I see no Gesink, but he's climbing like an angel this year.
Also, why no votes for Sastre? As a climber, he's one of the most talented and consistent there is. Soler doesn't know what he's doing yet. |

Gesink rode well in Cali, but that still wasn't enough, and I posted this thread before his ride today with Cadel.
Also, although he is a great rider, I would still put Dekker before him, as Gesink could just be (and in my view is) in great form while some of the other riders are saving up for the Grand Tours and Olympics. |

Also, Soler is a great climber, no matter what anybody says. He may be a little hyped, but I still think he is one of the top 15 in the world. |

Agreed 100%

Again, fully agreed. But it's normal. Whenever someone comes along and has one great stage, usually people tend to hype them up a lot. Especially climbers. And the worst bit is they don't come down to earth soon. People are still overrating them years later when they still have shown nothing else.
Not saying it'll be the case with Soler, but I'm tired of this happening with 2/3 guys every year.

Yeah, i'm hoping that the three guys I consider to be the top 3 young climbers in the world right now - Andy Schleck, Gesink, and Soler all turn out to fulfill their promise. All three have had great performances - Gesink: Cali and Ventoux, Andy: White in the Tour, and Soler: Polka Dots in the Tour, and have the ability to become great. But all three are now being really hyped. |

Note: Their are some other guys, like Juan Cobo and Riccio (Sanuier Duval fans rejoice) who also look like they could be great in the future. |

The worst part is that none of those names inspire any confidence in me.
That makes me feel really bad

Cobo and Riccò....uhhh....Saunier....just look at that team. Riccò even tested positive IN JUNIORS. You have to be really pushing for that to happen.
Gesink...uhm...let's look at his team leaders to see who he has to look up to: Menchov rode for Banesto, Flecha as well plus Fassa Bortolo, Dekker worked with Cecchini, Freire with Ferrari and rode for Mapei. His team DS Breukink is a notorious former doper, he's surrounded of former riders of the extremely trust-able (*cough cough*) Quickstep, Unibet and Skil-Shimano teams. There's not much chance he's not doing the same they all are.
Schleck...It's Riis' team, they've had a bunch of riders caught in previous years, a lot of them are doubtful, and the guy (Damsgaard) who is supposed to be the saint who administers their anti-doping programme is a guy who's been to jail more than once. Yeah, real trustworthy Damsgaard. A guy who only got started in anti-doping work as a punishment, community service. Shocking.
Soler....he comes from a country where every rider dopes (Colombia), he rides for an italian team where a lot of suspicious riders are and he comes out of nowhere with awesome performances.
It's sad, but I really don't trust any of them and I don't feel I have even the slightest reason to trust them.

Barloworld is British/South African, and although their are a lot of question marks, I'm willing to go with the Innocent until proven guilty route. |

The licence is british. The same way that Ceramica Panaria has an irish license. see any irish people on the team? nope. The sponsor is south african along with 2/3 riders.
All the staff, mechanics, soigneurs, DSs, etc are italian along with more than half the riders.
As for being guilty, two words: Claudio Corti

very true. I couldn't give a rat's ass for the dopers' health, but I do feel sorry for those who are clean and would win if everyone was clean, but they don't. For those I feel sorry

It's just a license, doesn't mean anything about the team
Astana's license was Swiss last year.
Tenax is italian and also has an irish license
A lot of teams are in that situation. Saunier used to have a swiss license as well.

No idea. their website only mentions italian stuff plus the acquisition of several companies in the portuguese market "one of the world's largest" (news to me)

2/3 -> two or three
In what are they south african? they're based in italy, most people are italian, most races they ride are in italy, the adopted language within the team is italian....so what's south african about them?
