I've put money on Kim Kirchen as winner this year. Know it's not going to happen, but if it does, I'll get a whole lot of money! :-D |

The smaller length of time trials this years makes the race slightly less open, but that is for the Tour de France thread, whenever it's opened...
Di Gregorio I think could be a surprise this year. But then again I'm always wrong.
So I'll just agree with whatever issoisso says

issoisso says you're wrong. what are you gonna do now?
I don't think climbers will be particularly benefited. sure, it's a hard Tour, but not the hardest. the first TT won't turn any significant differences, but you also have to consider the enormous amounts of time bonuses that Rasmussen and Contador got last year are no more. There are no time bonuses at stage finishes this year.
That, plus no prologue (everybody will start on the same time) plus a strange route for the first week will mean that the racing will be very nervous, and probably exciting.
expect the yellow jersey to switch shoulders a bunch of times in the first week and expect a lot of crashes (as I said, nervous racing) and some favorites abandoning because of it.
I would say "it's going to be a great Tour", but that's pretty much only a question of luck, not of the route, so who knows.

it's his goal for the season (the Tour). I'm not sure what Sammy can do, really. he has nowhere near the power for the Time Trials, but since he started getting advice from the great Igor Galdeano on how to ride a TT he's learned where to rest, where to push it, etc., which makes him dangerous on a more technical TT
look at last year's Vuelta: on a flat downhill TT that was all about power, he finished waaay down. on a technical TT he won it.

Gesink, Schleck and Dekker, very young and very clean riders, or at least I like to think so. If they're on le tour, with no injuries and on top form, along with the other big names, we're in for a great ride. |

Ok..Rogers have health problems also Evans.
Kirchen will be better then ever.
Valverde is very intresting name this year.
Forget Gesink..has mr. Rabobank Ruben says..he gonna ride Vuelta.
Danielson gonna give us another dissapoitment..
Soler is after climber jersey (he taking over Rasmussen job)
If Simoni is old..then Moreau looks even older.
Intresting faces..Cunego and A. Schleck

I think we can see Danny Pate winning a stage in the third week from a breakaway. I am looking forward to Danielson finally delivering on his potential. He might have it in him this year. Slipstream's approach to preparing might be better than Disco's when it comes to Tommy D. Cross your fingers

Tom Danielson
Nah, just kidding.
If I look at the participation list, I think there could be many many suprises possible, but it's impossible to predict which one of them actually does suprise us.
Which is a good thing, otherwise he wouldn't be a suprise, if we all expected him |

OK OK tough one here... Most people has already voted on riders who aren't surprises. Valverde, Popovych, Dekker are all World Class riders, who aren't surprising if they do well imo...
I think we will have something like this:
1. Alberto Contador
2. Cadel Evans
3. Carlos Sastre
4. Denis Menchov
5. Alejandro Valverde
Thus, none of those can surprise... Like a couple of other I could see Moreau as a revelation this year, though i'm believing in Markus Fothen!
Mountain jersey between:
John Gadret
Sylvain Chavanel
Fabian Wegmann
Damiano Cunego
Yaroslav Popovych
None of those would be a real revelation if that happened, thus my guess here is Tadej Valjavec!
Of the youngsters following riders should do well:
Thomas Dekker
Andy Schleck
Alberto Contador
Why none of these would be surprising I believe Marco Marzano could prove a point!
No claim, no game! |
