Hello everyone..
Im into my third season with BMC playing on normal difficulty.
After promotion to the pro tour at the end of the first season, the team dominated the overall team ranks with some 2k points of advantage over second place Milram and 50+ wins in season 2.
Lars Boom had something like 17 wins(5 wins in the tour alone) and was simply unstoppable for most of the season. World champ in the ITT.. dutch champ in ITT and RR
Chris Meier came out of no where to become a team leader and to win somwthing like 15 wins including 3rd place in both the tour and vuelta
Vandevelde had a couple of top 5 finishes(paris nice) in some pro tours and a few wins in some smaller tours(tour of Deucthland)..
Pecharroman had a couple of big wins including 3rd place at the Giro.. he was cut for my 3rd season to make salary space for new faces
Mercado had 9 wins.. cut for 3rd season as well
*notable riders(2nd season) Sosenka, Brambilla, Siskevicius, Castroviejo, Kohler(Austria RR champ), Mcgee(Aussie champ), Quiterio(Portugal RR champ),
Now into the 3rd season.. in early february
the team received a new facelift
*new riders.. Lovkvist, Danielson, Pfannberger, Fedrigo, Cuapio, Millar, Wiggins, Pate, Fischer, Ventoso |

Team CSC - Saxobank
before ENECO Tour
January
- O'Grady claims the second place in the Aussie Championships
- I send a bad overall team to Down Under, but Haedo and Goss did some perfect jobs and Haedo won three stages and the Points jersey
February
- The only race was Tour of California, Frank Schleck on 11th after crash in second position in the last stage. Cancellara won the points ranking and two stages.
March
- Omloop Het Volk, Cancellara on 5th winning the sprint of the second group
- Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne, went terrible, O'Grady and Kroon on 12th and 13th. Cancellara didn't race.
- Paris - Nice, won by Andy, Kolobnev on 7th after a breakaway went in.
- Tirreno - Adriatico, Fränk on third, he lost the lead after the TT.
- Cancellara on seventh with two stage wins, he crashed on the toughest stage.
- Milan - SanRemo, 5th to 7th, Arvesen, Cancellara and Fränk.
- E3 Harelbreke, Arvesen on 4th, he was the best cob-rider I sent.
April
- Ronde van Vlaanderen, went terrible. Cancellara crashed and got injured, O'Grady on 12th and Arvesen on 13th.
- Pais Vasco, I sent Schlecks and Sastre, and all the good hill riders and tried to set a train like IRL, and it worked very well Fränk won some stages and overall, Sastre on third and one stage win, and Andy on fourth overall.
- Gent - Wevelgem, first time there was a bunch sprint for me in that race! O'Grady on fourth. Cancellara didn't race, trying to recover to P-R.
- Paris - Roubaix, Cancellara just stopped and retired 10 km from finish! Probably in cause of his injury. I got O'Grady in the front group, but he was very tired because he had made a big effort. All the seven other riders in the O'Grady group attacked when 5 km remained(of course not O'Grady), but Stuart took almost all of them in the sprint and went on second.
- Amstel Gold Race, La Fleche Wallone and Liege-Bastione-Liege were won by Fränk after I set my train in front of the peloton and kicked ass on the idiots who tried to attack, then I attacked with 4-2km to go and won! Perfect tactics
May
- Tour de Romandie was won by Voigt
- Giro d'Italia, TTT win, and two stages with C.A. Sørensen who lost 12 places on the final TT. Larsson 9th, Voigt 15th and Sørensen 19th...
- Catalunia, Just sent "bad" riders, but Cuesta went on 9th.
June
- Dauphine Libere, sent the giro riders that were way too tired, 7th with Sørensen, though.
- Tour de Suisse, Carlos won, Andy third and Fränk on 6th. Carlos was the captain for TdF, then.
- Nationals, Won with N.Sørensen, Arvesen and Voigt on RR.
July
- TdF
Stage 1- Sastre and all the favourites, except of Leipheimer and Schlecks crashed, the crashers lost two minutes, but Cancellara won the stage infront of Schumacher. Andy was the captain now.
- won three breakaways, two with Arvesen and one with N.Sørensen. Leipheimer won three mountain stages, and he had the yellow with 2'30 before Cuneo-Jausiers, were he lost 1'30 downhill to Evans, Schlecks and Sastre.
- Alpe d'Huez, Sastre won this, Andy and Fränk 1 minute behind, but LEIPHEIMER 5 MINUTES BEHIND!!!! That means 1st, 2nd and 3rd to Andy, Fränk and Carlos!
- Carlos lost the third on the TT by Leipheimer, but the TdF was still a sensation with double Schleck and fourth for Carlos!
August
- Post Danmark Rundt, Dekker won overall, while Breschel on second, and Haedo with the points jersey.
- Paris-Correze, Kroon did a third and a second on the two stages and won the overall. Kolobnev was the super helping rider and did the second place overall, and a stage win on the last stage

