I don't know if going on Sprinter was the best option. I don't know if going on Sprinter was the best option. Bewley scored the most points in the PT for a long time, but this year the top 3 consisted only of the best climbers. Bewley scored the most points in the PT for a long time, but this year the top 3 consisted only of the best climbers. Ewans needs to score more points this season, or an okay climber needs to be brought in this year. Ewans needs to score more points this season, or an okay climber needs to be brought in this year. This year will only unfortunately be again a very difficult year for your team. |

This is the weirdest repetitive post I have seen in a while.
While it might be correct, TMMs team without a sprinter focus would look weird. |

I don’t think so or know if it will be but I couldn’t stand one part of withoutnonsense’s post going unrepeated
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"

@withoutnonsense - Climbing? No thanks, that's the boring obvious and easy way to win. Got my eyes on another sprinter/classics man to help us as we develop talents.
@roturn - I'm far too invested in Ewan at this stage, and have enough planned cap space to partner him with a Manninen-esque rider

@jandal - If i put a little training on AC we could have a very nice year

The Great Big "Sponsors Intro" Post
As promised here's our update intro to all our sponsors! We heartily welcome Caribbean Tourism & Sea Turtle Conservation to our project. Putting a more regional focus of the Caribbean/Canada/North America on the team we hope will boost our fan base and re-energise the managers long-term interest.
IMAX
The Canadian's who created the best film format provide a unique partnership. Global reach, constant evolutions, a great sponsorship that returns after a long break. They would love a strong North American representation on the team as we shift more back to our roots.
Caribbean Tourism
A region wider sponsor consisting of numerous stake holders from small shacks selling Piragua, up to major Government departments. A major player on the team and heralding our major focus shift to the great Islands with the white beaches and incredible sporting passion.
Mount Gay Rum
The Barbadian alcohol firm is the oldest producer of Rum in the entire world. It's a huge global brand with interests in all markets, especially the Americas. For them growing brand awareness against other Caribbean companies is key, doing this on a platform of local riders could be fun.
Mauritius Commercial Bank
The Mauritian bank is the largest and oldest in the country. In the last few years it's been a real innovator and grower in the African market. A great opportunity for them to begin growing more globally and for us to get a unique partner. They love marketing one of the two females in the peloton.
Hincapie Sportswear
The American sportswear manufacturer continues with the team this year. Steeped in cycling history the famous Hincapie name is well known in the top echelons of cycling. A growing market globally they want more North American rider presence to market from.
Scott Sports
The Swiss bike manufacturer continues as an official partner. It's not about being Swiss, it's about being fast! And Scott make some of the quickest bikes on the planet. A long history of innovation, including the aero (aka Tri) handlebars, just perfect for a sprinting and flat based squad.
Shimano
The Japanese firm is one the biggest players in the world of cycling. Their components are on an insane number of bikes and teams. It's a quality partnership that will only benefit the team, and given their global position any strong riders are enough to keep them happy.
Sea Turtle Conservation
Our all-new NC sponsor. Cycling is one way to save the planet, so at the same time we want to boost our eco footprint. We are raising awareness of a range of projects across the Caribbean to try and protect as many of these amazing animals as possible.
Kraken
Our partnership management unit handling the day-to-day running of the franchise. The revolutionary partnership will help drive the teams counter-culture concepts and boost us to a new age!

AC training sounds awesome, such a cool rider which you won’t often hear me say about a time triallist

Nice mix of sponsors as always, but as a Canucks fan, not too sure how much I like Kraken
Spoiler (Unless Kraken is different to the new NHL team, but based on your like of other Seattle teams, and the coloring, Im betting its the sports team)

@jandal - We'll see what we can do with him. Certainly i'm never training Altur again
@valverde - As a former Canucks fan myself it's an awkward place to be But it's only management support here Saving the actual hockey for elsewhere

The Great Big "Actually Not Renewals" Post
How do you generate buzz and unqiue HQ visits when all anyone is talking about is the Post-Renewals landscape? Correct! You do something that has nothing to do with renewals or transfers! This is how you #ad
Before transfers kicks off our esteemed DS, TMM, needs to update their avatar. Samara Weaving has been an excellent choice for the last year(!) but we're looking to new horizons here at Podium Ambiton.

Check out the above Poll. Cast your vote! Make suggestions. And all will be revealed and updated in the coming couple of days, as well as the obligatory gif loaded actual renewals post.

