Kirsten Wild took a clear win in the Stage 4 Crit. Brennauer second and Vos third. So no real surprises there.
Megan Guarnier holds the GC to win. Armstrong remained second, and Stevens rounds out the USA 1-2-3. Rivera 4th, Thomas 6th, Dygert 7th, Hall 8th and Stephens 10th made it a great race for the locals.
Mara Abbott won the QoM. Dygert the Youth. Twenty16 the Team. Guanier the Points. So that's a USA clean sweep!
Great 4 days of racing with good action and some real surprises. Can't wait for next years race.
There's really good highlights on YouTube from the UCI and from AToC themselves, worth finding.

Also today Lotta Lepisto out sprinted Fournier and Roy to win the Swiss Ever GP Cham-Hagendorn.
Look out for the Boels Rentals Hill Classic later in the week, and Morbihan-Plumelec double.

Busy day!
Firstly the USA ITT NC's from Roaring River. Carmen Small claimed the jersey ahead of Amber Neben. Pre-race favorite Kristin Armstrong was a distant 3rd.
Evelyn Stevens was only 6th, and Tayler Wiles 7th. Chloe Dygert continues to show she's an incredible talent with 8th.
La Classique Morbihan was won by Majerus, in a surprisingly strong ride on a hilly parcours. Elise Delzenne was 2nd, by far her best result since moving to Lotto. Rivat was 3rd.
The main event of the day, though, was the Boels Rental Hills Classic. Lizzie Armitstead back on top spot, the Rainbow seems to have given her stronger legs than ever! Van Vleuten was second and Moolman 3rd. Vos and Van Djik 4th and 5th way ahead of the rest of the field. An insane number of DNF's as the elite really put on a show of power.

More racing today.
Grand Prix de Plumelec-Morbihan Dames was won by Rachel Neylan, with Majerus and Delzenne just behind.
Horizon Park Women Challenge was won by Ribachenko. Semionova 2nd and Solovey 3rd.
The big event was the USA NC RR. Megan Guarnier took victory ahead of Coryn Rivera and Mandy Heintz. The entire race was livestreamed and it was excellent with a range of attacks from motivated riders.

Just excuse me for a few minutes whilst i fanboy over the Aviva Womens Tour...
Alison Tetrick :'( :'( :'( That was brutally cruel after such a brilliant ride :'( 8th was so much less than she deserved. Norwich is one of my fav places and i know that finishing street well and that ramp was always going to kill her from a solo like that, painful knowing it was coming.
The TV director's are either genius are idiots, can't quite tell. Giving no info on the Chase gap at all inside the final 1-1.5km certainly meant it was tense, but also it must have been clear the peloton were coming. So some camera shots of them whould have been great to see how the chase disintegrated in the final turns to split into so many groups.
I also can't believe they didn't get the bikes and cars out of the gap between Tetrck and the peloton! It was staggering and they came within meters of a major disaster. It almost cost Majerus the race as she was investigated for blocking on Vos purely because she had to move to go around the vehicles. That finish was so tight and twisty they needed to move the team car and bikes out of the gap at the 1km mark regardless of the gap. You could see them trying to get around but physically couldn't do so without impacting Tetrick heavily. It was a right f*ck up and they organisers got lucky we didn't have yet another moto related incident.
Majerus dealt with it incredibly, she took the final two turns at insane speed! Absolutely nailed. You could tell she'd ridden or seen it before (or has balls of steel) because she worked it to perfection and left no chance for anyone to beat her. Boels Dolmans are putting not just other womens teams to shame, but a lot of mens teams can learn from them!
Tayler Wiles <3 <3 <3 She is in good form. Good riding for the QoM, got screwed at the second QoM because it wasn't a climb and she is not a good sprinter. I hope she goes for the climbs again to really target the QoM jersey.
Fantastic opening stage. Couple of organisation issues, like with the cars/motos in the way. But also that finish was too tight and twisty for such a flat stage, i'm surprised there weren't crashes! Also don't have a QoM on a climb with a litteral 0% average, 7m rise over 2km is not a climb. Just don't have two QoM points on such a flat stage, or put it somewhere with a 1% gradient.
God i'm pissed i can't go and visit... I'd love nothing more that to go watch, and then try and grab some autographs or pictures with riders... Tayler best be back for the RideLondon GP!

