Well, Pajot was an interesting race. A sprint, but one that took some serious effort to get to. Hard racing caused splits over the hills and pave, but harder pushing from the teams kept most of the race together in the dying stages. Although late attacks did almost spoil the party.
Edmondson came through though to win for Wiggle ahead of Guarishi and surprise Sanguinetti in third.
Oh, also the Ronde will be live streamed at the weekend. And with English commentary.

So got a touch busy to preview RVV, but here's the summary.
Annoyingly the ultimately came down to a group sprint. But that hides the fact it was an exciting race, and that Longo Borghini, Niewiadoma, van der Breggen and van Vleuten were clear inside the final couple of kilometers. Although how 15 riders came to the finish together is not great compared the usual action racing of previous editions. I like the spreading of strength across various teams, but not if it means attacks become less worthwhile.
Rivera, unsurprisngly, was quickest in that group finish. Knew she was a good sprinter, but she's showing a strength no-one expected. Elvin and Blaak ran her decently close but never looked like taking the win. Biggest finishing group since 2009, for one of the "toughest" race you can see why it's slightly dissapointing.
Meanwhile over in the USA it was the Joe Martin Stage Race. Ruth Winder of UHC won the opening TT, Stage 2 and Stage 4 to dominate the race and win the GC. Stage 3 was taken by the unkown Lily Williams. Overall the race was controlled by UHC and Tibco, which isn't surprising as these are the two premier american outfits.
Couple of small races in the coming week, but nothing major for a bit.

So the Healthy Aging Tour snuck up on me, because this is the Energiewacht Tour under a new name Like previously, the whole race is being streamed at podium.tv so it can be watched live in pretty good quality.
Ellen van Dijk won the opening ITT very comfortably ahead of Anna van der Breggen and Lisa Brennauer.
Boels-Dolmans rode a great team race, and disrupted the peloton allowing Amy Pieters to win Stage 1b solo just ahead of the sprint. Guarischi and Lepisto lead in the pack.

#HAT17 (not a brilliant hashtag) continues. Stage 2 was a TTT which Boels-Dolmans smashed. But Cervelo, Sunweb and Canyon were separated by just 3" for 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Was brilliant to watch it unfold live at podium.tv!
Stage 3 has been won by Lisa Brennauer, after a rather late catch of the attackers. Lisa Klein a good 2nd place ahead of Ellen van Dijk. The Dutchwoman holds the GC lead with two stages to go, and she'lll be hard to shift and looking in great shape.
And again, all stages are live streamed at podium.tv!

The Healthy Aging Tour 2017 came to an end yesterday.
Chantal Blaak took a great win on stage 4 from a small break group that just held off a chasing peloton.
Emilie Moberg won the stage 5 sprint finish ahead of Lucinda Brand and Amalie Dideriksen. Great win for the Norwegian who has developed into a handy little rider capable of a good sprint and win.
But no-one could shift Ellen van Dijk from the GC lead, in the end she made it look comfortable. Second place for Anna van der Breggen and Third for Lisa Brennauer. Cracking race from Lisa Klein in 4th, you could count this as her breakout result, very talented youngster. Germany has some great riders coming up.
Next up, Amstel Gold next sunday. It's a WWT event, a brand new womens event and the first of an Ardennes Triple. Get hyped!

Right, let's get caught up on the Ardennes Triple!
Anna van der Breggen dominated the race winning by almost a minute over the chasers. She was in a class above. Boels made it a 1-2 with Deignan popping in her first real result of the year. Niewiadoma continues continues to not win this year with another podium finish. Good ride from Rivera to defend her WWT Lead, she's becoming a real danger to win it all. Good rides from PFP and Moolman as well, especially the South African who's returning from a sizable injury period.
Anna van der Breggen did it again in Fleche, back-to-back wins this week and she's in with a real shot at the Triple. Deignan again second, unable to match her teammate. Niewiadoma again on the Podium, how long can it be before she finally wins this year. Moolman again rode well and was attacking strong, she's back in form and must be targeting the podium at LBL. Good result for Ensing and Ale Cipollini and for Oliveira and Lares.

Over to the USA for special update on the Tour of the Gila.
Katie Hall, UHC, won the opening stage ahead of her teammate Ruth Winder, on a great day for UHC with Tayler Wiles in 4th. Sara Bergen filled up the podium for Rally Cycling.
Lex Albrecht, Tibco, won Stage 2 just edging out Tayler Wiles in a two-up sprint. But the time gap would gve Wiles the race lead! Scotti Lechuga, Hagens Berman, was just behind those two.
Great start to the race for UHC and Wiles, she's in the prime seat now but will face strong competition for the win from her own team in the upcoming ITT.

Indeed van der Breggen completes the Ardennes Triple at the first opportunity. She's been imperious this week, completely untouchable. With Deignan back up to speed this is the Boels we know back in form. Niewiadoma another podium. It has been a week of repetition in terms of results, but the racing has been varied between all events.
Back to sprints next for the WWT in China in a couple of weeks. Have Gracia Orlova, Festival Elsy Jacobs and Tour de Yorkshire between now and then. No shortage of action to keep y'all updated on.

Back to the USA for the wrap up of the Tour of the Gila.
Leah Thomas, Sho, won the ITT ahead of Wiles who extended her GC lead. Good ride from Julie Emmerman for 3rd on the ITT.
Emma White, Rally, won the Stage 4 sprint finish ahead of Lauren Stephens and Lizzie Williams. Wiles easily in the front group to defend her GC lead with one day to go.
Kaite Hall headed a UHC 1-2-3 over Wiles and Ruth Winder. And thus Tayler Wiles wins the Tour of the Gila. F*ck yeah!