@DarkWolf - Well that certainly is a "other" suggestion
The Great Big "Renewals" Post
We've teased y'all long enough, left guessing what crazy shenanigans Podium Ambition have been up to! So we'll finally run through our pre-transfers look.
Nat. | Name | Age | Key Stats | Wage | Nickname | | Caleb Ewan | 27 | 83SP 71HL | 600k | Pocket Rocket | | Marcos Altur | 28 | 82CB 70HL | 300k | Altoro | | Alex Cataford | 28 | 79TT 72MO | 175k | AC | | Jon Aberasturi | 32 | 79SP 75PL | 110k | Jon | | Logan Owen | 26 | 77CB 71AC | 95k | Wolverine | | Julian Alaphilippe | 29 | 77SP 73HL | 80k | Ala | | Ramon Domene | 31 | 76CB 75SP | 50k | Ramon | | Alexander Edmondson | 28 | 77SP 74CB | 70k | Edmo | | Darren Matthews | 30 | 76SP 75CB | 50k | Darren | | Jyme Bridges | 32 | 72HL 71CB | 60k | Jyme | | Kim Le Court | 25 | 76HL 76FT | 60k | Queen | | Hayato Okamoto | 26 | 75SP 70PL | 50k | Ok | | Bram Welten | 24 | 74SP 69CB | 50k | Bram | | Kristin Vanderpool | 26 | 75TT 76PL | 50k | Kristin | | David Dekker | 23 | 71SP 68CB | 75k | Double D |
Highlights: Ewan's wage has stabilised, and we're ok with this having seen some of the other increases going around. Certainly gives the FA market a guide price for some of big name fast men available.
Alturs monumental, history making season has given him an ego and wage rise. We did explain his records were over the bad kind, but something was lost in translation.
Aberasturi, Julian, AC, Darren, Domene and Dekker all take marginal cuts. Whilst Bridges and Le Court get marginal gains due to their Jersey wins.
We were slightly perplexed at Wolverines insistence on increasing wage, despite no stat gain. The OVL hike butchered him, as does the increasing C2 limits knocking him out of those races. Although this is compensated by being the only training focus we have in the team.
You can see we've said good bye to various riders. Most notable is Ricki Nelson, who at one point established himself as the CT's best sprinter and was surprisingly competitive at higher levels in a 6-year stay with the team. Kek, Insausti, Dredd & Lily are also gone, and Steimle returns to Puma after a loan-year.
This leaves the team needing to sign up 5 riders in transfers. I'll be honest, there should be zero surprises to anyone which FA's we're targeting this season. Although we do have one or two interesting ideas up our sleeves...
In terms of availability, it's a No. Maybe we'll let OK, Domene & Aberasturi go but only if we get a similar rider from a country closer to our focuses. Really this is a year for the FA Market and an acceptance we might be fighting relegation more than promotion.

I don't know how high your bribe to the MGUCI was to get all these random juicy Carribeans into the game, but have fun with them I guess!
And thank you for allowing Steimle to learn from the best sprint train team!
(I said best sprint train, not best sprint)

Darn, Gaviria wouldn't bite at 600K. Biggest wage was the one part of the rivalry I hoped not to win
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

@Cio - No bribes, just a smart and dedicated scouting team. Still a long long way behind the raft of random Sri Lankans floating around the place!
Jacob () Steimle was an excellent addition, if we were keeping the broader focus i'd be heading your way with the MGUCI Bribe money to sign him full time.
@Ollfardh - Well Gaviria is a sprinter that can win GC's, Ewan is the world best lead-out man since Mark Renshaw, that's why he's cheaper
If i wasn't going more region focused i'd be all over you this Transfers to sign him & Bonifazio and a couple of others.

The Great Big "Pirates of the Caribbean, Curse of the Black Pearl" Post
Come on, y'all knew this title was going to be appearing at some point! Although this does mean we can only do 5 transfer updates, so i'm hoping our period continues to go smoothly.
Right, without further ado, let me introduce someone not from the Caribbean!
| Christopher Lagane | 23 | 73SP 72HL | 50k | Lagane |
The Mauritian joins with a nice dual threat skill-set. This gives us options in development with a Potential of 6! However this is balanced by starting at XP3.00 We forsee a shift more to the punchy side of things as a 77HL 75SP combo is very tasty.
| Jay Major | 26 | 77SP 70CB | 50k | Jay |
Jay should be the double NC of the Bahamas, but was never registered as his old team folded. But he's got a new home with us and can perform as a quality lead-out man.
| Hasani Hennis | 24 | 72SP 71 TT | 50k | HH |
Hasani becomes the first rider from Anguilla to compete at this level. We see his future as a TT/SP hybrid, a lynch pin in the future TTT and Sprint set-ups in the squad.
| Andrew Norbert | 23 | 70SP 69TT | 50k | Andy |
Andy becomes the first rider from St. Lucia to compete at this level. We see his future as a TT/SP hybrid, a lynch pin in the future TTT and Sprint set-ups. Very much the same as Hennis above, but with significantly better support stats.
A strong start to transfers, locking down 4 of our Top-8 targets without breaking a sweat. Nothing too crazy but this is Year 1 of a long project to build up Caribbean cycling. HH, Andy & Jay make a great starting base whilst Lagane could become a perfect training candidate. We are happy and rolling to sign up several more riders yet.

Congrats on the signings. Love Norbert, tried to convince myself that small Caribbean nations would be a reasonable expansion from my US focus so I could target him. But didn't really have the cap space in the end. 50k is a great price.

I'll be honest, I was tempted by the Caribbean riders, but in the end I stayed true to my team's focus. I hold no promises in the future.
I have a soft spot for Hasani Hennis especially, he was my core piece for a Caribbean team I played with in a PCM career. |

@Ulrich - Always happy to get a Potential 6 on minimum wage! He certainly interests me as a future training focus, and is taking up about 25 different rows in my development planning spreadsheet to cover his wide range of skills.
@DarkWolf - I'm not like some managers who try to claim a monopoly (despite my bidding patterns ). Hopefully in a few seasons there'll be enough Caribbeans floating around we can host the Worlds, and make a special invite to some of the Central American nations

That's my line of thinking too. Although I am tempted by some riders I really like I try to focus on my region as much as possible. After all, I get a great amount of satisfaction when the teams I build start to be competitive. It might take a while longer but the satisfaction is far greater for me.
I second to that. You'll have my full support and hopefully the Central American nations would get invited too. And later maybe the Worlds could happen the other way around too. |
