We also road two stage races in which we took our only win of the month.
Tour of Britain 2.1 (9 - 15 September)
Our man in form turned out to be Rodney getting a very impressive stage win in stage 2. Dan crashed early on in the race (can't remember which stage) which ruined his GC chances, but did manage a decent 6th place in the toughest stage of the race.

When we started racing again with the Tour de Slovaquie at 28th of august, we had dropped to somewhere around the 10th place. After the month September we climbed to, if I remember it correct, 7th place. |

I left out what I think where our two best results of the month September;
As I said, we tried to get the team a wild card to a ProTour race. Sadly with no success.
But we did get a wild card to two HC races with a lot of ProTour teams at the start;
Parijs-Brussel (15 September)
with at the start; Predictor-Lotto, Liquigas, Astana, Rabobank, QuickStep, Crédit Agricole, Bouygues Télécom, Cofidis, Unibet.com and Française des Jeux.
GP de Fourmies (16 September)
with at the start; Française des Jeux, Liquigas, AG2R, QuickStep, Predictor-Lotto, Crédit Agricole, Bouygues Télécom, Cofidis, Unibet.com and Astana.
So this was still a chance to see how our riders would do in field with many strong contenders.
Parijs-Brussel (15 September)
This classic race normally ends in a mass sprint, so we sent almost our complete team of sprinters there; Juan, Daryl, Pieter and Hassan.
Juan and Daryl were off course our key riders. As expected after 225 km it came down to a mass sprint. Hassan, showing great strength, road Juan and Daryl to the front of the pack to start the sprint in the best position possible (eventually ending up 8th himself).
Juan sprinted to the podium pulling Daryl to 4th place.
3th is not 1st, but we were very content with a podium place in this classic race and as a bonus we heard that we did win the team classifications!

GP de Fourmies (16 September)
Because this race was noted as hilly Hassan was our team leader. When the favouretes jumped in the last part of the race Hassan tried to follow. He did get away, but couldn't catch up with Ivanov, wesemann, Nuyens and Leukemans. He did manage to finish in front of the peleton and outsprinted Gadret and Moncoutié the claim the 5th place. Great race from Hassan.

October 2007
The period of rest proved to be a great choice, because our 'fresh' riders got some nice results in September. We hoped this would also lead to good results at our last goals of the season (the Herald Sun Tour).
For most of our riders the season ended in September. Only the riders that would go the Australia for the Herald Sun Tour road our last European race of the season;
Circuit Franco-Belge (2-5 October)
This race consisted out of 4 flat stage races. So for the stage wins aswell as for the GC Juan and Daryl were our key riders.
They road a decent race with as best result Juan's 2th place in the first stage which, because of the bonus seconds, also resulted in the 5th place overall.

Herald Sun Tour 2.1 (7-13 October)
This was our last goal and also last race of the season. After a great season we wanted to go out with a bang.
Our team;
Teamleader
Chris Froome : Chris has specially prepared for this race, we expect that he can claim a top 10 place.
Sprinters
Daryl Impey & Juan van Heerden: They also prepared to perform well here. We expect that Daryl or Juan can give us a stage victory.
Helpers
Rafaâ Chtioui : Rafaâ has really developed himself as a TTer. He is here to help Daryl and Juan for the sprint and test himself in the TTs.
Hassan Ben Nasser : Hassan is also here to help our sprinter.
Travis Allen & Abdelbasset Hannachi : Are here to help out Chris and to get in the breakaway.
STAGE 1
The first stage was a prologue. We counted on Rafaâ, but he only managed 7th place. Chris showed great shape and road to a 3th place.

10th Cameron Meyer SOUTHAUSTRALIA.COM - AIS s.t.
STAGE 2
Some teams were afraid of our sprint force and were reluctant to chase the break away. But we had anticipated on that, because Bassie (Abdelbasset) slipped away with the breakaway. Eventually some teams did decide to chase the breakaway, but they came to late and Bassie was the fittest rider in the break away and had no problem winning the sprint. Daryl made a mistake and won the sprint of the peleton thereby closing the gap to last rider in the breakaway. So we picked up the stage win, but not the leaders jersey.

STAGE 3
With already a stage win in the pocket we took our responsibility and helped to catch the breakaway and with great succes. Daryl and Juan proved to be the strongest and most of all fittest sprinters here and took 1st and 2nd.

STAGE 4
Again we were determent to make it a mass sprint. Especially because Juan could grab the leaders jersey if he got enough time bonus.
We made our own train with Rafaâ pulling Juan and Daryl to the lead. Daryl set up the sprint and Juan finished it off. To good for the rest. Juan finally got his victory this season and with it the leaders jersey.