Lots to get through here. First up, todays Tour of Yorkshire. Amazing race and it was 100% live from start to finish. Awesome coverage from ITV and ASO, proving that it can be done. Home favorite Lizzie Deignan took the solo win, with the initial attack coming with over 60km to race, as van der Breggen and her tore up the Lofthouse. They bridged across to an earlier move of about 6, before attacking on again and taking Dani King with them.
Deignan finally went solo with something like 12km to go (cant remember exactly) and never looked back. Rivera won the sprint behind for 2nd ahead of Bronzini who was stellar today. Really i'd ignore the time gap between 5th and 6th, it was one group that only split in the final 100m of the sprint.
Amazing race with action right from KM0 and we only knew the result in the final few KM's of the attack. Just excellent.
Festival Elsy Jacobs began yesterday, and it's another race with full coverage livstreamed online.
Moolman edged the opening prologue ahead of teammate Klein, and Majerus 3rd. Two road stages will play a big role over the weekend and change up the GC.
Then there's the Gracia Orlova. This began back on Thursday with Markus leading a WM3 1-2-3 on the opening stage. Koster took Stage 2 for WM3. Markus took a second win in a WM3 1-2 in the Stage 3 ITT. Two stages still to go, but WM3 look incredibly dominant and expect them to take the win and at least one of the stage wins.

Not quite getting every race posted here, i'm not superman. But here's some more
WWT rolled into China for the Tour of Chongming Island. 3 day sprinters event that is actually quite good (i.e. it's not like Beijing, it's actually well organised etc).
Wild back ontop of sprinting, edging out Hosking who continues a cracking season with second, a slightly surprise Roy in thrid. Overall the Top10 isn't your usual, partly because whilst a WWT event Chongming still doesn't get the best of startlists.
Meanwhile, it's the Panamaerican Championships. Coming all the way from the Dominican Republic we had the ITT today.
Chloe Dygert continues to assert herself as one of the biggest talents in the sport with a very good and solid victory. Compatriot, and all-round superstar, Tayler Wiles was 2nd. Marlies Mejias was 3rd for Cuba.
Mejias is most notable recently for her Panamaerican RR win in 2015

Let's wrap-up Chongming Island.
Stage 2 went to D'Hoore ahead of Wild and Stricker. Ale Cipollini not capitalising on their strong squad only in 4th for Hosking.
Stage 3 again wen to D'Hoore, allowing her to defend the GC Lead and win. Wild again 2nd and Hosking 3rd.
Very fluid Top10's over the race in a fairly open field behind the Top4 riders.
And in the Panamerican RR, victory went to Munoz of Chile ahead of Brazilian Do Santos and 18yo Schneider 3rd. Schneider is a real potential star (both Schneider's are), hugely talented but has had some team issues this year.

Time for one of the longest named races of the year, the AMGEN Breakaway from Heart Disease Women's Race empowered with SRAM. Or for most people, the Womens AToC
Megan Guarnier began her race strongly for Boels with a win ahead of teammate van der Breggen on Stage 1. Sierra continues to impress for Astana with 3rd. Lots of time gaps the give the GC an early shape around Tahoe
But Katie Hall stormed Stage 2 for UHC well ahead of van der Breggen and Doebel-Hickok. Guarnier and Sierra were 5th and 6th.
This gave Hall a slender 3" lead over van der Breggen, and 29" back to Guarnier. Doebel and Winder keeping up the US end in 4th and 5th. Two good days for Wiles have her in 11th.
With two days to go and only a small gap the race isn't exactly settled. But the remaining days are flat sprints that don't look like they'll make gaps. However time bonuses, crashes and wind could still mix it up in the WWT race.

Rivera got her expected Californai win in the Stage 3 sprint. Ahead of the super impressive Sierra, who's really showing more an more skills as the season progresses. Bronzini 3rd for Wiggle.
Bonus seconds move Sierra up to 4th, but van der Breggen got herself some and is just 1" behind Hall for the Win with one stage left.... It will be an exciting final day.
And Wiles is in 12th.

Giorgia Bronzini pulled off a fantastic finish to win Stage 4 over Rivera, with Wild 3rd. Not a great race for Kirsten. But the focus was on the GC battle...
Anna van der Breggen broke American hearts as she claimed the bonus time to overtake Katie Hall and win the Tour of California by 1"! Guarnier made it even worse for the Americans having a nightmare day to fall from 3rd down to 33rd. This promotes Sierra up to the Podium, another great race for the Cuban who's quickly becoming a real contender.
Tayler defended 12th having sat almost the whole day on the front working for Hall.

Spain time! The very challenging Durango-Durango was up first. Hilly one-day race with a nasty double-climb at the back end.
Van Vleuten rode away to claim a solo victory ahead of Gillow who was clear of Merino. Merino being a yound (22yo) Spanish rider who's showing signs of climbing skill, but still has more to prove to be considered a real talent in my eyes. Garfoot and Spratt made 3 Aussies in the Top5.
Then we move onto the 5-Stage Emakumeen XXX. Bira. Bastianelli won the opening sprint stage ahead of Archibald and Elvin.
Stage 2 should be another sprint. Stage 3 has nast kick late on that could mix it up. Stage 4 is a short but sharp climbing day to mix up the GC. Stage 5 has a big climb from which to launch moves onto a flat finish.