This thread was a good idea, I always like reading how other people's careers have gone - it gives me a little motivation to get my own back on track. Unfortunately I'm a little busy at work (you know, I wish my work was similar to Damius's, not even internet access god dammit ) so I'll wait until I get some time off in a weeks time to get going again |

Team Columbia Season 2
Well, as you can see from the post on the previous page, this season's goals should be a doddle!
So, how to achieve them?
Option 1: Edit the goals so they just say "wave at the fans in various races" - would make the season easier but somehow I don't think its very realistic....
Option 2: Overthrow the sponsors, buy out the team, install more reasonable goals - can't find the button to click on for that......
Option 3: Pick my races carefully, ride hard, and hope for some good fortune on the way. Sounds like option 3 is the winner!
For this season, I have a number of very good stage racers:
Team leaders: Ricco and Kirchen
Protected riders: Gerdemann and Rogers
Luxury Team Mates: Pardilla, Lovkvist and Siutsou
Team Mates: Devine and Blanco
Hopefully, I can give these riders at least one GT each, with the aim of having at least 3 GC capable riders in each, one going for the victory, and 2 in support (in case of injury or crash)
At season start the GTs will be ridden as follows:
Giro
Ricco
Pardilla
Gerdemann
Tour
Kirchen
Rogers
Lovkvist
Vuelta
Ricco
Pardilla
Kirchen
....although I expect it will all change! Siutsou, Devine and Blanco I'm not sure about yet)

I also had an issue with the sponsor goals set for my team in season three. After having met all the goals in season two(which included goals like top 10 finish and stage win in TDF, vuelta points leader for one day, top five san sabastian etc..) i was given some very unrealistic and almost impossible goals:
overall win in tdf
overall win in vuelta
points win in vuelta
1st in paris roubaix( i dont even have a top cobbles rider)
1st in san sabastian
wtf??
my top gc man is christian meier with ratings of 80mt/76tt(who finished a very distant third in the tour and vuelta the previous season). So im ashamed to admit that for the first time i actually had to use the editor and "cheat" alittle by changing the goals to:
top 3 in tour
top 3 in vuelta
top 5 in paris roubaix
1st overall tour of california(bmc racing is based in america)
1st overall tour of switzerland(bmc is a swiss based company)
do you guys think i went soft with the new goals or are they pretty realistic? |

Don't worry, damius. Most of us have tried to 'cheat' by editing the save game. That being a higher salary cap, higher budget, sponsor goals, riders' fatigue, fitness etc.
Besides, I wouldn't call your tweaking 'cheating'. You've just made your goals a tad more realistic |

I don't think its cheating personally. Those goals before were ridiculous. Good luck for the new season |

I'd say that editing unrealistic sponsor goals. adding more money, as the Continental teams often hasn't enough money to a full season, unless you don't buy anything (equipment, staff).

My take on editing the goals would be that as General Manager for a team, I would have some say in 'persuading' the sponsors what realistic team goals would be, and so editing a couple of them isn't a big issue imho.
Of my goals I think the following are entirely reasonable given the squad I have:
Win the Tour of California
Top 3 in the Giro
Top 5 in the Vuelta
considering that last year I did win the ToC, and did get 2 top 5 finishes in the GTs. If I can get 3 out of 5 goals than I'm happy!
BTW, played a bit of season 2 last night as well......
Team Columbia - Season 2 - Opening Weeks
Australian Championship
A dramatic attack by Michael Rogers with 15km to go saw him successfully defend his Australian Championship against a fast closing Cadel Evans! Good support by Hansen and Crawford helped a great deal.
Tour Down Under
A good start to Mark Cavendish's season with a stage victory and the Overall Points Jersey. Cavendish also wore the Leader's Jersey for 3 days. A badly timed attack by Michael Rogers on Willunga Hill saw him caught before the line by Pozzato, denying him the overall lead. Wiggins finished highest up the GC in 7th after a big pile up with 10km to go in the final stage took out Rogers, Cavendish and a host of other riders.
Next up.....Tour of Malaysia and Tour of California |

looking at your team i think the goals they gave you were fairly reasonable.. you could well win all three GCs with that team

You open DYN_team. Then you find the colums named finay_f_intial_amount, finam_f_intial_amount and finan_f_season_income. In thoose three colums you add the same amount of money in each, other wise you might screw-up the savegame. If you want to have more money for salaries you have to chance in the colum finan_f_allowed_BMSC, but it's quiet hard to find the exact number as the number standing, ain't for a month, but for the whole year. Hope you understood.
