6 TT on Mas but only finished 5 seconds ahead of him...? But this does mean the team should be focussing on Mas on the final stage. Happy to sacrifice his 6th place in the GC if it means that Mas gets the win.
Looking forward to this last stage!

5th and 8th isn't exactly what I had in mind for the sprint results
Hopefully Campenaerts can shine in the time trial tomorrow!

Can't complain about Craddock. This was a target race (top 10 goal) for us so just hoping we can hold our own in the hills.
Ideally, Haas gets in the break and the peloton rolls over the line a few minutes later!

Very happy with Dulanjana's performance in the ITT, hope he can manage a top 5 GC which will be a great result after a very lumpy last stage.
Would be great if we can keep second in Teams and Young Riders.
I would like to see Dieteren in the break but I suspect he might be supporting Dulanjana.
Congrats to Marco and thanks for the report Ulrich.

After taking a deserved rest on the sprint stages Amador got the job done and took the yellow jersey in the TT. Also, I am really happy to see Josue Gonzalez Cortes finishing 7th on this stage, that's a very good result for him. Now, we need to take care of business and defend the yellow jersey on the last stage. It's easier said than done, but I am keeping my fingers crossed we'll manage that.
Congratulations, Marcovdw, on the stage win and thank you, Ulrich, for the excellent report! |

Obviously somewhat annoyed of losing the yellow jersey especially since I expect Boswell to win tomorrow's stage and take home green. A few relatively weak performances from Potocki and Ellissonde see us losing out on a bunch of depth scoring in the GC as well if we dont get our stuff together tomorrow! Thanks for the report!

Hard to complain about a race in which you won 2 stages but a few what might have beens for us.
Boswell was great in Stage 3, asserting superiority in a stage where he had a big edge on the field. But where was that aggression in Stage 7? 40k to go Haga gone, I thought Mas and Boswell were going to put the peloton to the sword instead we end up with a 13-rider mass sprint. Credit to Hello Fresh, if they don't have 3 strong riders in the front group maybe it ends differently. So a final 7th on the GC is solid but not great and disappointing on the points jersey. Not sure if the PpRD make it a good decision to send him.
Stage 4, a fine lead out for the win, the really nice thing being Granigan, one of my original 6 young riders set it up. But then Keough collapses on Stage 4, 300 meters from the end, and we get 6th and minimal points. Of course collapsing with 300 meters is much more typical than winning so I guess 1 out of 2 isn't bad but still bittersweet.
Congrats to Amador and Volcanica for best surfing the different stage types. A deserved win.

Mas really should have attacked much earlier or benefitted more from having Borisavljevic and Paez in that group but I suppose we will settle for 4th and 5th in the GC here as well as 13th from Paez too.
Could have done with some better stage results from the team though as points can be scarce in C2 races but we will take the GC points.
Thank you for the detailed reports and the rate at which they were produced! Congrats to Volcanica, good to see Amador perform well for you

To be honest, a bittersweet race for the team. While we've placed 3 riders in the Top 25, a stage win and Barta finally beating McNulty (third time's the charm), the last stage was a huge smack back in reality as Jacobsen fell from 7th to 17th. Though not very happy with the outcome, it was a ray of light at the end of a long tunnel.
Congrats to DarkWolf for the GC win

Amazing performance by Pavlic in California. Stage win on the first and ending with a podium and 9th GC. We love you man!

Great performance from Kraftwerk in the last stage which delivered an unexpected points haul.
Was hoping for a breakaway win from Dieteren, but for him to protect Dulanjana so he keeps his 3rd on GC, get dropped, then come back and go straight through the group for a stage win is like a fairy tale ending.
Helme managed to hand on to his 2nd in Young Riders and both he and Dieteren finished in the top 25 GC.
Costagli managed a 19th place on the stage which retained our second in the Teams by a single second!
Congrats to DarkWolf for the win and thanks to Ulrich for some super reporting.

How to throw it all away in the final stage.
Not mad about losing the KoM, there were a lot of points available today and others were simply better than Selander. Haga though with a very, very bad day to lose four minutes and drop out of the top 10.
It's easy to relativize this failure as only being C2 level but careful planning went into this. It's easy to send weak squads to the mandatory C2 races as PCT teams but given the profiles Haga had a serious chance of ending up high in the GC which he should have done before today. The last hurray from him and Selander who have been with the team since the very beginning.
Congratulations DarkWolf! Thanks Ulrich for taking on reporting duties!

Well done Darkwolf.
Very happy in the end to make my goal of top 10, did it with 2 riders in the end. Craddock really on fire this year, nice little bonus taking the Green Jersey (Glanbia's first I think!) Have to be realistic though it wasn't a huge points haul, needed Dan Martin to be going for top 5, need more mountains
Great report Ulrich