STAGE 5
Stage 5 was a difficult stage, but we were confident Juan could survive and hold on to the leaders jersey. Travis Allen got in the break away and picked up some KOM points, but didn't help his break away companions.
We kept the breakaway short, but didn't need to real it back in, because they were no real tread for the GC. However on the last hill it all got back together.
Today Hassan pulled the train. He pulled so hard he finish 3rd himself. Again it was Juan he won in front of Daryl.
I couldn't resist taking a picture of this 1,2,3 for the team.
1st Juan Van Heerden TEAM KONICA MINOLTA 3h28'49"

STAGE 6
This was the stage that would determine the GC. It was a difficult uphill TT. It suited Chris perfectly, so we expected great things from him and he didn't disappoint. And he delivered the team another win and held the leader jersey in the team. Also Rafaâ showed his skills and took 3rd. In fact the whole team showed how fit they were at the end of the season.

STAGE 7
This short stage proved to be a hard one. The team had to work hard to pull everything back. The results was Juan and Daryl couldn't be dropped off in front and showed that they where beatable without the help of there teammates.
1st Henk Vogels TOYOTA - UNITED PRO CT 2h13'36"

No need to be disappointed we took 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th place in the GC. That combined with the 5 stage wins, the sprinters jersey, the KOM jersey, the u25 jersey and overall team classification we dominated this stage race. Time for vacation!!!

Back home an other surprise waited.
When I got a look at the continental rankings at the 10 of October during the Herald Sun Tour (after stage 3 where we got a 1,2 by Daryl and Juan) we had just passed Tinkoff to take 6th place
1st TEAM WIESENHOF FELT 2949
2nd CERAMICA PANARIA - NAVIGARE 2044
3rd BARLOWORLD 1795
4th ACQUA & SAPONE - CAFFÉ MOKAMBO 1759
5th RELAX - GAM 1690
6th TEAM KONICA MINOLTA 1550
7th TINKOFF CREDIT SYSTEMS 1549
8th AGRITUBEL 1461
9th CHOCOLADE JACQUES - TOPSPORT VLAANDEREN 1437
10th TEAM VORARLBERG - VOLKSBANK 1354
But with all points we collected during or final race we slipped past Relax, Acqua & Sapone and Barloworld in the final rankings to take the 3rd place in the continental standings. Unbelievable!
But it raised the question if it already is possible to promote to the protour next season?? And if so do we want to promote next season??
Well worries for later. Time for the season break.
1st TEAM WIESENHOF FELT 2949

Riders 2008
I told that we wanted to sign John-Lee Augustyn (Barloworld) and Erik Hoffmann (Team 3C-Gruppe Lamonta).
Team 3C-Gruppe Lamonta asked an acceptable transfer sum for Erik Hoffmann, so that deal was soon made.
Barloworld wasn't that willing to let Augustyn go and asked more than we could pay. Augustyn's contract ends at the end of this season, so we hope we can snatch him away from Barloworld at that time.
This are our new riders this season.
As you can see we have ten new young unexperienced riders. The idea let them ride in the .1 and .2 races and save our top riders for the HC races and hopefully 1 or 2 ProTour races.
These are the rest of our riders
As you can see they have gotten a lot better over the season. I want to highlight a few of them.
Chris Froome who is developing very fast and is becoming oiur best stage racer
Rafaa Chtioui who is already our best TTer and has made good progress.
Hassan Ben Nasser who is our best classic rider and is training hard on his hill riding skills.
Last off course our two top sprinters; Daryl Impey and Juan van Heerden. In one season they have grown into top continental sprinters.

Goals 2008
These are our goals for this season
As you can see our goals are in the first half of the season. We want to perform at our best for the first 6 months then just as last year take a break and then see if we want or can go for promotion to the ProTour.
The second reason is that by picking up points at the start of the season may earn us wildcards for some ProTour races.
Our first goals is the claim a top 10 place in the Amgen Tour of California 2.HC (18-25 February). Our idea is to test Chris Froome and see how he does against some difficult competition. And there will be, check out last years top 10;
1st Jens Voigt TEAM CSC 1h07'58"
2nd Sergio Paulinho DISCOVERY CHANNEL +04'07"
3rd Bram Tankink QUICKSTEP - INNERGETIC +05'16"
4th Fabian Cancellara TEAM CSC +05'25"
5th Kai Reus RABOBANK +05'40"
6th Kurt-Asle Arvesen TEAM CSC +05'56"
7th Vladimir Gusev DISCOVERY CHANNEL +06'01"
8th Janez Brajkovic DISCOVERY CHANNEL +06'29"
9th Tom Danielson DISCOVERY CHANNEL +06'41"
10th Johan Vansummeren PREDICTOR - LOTTO +06'59"
Second is a top 10 finish in the Trofeo Laigueglia 1.1 (20 February). Hassan Ben Nasser and Juan van Heerden are our two leaders for that race. Also not easy is you look at last years results.
1st Andrea Noè LIQUIGAS 4h30'43"
2nd Michael Boogerd RABOBANK +43"
3rd Bradley McGee FRANÇAISE DES JEUX +01'15"
4th Kanstantsin Siutsou BARLOWORLD s.t.
5th Mikhail Ignatiev TINKOFF CREDIT SYSTEMS +01'53"
6th Gerrit Glomser TEAM VORARLBERG - VOLKSBANK s.t.
7th Sandy Casar FRANÇAISE DES JEUX s.t.
8th Grischa Niermann RABOBANK s.t.
9th Evgeni Petrov TINKOFF CREDIT SYSTEMS s.t.
10th Ricardo Serrano TINKOFF CREDIT SYSTEMS +02'37"
After that we want
- Juan to try to take a top 5 finish in the Nokere-Koerse 1.1 (21 March).
- Hassan take a top 10 at the Tour du Finistere 1.1 (21 April)
- Abdelkader Belmokthar to wear the climber's jersey at the Vuelta Ciclista a Asturias 2.1 (3-7 May).
- Daryl Impey and Rafaa Chtioui to perform will at the Tour de Belgique 2.1 (30 May - 3 June).
- David George defend his titel at the Giro del Capo (6-11 March)

