who cares. You dont need to linger on every word that comes out of there mouth. Im sure once in a while something that comes out of your mouth you realize that is sounds stupid afterwards. I mean come on give them a break.

I love the Danish Commentators. Am I really the only one?
No you are not. I enjoy Dennis Ritter and Rolf Sørensen as well as I loved Leth and Mader.

Well in a thread named "stupid announcers" it is natural that there be a lot of silly quotes. What did you expect. I find that it is one of the many great things about watching cycling. When you have to talk for five or six hours, and there is not much action there is bound to be some blunders. It's all in good fun though.

The Dutch commentators are horrible. They don't recognize anyone, they make up stupid terms and are actually more funny than right about everything.
I have some nice Ducrot quotes:
"See him struggling on the big plate, I'm getting a stumache pain of it!"
"Just see him working with his mine worker face!"
"He's drilling through the wind, it's no longer riding, but stamping!"
"This isn't cycling hard, this is mine working!"
"This is simply drilling hard on the 13 or 14 all week"
"Cancellara is riding as if he swallowed a moped!"
"Look at Totschnig struggling on the big plate just next to the fences, I'm getting emotional!"
Or about team orders:
"He's phoning again, just drop the ears (ear pieces/recievers)!"
"What a phone bill those old bitches back in the teamcar will have again!"
About riders in problems:
"You can be called Danilo di Luca 1000 times, you will still be dropped!"
"Look at him riding backwards on the bike with all willpower he has to stay in the last wheel, brilliant!"
"Piepoli is sitting on the bike with his eyes in the back of his head!"
"That guy is screaming for his mother!"
"Mayo always finished 180th in a time trial, even when only 100 riders were starting"
"Last year Rabobank took control of this race. They were riding with 10 men, even though they only started with 9."
Against his co-commentator Dijkstra:
"Can you please shut up for a moment. We are watching a fantastic race and you are mumbling about a nice church!?"
"...Are you drinking my coffee now???"
About Le Tour
"Look at Vinokourov, he's a pussy in corners!"
"There are always 50 riders at the back of the peloton, the last 50, you can't do anything about that!"
"I will eat a piece out of this floor if these two will win the stage!" (Early breakaway with Ladagnous I remember)
"Those two have found such a great motiviation now I'm thinking about that floor..."
"As if you empty a bucket!" (frequent message when a breakaway gets caught)
"In the peloton each favourite is watching the light out of eachothers eyes!"
"With this wind, Rasmussen will simply be blown back on the mountain again."

This is actually quite a brilliant quote, and probably correct

That's exactly what the ITV4 commentators (can't remember their names) are always doing They just take time outs to point out historical chateaux's

I also like the "I will eat a piece out of this floor if these two will win the stage" line, along with the follow-up. That's hilarious

one of our commentators about Hincapie going for the GC in 2006:
"He should stop this nonsense. George Hincapie was born to work, not to shine. At least that's what my teacher always said about me."
EDIT: today, about Gilbert:
Gilbert is like Valverde, a fabulous racer who sadly tends to fade in the big mountains of the Tour because of the pressure, even though he climbs them so well in smaller races"

"I love him, I think he's great. He's transformed the sport in so many ways. Every person in cycling has benefitted from Lance Armstrong, perhaps not financially but in some sense" - Bradley Wiggins on Lance Armstrong
