Yeah well Bjarne was not in the Tour last year as a result of his doping admittance. They also had riders like Bo Hamburger, Brian Holm, Jesper Skibby Tyler Hamilton, Ivan Basso and Jørg jaksche who have either been caught and admitted to doping. Ivan Basso was the only rider who was caught while being a CSC rider, and was promply suspended as a result. (and who signed him while being under investigation in relation to Operation Puerto? Thats right, Armstrongs boss and now Astana boss, Johann Bruynell).
Jørg jaksche admitted to doping while being a CSC rider, but the team has since applied a strickt antidoping testing system, so I don't think they should be excluded. Obviously I'm Danish, so I am extremely biased |

I just read that ASO has decided to put Bjarne Riis back on the records as winner of TdF 1996. |

what? Seriously. Thats dumb
Also: Rasmussen will appeal to CAS
Following the news that Michael Rasmussen was handed a two-year suspension by the Monaco cycling federation on Tuesday, the Dane has announced his intention to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the hope of having the suspension reduced. Rasmussen's former team, Rabobank, was recently ordered by a court in The Netherlands to pay him 665,000 euro in compensation after he was sacked during last year's Tour de France for lying about his whereabouts prior to the race.
"The court ruling still gives me a positive turning point in my case," Rasmussen told Sporza. "I am more convinced than ever that CAS will reduce my suspension and I can start to compete again in 2009."

This is just getting more and more confusing by the minute.
And Rasmussen can just go away now I think, he has got his precious money, why keep annoying everyone and destroying the sport |

They have put him as the winner with a note about his doping admittance. If we were to deem a winner that year without some kind of doping relation who would it be?

Apparently ASO doesn't like american champions they believe doped (Landis, Armstrong), but they're perfectly okay with european champions believed to have doped (Riis, Indurain, Pantani, Ullrich).
The inconsistency taking Landis's title and letting Riis keep his shows is just odd. Is it really a hatred of Americans? It just seems so silly. |

Well, the reason is that 10 years has gone so they can't change the results because of that 10 year-rule. So it's not because he is not American, obviously.

CUNEGO GOES DOPING FREE
Damiano Cunego (Lampre) has agreed to be part of a new anti-doping initiative in Italy and will ride the Tour de France with a temporary tattoo on his arm saying “I'm Doping Free”.
Cunego agreed to sign up to the campaign after reading a letter published in the Gazetta dello Sport newspaper by club cyclist Marco Guadagnini. The former Giro d'Italia winner and overall contender in the Tour de France will officially present the campaign before the start of the Tour on Saturday.
“We've got to launch a message and we've got to show that we want to change things,” Cunego told Gazzetta.
“It's nothing to be ashamed. It's important that people know that life and sport is about hard work and making sacrifices, not taking short cuts.”
“I think people will be surprised by how many athletes sign up to the “I'm doing free” project.”
uhhhh.... a tattoo saying 'i'm dope free' yeah....
Here's the detail no one seems to be mentioning: It's not a real tattoo. it's just painted on his arm.
If that was a metaphor, it would say a lot about Cunego.

that would mean a tatto that disappears on it's own after a while, like 3 years or so. it's not even a tatto, it's a painting

Not really you can get temporary tattoo's like at the beach that come off after about a week or so
They just stick on and after having a shower every day, it rubs off.
EDIT:
Temporary transfer tattoos
Old fashioned tattoos, which were first made popular as inserts in bubble gum, were poor quality ink transfers that often resulted in blurry designs and could easily be washed or rubbed off. Nonetheless, these lick-and-peel temporary tattoos became a well-known piece of Americana.
Modern temporary transfer tattoos are made of ink and glue, and last much longer than older temporary tattoos. In this process, the tattoo is applied to the outer surface of the skin and remains until such time as the image fades away (typically after 3-5 days) or is removed.

I'm not disputing that. I'm telling you it's a painting in this case. please don't make me go searching the cycling sites for the link of whichever article I read it in.

Britain have named their Olympic cycling squad:
BMX: Shanaze Reade (Women's BMX) and Men's BMX - (One rider to be announced)
Mountain Bike: Oliver Beckingsale and Liam Killeen
Road: Jonny Bellis (Men's Road Race), Steve Cummings (Men's Road Race & Individual Time Trial), Roger Hammond (Men's Road Race), Ben Swift (Men's Road Race), Nicole Cooke (Women's Road Race), Sharon Laws (Women's Road Race) and Emma Pooley (Women's Road Race).
Track: Steven Burke (Team Pursuit), Mark Cavendish (Madison), Edward Clancy (Team Pursuit), Ross Edgar (Team Sprint and Keirin), Chris Hoy (Sprint, Team Sprint and Keirin), Jason Kenny (Sprint and Team Sprint), Paul Manning (Team Pursuit), Chris Newton (Points Race), Victoria Pendleton (Sprint), Rebecca Romero (Women's Pursuit and Points Race), Jamie Staff (Team Sprint), Geraint Thomas (Team Pursuit), Bradley Wiggins (Individual Pursuit, Team Pursuit and Madison) and Wendy Houvenaghel (Women's Individual Pursuit).
The big surprises come in the Mens road race selection of Cummings, Bellis, Swift and Hammond.
Many may have expected Wiggins to ride but as he is sensibly focusing on the Track, Cummings is the next best option for the Time Trial, which also means he rides the Road Race. I would have chosen him in my team of 4 even if Wiggins was riding anyway.
Bellis and Swift are a surprise inclusion, but great choices imo. It gives them valuable experience against the worlds best and they are 2 very talented young talents.
Finally we come to Hammond. Why oh why oh why!!!?!?!? I cannot believe they picked him. So many more riders deserve it more and are better suited to the terrain. Hayles, Wegelius, Lloyd and the Downings to name but a few.
