All notable riders' results can be found on the front page. Here's just an overview of Jayco'z best finishers (and other notable achievements) in the first 12 events of our season. The first rankings update saw us in the upper mid table, but it's a close ranking obviously. Our latest results went from disappointing (Morton, Durbridge) over so-and-so (Burghardt and Goss) to good (Bobridge).

Bobridge taking out stage two in T-A!
Bobridge leading the front group in Pais Vasco's fourth stage..
It's all about Jayco'z fight against relegation, as our key riders missed out on a few key points in their target races. Burghardt scored in most of his races, but failed to achieve something big on the cobbles. Bobridge couldn't repeat his strong showing from Pais Vasco earlier this season and had to settle for some solid but also disappointing results (like in the Deutschland Tour). Goss had a rather good couple of months, scoring his first win in 2016 with a stage win in Germany and a strong showing in the Lisbon Classic.. an unlucky Morton, who crashed two times at the Vuelta a Espana, finally landed some well needed points in Liechtenstein.
But still, we're in need of key points. Our most recent results give Oz some hope to survive the ProTour this year. It may come down to our performance in the Tour of Tasmania. We once saved our season in another home race: the Herald Sun Tour 2013, where our team delivered big time to rescue Oz Cycling from relegation to Continental level.. let's do it again!

Congrats for avoiding relegation. Bobridge finished the season in style with a strong home race. Glad to see you back in PT with your TTT monster
Wasn't the season I expected to see from jayc'OZ. After a strong first season followed a very quite season. I look forward to see whether you plan to change some things up with Burghardt slowly declining and Goss underachieving / nonachieving for most of the last two seasons.
Thanks, knockout! Definitely the season didn't go as planned. We had some poor performances and also (as many other teams) some bad luck with crashes in key races.. already looking forward to next year. I'm as thrilled as you whether we will change our plan or not
Late season run saves Oz: Bobridge runner-up in Tasmania
Thanks to Jack Bobridge's second consecutive GC podium in the Tour of Tasmania (after his 3rd place last year), Jayco'z Cycling Project will stay in the ProTour after finishing 14th in the final rankings eventually. Bobridge added a stage-win in our home race and missed the GC win to Jerome Coppel by just a second. The race was expected to be our key race for the fight against relegation and Bobridge (as well as a few solid stage results by Goss, Durbridge and Dennis) delivered big time.
While he missed out on a special result in the final race - Giro di Lombardia - our captain's performance in Tassie was fine enough to secure our spot in the ProTour for another - our third - season. A huge feeling to deliver such a result just ahead of our fans. No question: the Tour of Tasmania is our most favorite race on the calendar. Thanks to all folks for the outstanding support at the tracks.

The final rankings of the teams. Jayco'z had a thrilling season and our late run of good results made us jump from the relegation zone to a somewhat solid 14th eventually. After finishing 11th in our ProTour debut last year, we certainly had hoped for a better season though. May our guys avoid a relegation fight next year:

So we missed all of our goals. At least we came close to a Top-3 at Pais Vasco and Morton obviously missed his goal to Top-10 the Vuelta due to his two crashes earlier in the race. It ain't all black, even though we certainly had hoped for a better outcome of our goals. Burghardt just podium'd one cobbled classic, but avoided non-showings (or crashes) like he did one year before. Still, we surely ain't happy with missing those goals. Of course avoiding relegation was more important in the end though.
Lachlan Morton had some tough times in Spain: no GC-hopes with two crashes..
Jack Bobridge came close to podium Pais Vasco, finishing 4th eventually..
Hopefully a subpar season, in terms of goals, won't hurt your economy too hard going into next season. You were pretty close to fulfilling a couple of them

Joining Oz Cycling as the team's biggest signing in 2015, Burghardt (inking a 590,000€ deal) became our key rider to help the team surviving it's first ProTour season. With also Lachlan Morton and Domenico Pozzovivo joining the squad, Burghardt did not have to carry the whole pressure to upgrade a team, that came off a stellar PCT campaign with Jack Bobridge and 2014 world champion Matthew Goss as the biggest stars.
While he did not really lift his point scoring to another level in 2016, Burghardt at least scored four Top-5 finishes on the cobbles. Again only one podium (3rd at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad) though. His 5th at RvV and 7th at P-R were solid, but still far from being special. A nice outing in the Tour of Northern Europe (7th in the final GC) made him score 71 points more than he had in 2015. Burghardt himself had hoped for a few more podiums, as he's still rated as one of the world's best cobblers. Turning 34 years next season, it remains uncertain, whether he will have another shot against Bewley or Van Avermaet in 2017.. while Jayco'z enjoyed the time we had on the pavement, the next off-season will surely be another question mark for Burghardt's future on the team.

Lachlan Morton was Oz Cycling's first huge transfer after promoting to ProTour. Early in the transfer season from 2015, the management agreed to terms with the African squad Eritel to sign Australia's biggest stage racer talent for a deal worth 2,200,000€ (additionally taking three loanees on bord). With also Marcus Burghardt and Domenico Pozzovivo joining Oz that year, we managed to build a strong core of key riders to eventually finish our ProTour debut as 11th best team.
Morton, not yet fully developed, struggled to hit the Top-15 in most of his races: 15-16-17-17 were his best GC results in his first season with Australia's premium cycling team. His 15th place in the Tour de France as the best of his GC outings.. while he yet had to show anything special for Oz Cycling, this process had have to be expected. He concluded a very good year for the team with the biggest results of his career then: his overall win of the Tour de l'Avenir, as well as his runner-up in the U23 world championships obviously made for a pleasant view of his personal achievements in 2015.
The 2016 campaign came with higher expectations and pressure then. As our premium stage racer (with Pozzovivo leaving the team), Morton was our only real GC-threat for stage races. While he did boost his individual scoring from 400pts to 586pts, Morton couldn't really deliver on a regular base. He helped to save Oz from relegation with an important 4th place in a tough GP Liechtenstein though. His 5th place in the Tour de Suisse, as well as a solid 11th place in the Vuelta a Colombia added some key points.
Morton's most important race though, the Vuelta a Espana, went horribly wrong. Two crashes earlier in the race destroyed his chances to fight for the expected Top-10 result. He tried to go for stage results in the third week, but couldn't land a notable finish. His 21st place in the final GC was definitely one reason for Oz Cycling to find itself in the battle against relegation. It's time for a big ProTour result for Morton in Jayco'z Cycling Project's colors. Will 2017 be the year of his first notable Grand Tour finish?
Top write ups there mate, the whole team really rode well in the last 1/5 of the season from Lisbon onwards if you can keep that going to start next season I'm sure you will raise up the table a lot more
@jt: Thanks, mate. Well, obviously I'm hoping for my riders to continue their performances from the last few races of the season Of course there will be some off-season changes as well. I don't wanna fight against relegation for another year!

When the Oz Cycling Project was launched in 2012, there were only a few things that made the cycling world think positive about our chances to be competitive. Jack Bobridge, though quite expensive (wage back then: 360,000€), was one of those. With him and Luke Durbridge (who was loaned out to Red Bull straight away), we build our core of key riders for the upcoming years.
Bobridge did quite well for his age already in our debut season: while the team finished as dead last in the Continental Division (no relegation that year), "Bobo" brought home some notable results. His win at the Nedbank Classic from a 90km solo effort, as well as his several Young Rider shirts (including a 4th place at the Herald Sun Tour) made for a promising first season with our team.
Joining Durbridge as a loanee for Simply Red Bull in 2013, Bobridge had an important year in the ProTour then. A great experience and again some solid results. Another great performance on home soil, Bobridge delivered a 13th place in the GC of the Tour of Tasmania. An early sign of what to come a few years later..
Jack then had his breakthrough year in 2014: a stunning season for Oz Cycling and Bobridge himself. Finishing as 4th in the individual's rankings at the end of the season, Bobridge enjoyed a year full of success, including wins at the Tour of Czech Republic and the Manx International classic. Four more podiums in PCT events and also a notable stage-win in one of his ProTour stints (Tour of California) would follow. There's no question, who played the biggest part in Oz's way to ProTour.
In 2015, our ProTour debut season, Bobridge obviously would remain as our key rider. The Tour of Tasmania would mark a late season highlight, where Bobridge went to finish 3rd in the GC. His first ProTour podium finish. He also did very well in the Ardennes classics, including two Top-10 finishes. Yet another season, in which Bobo did his best to help Oz Cycling finish above/par expectations, avoiding relegation fears quite comfortably.
Our second ProTour campaign didn't go as planned then, but Bobridge would eventually prevent Oz from going down to PCT. His second consecutive podium in the Tour of Tasmania (2nd overall, plus a stage-win) would make for his best ProTour performance ever. He also delivered in the Vuelta a Pais Vasco (4th) and added a few more good finishes with Top-10 results. While he narrowly missed out on winning shirts, Bobridge once again managed to build up his good looking palmares for Oz Cycling and collected more than 1000pts in the individual's rankings. Who would expect him to change colors next year?

When Matthew Goss joined Oz Cycling in 2014, he came off a ProTour title-campaign with Wikipedia. The Oz paid 1,800,000€ and sent Luke Durbridge/Wen Hao Li on loan to Wikipedia, receiving a world class sprinter, who finished inside the individual's Top-60 in ProTour the year before. Surely a huge deal for Oz, as we came off a relegation battle in the PCT.
Goss wouldn't exactly crush the competition on this new level for him, but he still delivered a good season for our team: winning the Zimnyanya GP, finishing 3rd overall at the Eneco Tour and sprinting to four stage-wins and sixteen more Top-5 finishes on stages across the year, Goss performed well inside the individual's Top-30 in the final rankings. Together with Jack Bobridge and Michael Rogers, Gossy built a strong trio for Oz Cycling's promotion campaign.
And of course let's not forget the biggest highlight at the end of the season: Goss would outsprint the world's best fast men to take the World Championship's road race! A huge ending to a huge season for Oz. The rainbow stripes would make for a great look in our ProTour debut.
Goss, however, couldn't repeat his strong performances from 2014. An unlucky Giro d'Italia (we had a stage-win goal here) saw him finishing on the podium a few times, but narrowly missing out on a stage. Goss couldn't sprint for line honours in any of his races, but at least did well as 5th in the Lisbon Classic. Not exactly a pleasant year for the reigning world champion, but still: his 394pts helped Oz to stay up comfortably.
Things went pretty similar in 2016 then. A few Top-5 finishes in a Grand Tour (TdF), an again strong result in Lisbon (4th this time, key points for Oz's survival) and a solid 10th place in the SAA Tour d'Afrique. Goss almost performed on level with his showings from 2015, but finally took a stage-win after one year without line honours: his stage-win in the Deutschland Tour became his fifth for Oz Cycling in his three years with the team. With Lahcen Saber showing promises to become a classy sprinter, Gossy's future on the team remains as uncertain as it already did last off-season though.
The world championships in Krakow couldn't have started with better news for Jayco'z: the opening event saw our upcoming sprinter Lahcen Saber winning the B-Worlds title thanks to a gutsy move about 10km to the finish. Entering the race as one of the top-favorites, Saber fortunately had both the legs and the tactics to match the role he had. It's the third gold medal for Oz after Goss (2014, Elite RR) and Haig (2015, U23 TT) took the primes in the previous two years.
Saber always looked in control in yesterday's tough cobbled event in and around Krakow. An interesting race made for some selection in the peloton and Saber launched the winning move out of a leading group with 10km remaining. A powerful and risky move, as most people would have expected Saber to wait for a sprint decision. But our man delivered big time and managed to held off a solo-chasing Marc Potts by ten seconds eventually.
WC 2017 in Krakow: Burghardt finishes 3rd for bronze
After alread claiming two medals (Lahcen Saber as 1st in the B-Race and Jack Haig as 2nd in the U23 timetrial), our veteran Marcus Burghardt addded our third individual medal at the world championships in Krakow.
An unbeatable Bewley took the primes ahead of Florian Senechal, while Burghardt eventually had to settle for a 3rd place in a three-men sprint. The German showed a good race overall, finding himself in a thrilling final section of the race. Dropping most of the other top-favorites, a trio managed to went clear and fought for gold until the finish.

Except of the NCs, that race concluded our season. Stay tuned for a couple of news regarding the currently held NCs and other stuff. An overview of our wins, podiums and shirt(s) in the 2017 season:
Most of our talents spent their seasons with Jayco'z last year: reaching their full potential now, we surely should expect some guys to be ready to take a next step in their role for the team. Of course there's two of our key signings in the past few seasons: Jack Haig (picture above), turning 24 years old next season, will be one of our most interesting young riders in 2017. Since joining Oz in 2014, Haig (who finished 7th in the Tour of Ukraine this season, adding a silver medal from the WC U23 timetrial) has been a manager's favorite and probably will get to ride a Grand Tour as our main man next year - or maybe two, depending on our transfer activities.
Lahcen Saber joined Oz as our most expensive rider last year. Probably no PT-winning material yet, Saber will still be our most exciting fully developed rider in 2017: his sprint in addition to his skills on cobbles is truly unique in our roster. While his skill-set may be a perfect PCT combination, Saber may be able to put some pressure on our main sprinter Goss next season and stay with Jaycpo'z for another year. Of course his triumph in the B-Race of the WC in Krakow made this more likely to happen.
We also look forward to guys like James Oram, Alex Wohler and Fiji national champion Jacob Salcone reaching their full potential. They all should be expected to stay as members on our team. Brendan Canty will also need some more ProTour experience next year and obviously he will spend the year with Oz, too. Same may happen for Dion Smith (picture below), who spent the last season with In-n-Out Cycling in the PCT. Our biggest unmaxed talent surely has a key year ahead.

Another stand-out HQ with regular content in the off-season (puts me to shame). Write-ups are excellent as always. Your rider development cohort progressing into 2017 looks very strong, providing real solid support to your leaders with good potential to grab a decent points haul in their own right. Will follow with interest how you develop the roster through the off-season in order to ensure a less heart-attack inducing season in terms of flirting with relegation. Jayco'z should be able to establish themselves as a long-term PT team looking towards the top half of the table, rather than fearing the bottom half year on year.
Thanks for the kind words, Scorchio. Always appreciate positive feedback on my updates, as I spent some time to write them up.
Looking forward to our off-season as well Not quite sure which direction we take. Got some ideas in my mind, but transfers can be a bit** sometimes, so I won't go for just one plan. We will present our new kit and maybe a few rumors soon. Thanks for stopping by. WCC had always some love from me, I followed Brenton Jones few notable results with interest.
