I didn't see any stage but in the key stage of the race i was told by a certain Mr.Quinta, that writes for a certain cycling news website, that Plaza completely owned Contador in every single stage when Plaza attacked... I found it weird too but i've seen weirder things come true so...
Nine kilometres before the finish line, the motorcyclist who directed the race lost his way and a group with leader Iván Gutiérrez (Caisse d'Epargne) and Alberto Contador (Astana) followed, parallel to the race route. It was a dangerous situation as the motorway was not blocked to normal auto traffic. One kilometre before the finish, the group was able to join the official route, but they no longer had a chance to reach Plaza and Vázquez. The two Spaniards finished the stage in a sprint; Vázquez was faster than Plaza, but Plaza became the new leader of the Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana.
Caisse d'Epargne's Iván Gutiérrez lost the lead of the Vuelta a Valenciana on Thursday after the group he was in was led off course by the motorcycle official in the final five kilometres of the third stage. The chasing group of 25 riders was bearing down on two escapees, Manuel Váquez (Contentpolis-Murcia) and Rubén Plaza (Benfica), and had brought the gap down to less than twenty seconds when they were led the wrong way at a roundabout and onto a highway which was filled with rush-hour traffic.
In a dangerous and chaotic few minutes, the groups raced on parallel roads until the chasing group reached the next exit where it rejoined the race route for the final two kilometres, but Váquez and Plaza were able to stay away.Váquez took the stage victory and Plaza overtaking Gutiérrez on the general classification.
The lost chance to overtake the breakaway all but dashed the overall classification hopes of the yellow jersey Gutiérrez as well as Astana's Alberto Contador.
I don't know what race Mr. Quinta saw, but it wasn't this one. Plaza was in the breakaway of the day and the peloton wasn't worried because the break was being caught easily. then that happened, otherwise Gutierrez would've won the overall.
And in case anyone is thinking "Gutierrez? well then the race must've not been very contested", I can assure you Gutierrez is a very underrated rider who would be a classics leader on a few teams. (except in time trials. he's massively overrated in those)

I somehow feel that you find some kind of confort on knowing that Plaza only won the race that way, seeing as how he is one of the envolved in the Puerto case (although he was sacked by Caisse for signing the biological passport) and races for the pesty little team, am I right?

The alternative would be Gutierrez or Contador winning, so I really couldn't care less which dopehead won

Vázquez only won because the peloton went down the wrong road, so he doesn't deserve it

But he would still manage to make it into the top 5...
Off-topic: What do you think? Was he offside?

He was as offside as Induráin was clean

The time gaps between the Top-6 were minimal so every rider that was able to enter it should be considered a favourite...
10 points are still good, assuming Benfica wins tomorrow...

Ok, lets compare his result with Contador's and JIG's results...
In that stage, Contador and JIG lost 30 seconds to Vazquez and the final time gap between the two of them and Vazquez was 30 seconds... So it would have been pretty close between them and he would have had a good chance of winning...

Teams have agreed to ride Paris-Nice, under some conditions which ASO agreed with.
UCI first said they wouldn't send their commissaries, as the race will be organised by the French Federation of Cycling (FFC). Neither will they take the charge of antidoping controls.
So, the French federation said they would bring their own judges and commissaries, whereas the French governement will organise antidoping tests.
This pissed the UCI, which threatened all involved people. FFC will bring its eldest judges, as sending younger ones could harm their future international career as commissaries.
As it's not enough UCI has now sent an email to all the riders, threatening them to be suspended during the following six months, and forbidden to take part in the Olympic Games as well as in the World Championships.
Is McQuaid committing suicide ? What next ? |

.. meaning that some teams have pulled some of their riders from the race, including Phillipe Gilbert. |

Now... Imagine the second, third and fourth races organised by ASO this season, after Paris-Nice. Same thing happens, and it's not 8 or 9 riders from every team that will get suspended, but the whole teams.
Would the season stop pronto for 6 months or would UCI have to admit their defeat and stop the riders suspensions ? |

i cant see many of the PT teams pulling out of the ASO races so yeah... either the UCI backs down or cycling grinds to a halt mid season over a stupid dispute

In other news:
CPA, the riders' organisation, has now demanded that the teams sign some sort of contract which states that the teams will pay all kind of expenses that the riders may have during this fight between ASO and UCI. |

In danish news:
The list of teams in this years Post Danmark Rundt (sorta):
Team CSC (Denmark)
Liquigas (Italy)
Team High Road (USA)
SilenÂce Lotto (Belgiu,)
Team Slipstream (USA)
Team Barloworld (UK)
CFS Group - Navigare (Italy)
Topsport Vlaanderen (Belgium)
Team Elk Haus (Austria)
Skil Shimano (Netherlands)
Landbouwkrediet Tönissteiner (Belgium)
Team Post Danmark (Danish national team)
+ three danish continental teams.
I think it could be a more interesting race this year as opposed to last years CSC dominance. Presuming of course that some of those continental teams bring their A-game.

McQuaid has said it very clearly now: All teams that take part in Paris-Nice will be thrown out and suspended from UCI. |

I dont know what to say really. But the ASO/UCI split might just be complete if all the teams invited to Paris-Nice actually does show up to the race.

McQuaid is commiting UCI suicide.
Anyone willing to bet on whether or not the race will be held and with which teams ? |
