voitg, no way! Dekker is the last one but he lacks the explosivity for this short couse. I think cav will hold it.

I didn't watch it but for Cav to beat the likes of Dekker and Kloden is great. I mean he's always been decent in the time-trials but this is a great achievement

its no suprize a sprinter takes first and second place here, it's only 2km with one hairpin... all about explosivity and top speed. |

Larsson only in as 15th.
Menchov is coming in now, but not really in any good time. Albasini has been riding well, it seems.
He doesn't like prologues much, so no surprise.....and he has still probably not recovered from his crash in Fleche, or I'm just making excuses |

the last time there was a prologue this short was the 2005 giro. Petacchi lost it by a very small fraction of a second.
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

yup, one of the most heralded talents in track pursuit won
Here's everyone that finished within 2 seconds.
Other than Krauss and Savoldelli (who every coach agrees could make a dominant pursuit rider if he had any interest in the track), it's all sprinters and track riders.
1 Brett Lancaster (Aus) Ceramica Panaria-Navigare 1.20.958 (51.75 km/h)
2 Matteo Tosatto (Ita) Fassa Bortolo 0.01
3 Alessandro Petacchi (Ita) Fassa Bortolo
4 Paolo Savoldelli (Ita) Discovery Channel-Pro Cycling Team
5 Olaf Pollack (Ger) T-Mobile Team 0.02
6 Stuart O'Grady (Aus) Cofidis-Le Credit Par Telephone
7 Jaan Kirsipuu (Est) Credit Agricole
8 Mark Renshaw (Aus) Francaise Des Jeux
9 Sergio Escobar Roure (Spa) Illes Balears
10 Sven Krauss (Ger) Gerolsteiner
11 Bradley Wiggins (GBr) Credit Agricole

It isn't all about sprinting, you can't sprint for 2km straight, aero-dynamics and pacing still play a part
The example above is a great example, Petacchi is a superb sprinter and Lancaster isn't but Lancaster won.

Bjorn Schröder, the excellent tt-er. Man, these guys are nowhere in tt's longer then, let's say 6km
A prologue of such short length is a different discipline then a time trial. |
