has something changed to the site or is it just my internet screwing up?
because I've got an 19" widescreen, and normally it's all filled up with the site, but now, there are two white strokes on both sides of the site...
You're definitely right.
We've decided to lock the sites width, so that it looks the same on all screens.
I think the plan is to put some kind of background image on the white areas in the sides.

The posts look the same size to me, just scrunched up. |

That's what I use and I could swear the posts and text are exactly the same size, except for the width, which is obviously different on all displays. |

The problem is that about 80 % of the visitors used IE with 1024x768. This meant that half of the site wasn't visible to them due to the banner being too large. Therefore, we have had to do this instead. |

I can understand it, but it's still a step back for those with 1440x900 |

I use that resolution, and if you can't see anything, you really need to get glasses. |

It seems pushed/squished into the left corner now and I dont like it. If I look at it too long its probably going to give me a headache.

Didnt the banner stretch anyway to suit different screen sizes?

Not possible on IE I presume. It stretched fine on Firefox for me.
Btw: It looks better centred than at one side of the screen (Not that I think its any good compared to what it was)

That was the problem. IE didn't render the site like it should. FF did, of course, since it's the best browser.