Those goals look achievable - particularly the Nokere Koerse one, its generally one of the easiest races in PCM to win

Apart from 4 riders my whole team is still younger then 25, so there is no hurry to immediately fill up their 3th experience bar, but non the less I'm going to try to get into a few ProTour races.
The goals aren't very hard indeed. I never raced Nokere Koerse before. I'm confident that I can fulfill the goal, but I doubt that it will be an easy win, because Juan is my best cobblestone rider and he has only 68 on cobbles.
Tonight I'll post my first race of 2008 (La Tropicale Ammisa Bongo) and then I'm finally ready to race again. I started making some screens after the 2nd or 3rd stage of that race.
I've just noticed this morning that today is the big day (PCM 08). It would love to try it out, but for now I'm going to stick with PCM 07 and with this story. That is mainly since I have a 5 or 6 year old PC. PCM 07 is already running on lowest settings (as you will be able to notice from screenshots) and I'm not going to buy a new PC before November.

La Tropicale Ammisa Bongo 2.2 (16-21 January)
Last year this race was one of our goals, but this year we wanted our new riders to gain some experience here.
Besides 5 new riders:
Dion Botha
Abderraman Nurani
Taufik Ben Ali
Antar Buadis
Mario Ganuchi
we also send:
Juan van Heerden,
because he made a very fit impression this early in the season. We send him to pick up some race fitness and see what he could do in the sprints.
Logically Juan is our team leader.
STAGE 1
The first stage was a short prologue, where we didn't do to bad.
1 Thomas Lövkvist FRANÇAISE DES JEUX 09'57
2 Dimitri Champion BOUYGUES TÉLÉCOM +05
3 Nick Nuyens FRANÇAISE DES JEUX +07
4 Zdenek Stybar TEAM 3C-GRUPPE LAMONTA +12
5 Sandy Casar FRANÇAISE DES JEUX +13
6 Maurizio Varini TEAM SPARKASSE s.t.
7 Tony Martin THÜRINGER ENERGIE TEAM s.t.
8 Matthias Hahn THÜRINGER ENERGIE TEAM +14

10 Patrick Gretsch THÜRINGER ENERGIE TEAM +16
12 Abderraman Nurani TEAM KONICA MINOLTA +17
20 Juan Van Heerden TEAM KONICA MINOLTA +23
STAGE 2
This is the only hilly stage. It didn't seem to difficult, but our riders had difficulty keeping up with the pack. Only Juan had no problem with the pace and was hoping that the pack would stay together and he would have a chance to sprint for the win.
But on one of the last small hills, prologue winner, Thomas Lövkvist attacked and only Jakob Fuglsang tried to follow. Juan hesitated, but decided to jump away and try to reach Lövkvist. He didn't succeed and didn't even reach Fuglsang. He did stay in front of the peleton and took 3rd place in stage and i the GC.
1 Thomas Lövkvist FRANÇAISE DES JEUX 3h45'50
2 Jakob Fuglsang TEAM DESIGNA KOKKEN +36
3 Juan Van Heerden TEAM KONICA MINOLTA +56
4 Ludovic Capelle TEAM SPARKASSE +01'29
5 Dimitri Fofonov CRÉDIT AGRICOLE s.t.
STAGE 3
Juan was only 14 seconds behind Jakob Fuglsang in the GC, so if he could manage some top 3 finishes in the next 4 flat stages he could move himself up to second place. No success this stage he only managed 5th place.
1 Alexandre Pichot BOUYGUES TÉLÉCOM 1h51'19
2 Konstantin Schubert TEAM SPARKASSE s.t.
3 Emanuele Rizza CONTINENTAL TEAM DIFFERDANGE s.t.

10 Zdenek Stybar TEAM 3C-GRUPPE LAMONTA +02'01"
POINTS
1 Juan Van Heerden TEAM KONICA MINOLTA 88 pt.
Conclusion
Our new riders still have a lot to learn. They did work their asses of for Juan, who performed better then expected. With 2nd place overall, the points jersey and 5 top 5 finishes he showed his class. It's a pity he couldn't get a stage win, but we're not complaining.
