I was thinking about upping the rating but do note that sprinting is by far my best quality(maybe next to cobbled classics) and the sprinting field here is terrible, whereas there are climbers such as Gilberto Simoni.
Also Doi is in good form as he tries to earn a place for Paris-Nice
Reports coming soon

It's 5:am and I just can't sleep. I'm so excited but I'm so nervous. Thoughts are flying through my head; every single possibility is whirring at bullet-speed through my mind.
What if I win? Does that mean more responsibility, more work, more pressure?
and what if I lose? Will I be confined to a years worth of small criteriums and tiny races with weak fields? Will I lose my job?
Gotta stop thinking, gotta get some sleep.
sleep................. |

Langkawi Stage 7
The tour's queen stage. All or bust here. I've done all I can in preparation, I've taken as many bonus seconds as I can.
Looking up and down the profile, actually no down to speak of, it's pretty daunting. That final climb looks very tough.
All uphill from here
I have some tactics up my sleeve but I'll have to see how the race unfolds. This ain't gonna be easy with a final climb of 68km! |

Mathieu Sprick is out front today, looking to catch the climbers teams off guard. He has built up a good lead but I think he will lose it on the climb and the squad won't be committing anyone to the chase.
Waggy is third rider out on the road, looking to boost his green jersey lead. He will probably take third in two intermediate sprints.
I'm given position as 8th favourite for the stage which I'm quite pleased with. But it does mean I will be watched closely throughout the stage.

Sprick just got brought in. I'm feeling comfortable and the team are working hard for me.
Whoa! Halgands just stormed off the front.
I think Xavi Florencio is trying to follow.
I'm gonna sit tight in the pack until the bigger names come out of hiding.

There is a mass exodus from the pack. All the guys apart from the big favourites are going and they are really stretching the bunch out.
I think I've got a chance if I go with this lot.
Yeah, I'm gonna go, the legs are good.
This is it.
Here I come, ready or not!
Aaaah! This is hard on the legs. Come on, just a little bit more..........
...YES!!!

I've just reached the third group on the road and we're relaying well together. Clement followed my attack so he could help me in this group. There are three others here and I feel I'm the strongest.
Clement is putting some hard relays in on the front to try and pull back the two lone riders ahead of us, while giving me a bit of a chance to clear the lactic acid from legs.
I want to claim some time back on the two in front and keep a good GC position. But Clement says he is tiring and the others aren't working weel.
I may have to do this alone. |

I have to do this alone; Clement has fallen off the back.
I've jumped them. There's no reaction. This is it.
I'm away.
Now drive it. Come on. Feel the burn. No pain, no gain.
One last drive for glory.
I'm all alone now.
One last big drive!

I'm gonna start the sprint for the top. There is someone on my wheel but I'm feeling powerful enough to do this.
Maybe I can catch Florencio.
Time to go.
How do they expect you to sprint at the top of a mountain?!!? |

I can hear the cheers. That means Halgands won.
But I can still close down the time gap.
Come on legs, don't fail me now.
Final 100 metres. Will I catch Florencio?
50.....
40......
30.......
20........
10.........
..............And no!
I just miss out on 2nd but somehow the timkeeper says there is a gap!
Bit pissed off but proud of my result. I finished ahead of Gilberto Simoni!
I slump over the line, shattered in 3rd.
I see the confirmation of the result in the big smiling face of Halgand.

If I manage 3rd tommorow I will move into second on GC. As long as Florencio finishes behind me.

Langkawi Final Stage
A day where I will look for bonus seconds to move into second on GC.
The early break went as usual but I could see the pack had them under control.
And I was proved right as with 20k to go they were pulled back in.
The CSF team were really winding it up and all our riders were preparing for the sprinter, looking to steal back the green jersey Waggy had lost yesterday by one point.
But, alas, the green jersey wouldn't end up on the devastated set of shoulders that belonged to Robert Wagner as a mass pileup occured at the massing front of the peloton.
However, I soon realised Florencio had gone down and now I was in second place on the road.
Clement tried to lead me out but he wasn't his superhuman self today and could not get me into a strong position as my team-mate, Shinawaga, latched onto the best lead-out train.
And my sprint was also going to pot as I couldn't even come round Clement.
But I rediscovered my sprint with 1k to go and passed 7 people to reach the leaders. But it was not enough as I finished second.
However, I was elated when I heard the news over the race radio that I hads taken second position overall as well as the young riders jersey. I was a new-found hero to the crowds and I am enjoying my 'superstar' status.
The stage ended like this:
