but how do you know if you have the memory leak?
does the game just randomly CTD in the middle of a stage?
(if so, I've always had that problem with PCM06 and would love to be able to solve it)
EDIT: I'm actually going to try that right now on PCM06.

It has always been a problem with PCM - but with PCM07, it's rather extreme. So yeah, try it out. It might help. A guy on the Cyanide forum actually managed to do 10+ stages without a crash |

well then.
this was weird.
step 1:
played the stage, kept monitoring the RAM usage. it was pretty normal all out, and then the game crashes midway through the stage (it's the problem that has always made the game unplayable for me. most stages crash EVERY SINGLE TIME)
even when it crashed, the RAM usage was pretty normal
step 2:
set it to auto-free RAM every 1 minute.
every time it did that, the game (obviously) ground to a halt.
finished the stage, no problems (except that my sprinter was boxed in and so didn't win )
the RAM usage stayed pretty much the same as step 1. just weird.
even weirder: Robert McLachlan beat Cooke, Zabel, Hushovd, O'Grady AND Nazon in a bunch sprint
Aftermath:
I guess I'll keep using this and see if it crashes (right after I study some more), but having the game grind to a halt midway through every minute doesn't seem like much fun...

1Gb only. and that's definitely the problem.
it's weird, actually. such a top-end PC and only that much RAM.
my birthday's coming up, so I guess I'll get myself a couple of GB of it.

A couple? If you have vista as your operating system then your only supposed to go up to a maximum of 2 gig. I asked if i could have at least 3 but they said over time it reaks havoc and you start to loose files. I am seriously not impressed with microsoft.

nope. XP. I could have vista for free (my college has an arrangement with microsoft that gets us anything that's Microsoft), but I don't because of all the problems it still has.

Good then get something like 4 gigabytes, but the noise your comp will make. Good luck on those ears of yours

I probably will get 4GB.
so I can be sure there won't be any RAM problems for years to come.

we were speaking about the 06. does your 06 crash or your 07?
I'm asking since the thread is about the 07, so it's only natural that it'll confuse some people.
the 07 does have a crash problem that will be fixed in the first patch (or so they say)

Welcome thegame69 -thinks y did he put 69- I think that 4 gigs of RAM may be his best option. Game what size hard drive do you have.

oh sorry, my fault. i thought you were talking about 07.
Hard Drive 1: 200gb
Hard Drive 2: 250gb
and about 100gb free each
I'm really getting sick of this memory leak problem. Can't finish 1 Stage :-( No matter what virtual memory i set

Thats part of your problem. from some people that have been talking about it, you need around 300gb free to run for a while. Can you copy some of your files in hard drive 2 to hard drive 1. then uninstall the game then put it on hard drive 2 with more free memory. thats the only idea i have. If it doesnt work then go to the first page of this thread or wait for the patch.

My lousy computer:
2,6 GHz - Celeron
512 MB Ram
128 MB - Geforce 5200 Ultra (NVidia)
80 GB Harddisk
And still the game (07) runs perfectly. |

It depends on the graphics you set. I can run 06 fine too. but that's with very low graphics. which is crap

the 512 RAM seems to be the perfect RAM. I dont have a clue why but quite a few people with 512 RAM have the game working perfectly. Im baffled
