again: Bennati is injured and won't be contesting

McEwen for the jersey. Freire stands a chance, but I'll calling it for the Aussie right now. Maybe third for Zabel, if he can get enough points from consistent finishes.

you're conveniently forgetting the fact that he won green when he wasn't on a fast decline
And you're forgetting that he just came off of two stage wins in the Tour de Suisse, ahead of both Freire and Ciolek. Decline? Yeah. Not to mention, he was right up there with Bennati and Cav during the Giro. He's been sprinting decently; not like he used to, but definitely consistent. If anybody can take advantage of a depleted field like the one we are about to see, it's Robbie.
Speaking of Ciolek.. |

I've been saying it (A_Schleck has too, just mentioning him so he doesn't yell at me for forgetting him ) for so long that McEwen decayed after the 2006 season. he doesnt' have the speed and most importantly the jump, the brisk turn of pace that he had.
Still fast? yes. However, he didn't impress me in Switzerland at all. Yes, he was ahead of an injured Freire and a young Ciolek. Not very impressive in my book
As for the Giro, he wasn't "right there with Bennati and Cav". he was right behind them every time.

My guess is that Freire will win since he is the best sprinter at the moment, but I believe Cav or Hunter will take most stage wins. |

Steegmans (Mm... Steegmans... No)
Pozzato (Green not , stage win maybe)
Cavendish (When he want to finish the Tour de France , he could get green , why not?)
Ciolek (He could get a stage win , but maybe more for a hilly sprint , Green jersey -> Cavendish)
Eisel (Mm... Eisel... No)
Zabel (I think he will arrive in Paris on his bike , I think Freire won´t for example , so I think he has got a good chance for green , but he is 38/39/40/100?)
Freire (Has he ever arrived in Paris on his bike? I can´t remember , I think he will take the Tour as a good preparation for the Olympics)
O´Grady (Mm... O´Grady... No)
Förster (Förster will maybe fighting for a Top 3 Place in a sprint but green? No)
McEwen (Ooh McEwen , I think he is better than Zabel at the moment but he is also 38 I think? I hope he will get green (because he won it 2002 , 2004 and 2006 , so 2008 is maybe his year?)
Isasi (A Euskaltel sprinter is rare , a good one is more rare , Isasi is the first one , maybe he will surprising? (His best stage place was a 3rd at the Tour 2006) I think Isasi is the most underrated sprinter at PCM
06.07.2006: 5th Stage , 225.0 km
1. Freire, Oscar Gomez (Rabobank) 5:18:50
2. Boonen, Tom (Quick Step - Innergetic) 0:00
3. Isasi Flores, Inaki (Euskaltel - Euskadi) 0:00
Hunter (Mm... Hunter... I would like to see him winning a stage again but I think green isn´t possible)
Cooke (Mm... Cooke... No)
Feillu (Mm... Feillu... No)
Casper (Mm... Casper... No) |

About McEwen...all his wins in Switzerland were won with a lead-out train...He is not going to be led-out by his team at the Tour, so i really don't see him doing anything ! |

Rin: Where was Hushovd in your considerations?
fefj: I think that McEwen has showed time and time again that he is an expert in taking advantage of other teams trains. How many wins have he snatched off Milrams train?
I see him as the best sprinter in the bunch when it comes to finding the right wheel in the sprint. |

Isasi sucks
if you want a good euskaltel sprinter, take Fernandez, but I can name about 80 riders faster than Isasi in a sprint.

Agreed. I just wish he was riding in the Tour.

Exactly. He did it last year during the Tour, and he can do it again. First stage of last year, for example.
That said, Cav's recent announcement does not bode well for us McEwen fans.