Managed to catch up with the ITV highlights from Stage 1 earlier.
Totally agree on the second QoM sprint being a bit of a joke. Looking at the profile there are a few places that would have made more sense to assign the classification to if they were insistent on having 2, and it's very poor planning to have gone with the 0% average section. The first one wasn't too bad comparatively, which kind of makes the second even more of a fail.
I am also knowledgeable about Norwich - lived there for 5 years until I recently moved away - and I disagree with you in that I actually quite liked the route they picked for the finish. It had a nice mix of technical riding, a challenging gradient and a finish right in the city centre.
However, I can understand your frustration as it wasn't suited for a straight sprint stage (although that's not necessarily a bad thing). From what the presenters said at the end of the broadcast the information in the road book didn't accurately show the finish, notably the slight incline through the last section being missing. It does lead me to wonder if things would have been different had the teams had a correct report on that finishing kilometre.
No excuse for the vehicles though. That's pure bad management by the organisers.
All-in-all a great watch though. Active racing throughout as teams fought for every classification point, and a tense finish with that last-moments catch. I'm looking forward to seeing more highlights of the race over the next few days. |

Van Vleuten wins the first race she entered after that horrible crash in Rio.

Thought i'd give a quick glance over the current noteworthy transfers:
Lucinda Brand - Rabo > Liv
Good pick up for Liv, very talented Classics style rider. Can be both a leader or team-mate in equal measure.
Thalita De Jong - Rabo > Lares
Great pick up for Lares! Thalita is still developing and is showing she could be a real Stage Race contender, and is already a pretty handy on with a good time trial.
Roxanne Knetemann - Rabo > Poitou-Charantes
Lovely pick-up for the French team. She's still a cracking TT'er and excellent breakaway Rouler.
Anna van der Breggen - Rabo > Boels
Just incase Boels wasn't beast enough... Olympic Champion and all round killer. Probably the best rider of the season who wasn't a Boels rider is now a Boels rider...
Ellen van Dijk - Boels > Liv
Former World ITT Champion and still a flat road monster. Liv picking up a really excellent rider who'll fit them and ther style perfectly.
Obviously a sizable exodus from Rabobank as that team sort of folds and sort of changes to what is known as "Team Marianne Vos". It needed to slim down but they will still be good. Liv taking some big steps forwards as a result picking up a few riders, they'll be a good challenge to Boels and Vos now.
Also some good rumors at the moment:
Ferrand-Prevot to WiggleHigh5
Gillow to Poitou
Demi de Jong to Liv

Van Djik, unsurprisingly, took the European ITT title. She'll be huge odds on favorite in Doha. Great ride from Zabelinskaya in 3rd, didn't think she'd be that fast. Not much else to say on this, it isn't a great event...
Not much to say about Morzenti. Decent young rider but hasn't shown masses. She's improved over last year so perhaps she's got some legs to get good. Even less to say about Vigilia, except she beat Morzenti at the Italian Nationals. Now Labous is a talent! She's got a range of Junior wins and some good results in French Pro races as well. Keep an eye on her as she moves to Liv-Plantur for 2017.
Lippert is another one to watch. She's ridden a few Pro races this year and has done well in them. Also going to Liv in 2017 she's another rider to watch develop. Balsamo is a good road racer, some good versatility. Wright i know almost nothing about, even though she's British. lol.

The Road Race felt very much like a WWT race it was so packed with quality. Van der Breggen went one better than in the tt to claim victory, and establish herself as a real outsider for Worlds glory. Niewiadoma continues to show progression and it's only a matter of time before she really breaks out to the forefront of climbing in the sport, also she counts as U23 champion. Longo Borghini a solid Bronze, but is probably dissapointed to not get higher on the podium.
Impressive ride for Cecilie Ludwig in 9th, she's lined up to make a big moveto Cervelo-Bigla for 2017 and i'm sure she'll bag some results with them.

World's just around the corner, can't wait! Every event pretty much as wide open as ever before, it'll be great viewing.
But first, here's some transfer news
Tayler Wiles - Orica > UHC
Quite possibly the biggest news of the year. Tayler heading back Stateside, albeit still at a team very close to the top level. She will be stellar at domestic races i'm sure, and of great use when UHC heads abroad to top events. Good signing for them. Go get 'em Tayler!!!
Coryn Rivera - UHC > Liv Plantur
Good move. Coryn has been regularly at the top, or towards it, and this is a step upwards. Probably not exactly a leader at Liv, but will get her chances. I really like this move for both rider and team.
Romy Kasper - Boels > Ale Cipo
Good signing for the Italians. Adds a good string to their bow as they look to expand. It's nice to see a top level Italian team thriving, showing the men up.
Pauline Ferrand-Prevot - Rabo > Canyon
This one went against all the rumors! But boy what a signing for Canyon. There's no downside here atall. Huge deal guaranteed to bring results to both parties.
Valentina Scandolara - Canyon > Fortitude
Love this move, Valentina one of the most underrated riders around. Good sprint, regular attacker, backs it up with a punchy climbing style. Fortitude picking up both a good team-mate and attacking fighter.
Kirsten Wild - Hitec > Cylance
One of the top sprinters will always be a good buy. Kirsten isn't quite as dominating but is still certain to bring you wins. And Cylance could have just bought in the WC, good move.
Lots of big names moving teams this year. We don't quite have the full picture just yet, but 2017 will be very interesting and competitive.
