This is my ideal top 5:
1: Alberto Contador
2: Levi Leipheimer
3: Andreas Klöden( if he races)
4: Carlos Sastre
5: Alejandro Valverde
As you see i'm a big Astana fan, let's crush the opposition guys |

wow..what a top 3..and you aint probably Astana fan...you are Contador fan. Because if we take Contador away..we dont have much left about this team..team like CSC is much stronger. |

Sastre FTW!

I hope Sastre wins, but I can see Contador taking the victory unfortunately. Many of the favourites have had an exhausting year, so I think someone like Mosquera or Anton could make the podium. |

Contador is the favorite but I hope in a fair Vuelta with many anti-doping controls.
If they do serious controls I think we should have many surprises. |

Now Efimkin is also out. Complications arose with his wife's pregnancy.
EDIT: Sérgio Paulinho says it's becoming less and less likely that Klöden will ride the Vuelta and the final Astana squad won't be chose until Andreas makes up his mind between a Grand Tour and his home race the Deutschland Tour that he's never had a chance of winning.
Until he makes up his mind, the only riders confirmad are Contador, Leipheimer and Paulinho

Klöden's riding the Vuelta.
That makes it 4 Astana riders confirmed: Contador, Leipheimer, Klöden and Paulinho.
If they don't win with that team, I'll laugh my ass off.

Yay, Paulinho... Hayfever is over, he should be alright now. I am over with it also.
Contador would win with any team though. Leipheimer and kloden are big names but they're just side shows in the case the main event doesn't entertain.
This reminds me of Guido talk about Contador having a 10% dope reduction on the Giro to make it look like he's struggling, or something like that. Or was it Stairs who said that? It was an interesting argument. |

The race hasn't started yet and you're already talking about dope. I hate all you guys that live for the dope stories more than the dopers themselves. *sigh*

Yeah, sure. Contador is NOT doped. He have been cleared for all suspicion, and there's no reason to think that Contador ever was doped! |

I hardly think the dopers themselves live for the dope stories

You clearly don't know much about the topic. But that isn't a talk for this thread. Don't worry, he'll win and you'll be happy
I wonder what Popovych and Cunego will be able to do, I wonder if Klöden will bounce back and who will be the revelations. I also wonder what Gesink and Antón's performances will be now that they're leaders, and how Zaugg and Mosquera will do.
To me that's the interesting bits, not "who will win", since Contador has this sewn up unless he comes up with an illness or injury.

any logic counting says like..that would be quite easy for Contador. He's Olympic ride show us that he is coming to close he's top form...Evans looked exausted and now he is out at the vuelta. Leipheimer in shape..also I belive Klöden.
Sastre peaked perfectly for TdF..and has probably already this perfect season is over for me look..he is fighter. podium place we will still get.
Efimkin is out..sad he looked great.
Inresting to see how..TdF disaster boys Cunego and Popo will manage.
Gesink ..Anton..there is still lot to wach. |

Plus, people seem to forget Contador is improving from year to year. This year's Contador would bury last year's Contador in a deep hole.
I don't think anyone stands a chance, except of course Basso who would be far superior...but he's suspended.
So, that's why I won't pay much attention to the overall fight unless Contador gets into trouble.

yep this is true...people always like young and succesful-promising riders. This isnt much..rider best years comes almost every time when they get 25..
and if you think 31 is old rider already..nope he's into best ages as possible.
This is ofcorse individual..
But give young guys time to develop what they realy can be. Cycling isnt gymnastic's..they realy need to be matured ..to be ready |

Well Leipheimer beat Contador in a small spanish race today, if Leipheimer can beat Contador clearly in the tt's he can be pretty close to Contador in the GC. Anyway I think Leipheimer is in too good form to only be a helper for Conta. |

Leipeihmer is going to get his ass kicked very hard by contador, on the climbs, and besides Leipeihmer only made on fantastic TT in his life (last TT in TDF last year), most of his other TT's are just average.
