TRANSFERS15 - POZZOVIVO ADDED
After a few days of waiting, the Oz Cycling Project can finally announce it's next signing(s) today. Let's start with the next stage racer after landing Lachlan Morton earlier this week: Domenico Pozzovivo will become a member of our team, accepting a heavy paycut from last year's big deal with Kappa.
Pozzovivo, who will be our most promising GC rider next year, won't be amongst the division's very best climbers. But we still hope that he can add some decent results and points towards our tough mission to avoid relegation. His rather low wage is definitely a nice bonus and we're happy to have another Italian veteran on board. Giovanni Visconti had just good things to say about Oz.
Stay tuned for more news over the day. Some will leave Oz, two more pre-season targets will join Oz!
Domenico Pozzovivo | 33 years old | XP: 4.100 | Wage: 250,000€

So nice to see a cheering photo of him, Forza Pozzovivo!

Impressive name to add to the list, and not too expensive, too! |

Thanks, guys. Pretty happy with Pozzovivo. No top material for PT, but coming with a nice wage and adding some points for sure

TRANSFERS15 - BURGHARDT JOINS OZ
After realizing that someone like Taylor Phinney would be too expensive for Oz's manager's liking, the team quickly went for one of it's biggest targets in free agency: Marcus Burghardt - German veteran and premium cobbler, though lacking extraordinary results in the past years.
The Oz Cycling Project found some love for cobbles last season, where Giovanni Visconti and Jesus Del Nero delivered us some nice results on a terrain, which we completely ignored in our first two years. With Burghardt added, it's pretty obvious that we have to target for a few of the biggest races on the calendar. "It's those races, people enjoy watching the most. It's the most epic races. It's true cycling. It will be exciting to see Marcus fighting his way there - completely on his own, but we believe!", said manager TS Moha on today's press conference.
Paris - Roubaix, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Strada Appia.. here we come!
Marcus Burghardt | 32 years old | XP: 4.100 | Wage: 590,000€
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FI | DH | PRL | 79 | 72 | 72 | 64 | 80 | 76 | 74 | 84 | 69 | 75 | 74 | 65 | 64 |

TRANSFERS15 - BENNETT OUT, HOFF COMES IN
After missing out on Steele Von Hoff through free agency, the Oz Cycling Project still landed it's transfer target by a deal that saw George Bennett leaving our team after three years. An additional fee of 800,000€ may help our manager to upgrade our roster in several ways.
"It's hard to see Georgy leaving. I like him both as a rider and a person and he's been our first quality signing back in 2012. But as things stood prior to the transfer season, he was one of only a few riders with a certain value for transfers, you know", said manager TS Moha today: "I will miss him and follow closely. I won't rule out that we will see him coming back down under."
With Von Hoff the team acquired not only a strong leadout for Matthew Goss, but also a solid sprinter, who will be eligible for the team's appearances in HC races next year: "With a sprinter-friendly band we got - including our home race (DUC) - we tried to sign Von Hoff for this specific reason. He may be in the mix for a few points there, I believe."
Steele Von Hoff | 28 years old | XP: 4.100 | Wage: 150,000€
FL | MO | HI | TT | STA | RES | REC | COB | SP | ACC | FI | DH | PRL | 71 | 62 | 66 | 65 | 71 | 74 | 77 | 61 | 79 | 77 | 65 | 69 | 65 |

Despite missing a big leader, you're building quite a nice team.

I really like the way you do this. Burghardt should be a great leader for the cobbles on a very reasonable wage! Pozzovivo and especially Morton are great Transfers as well

Absolutely. You should be doing very well, and I can easily spot 5 teams that should be worse off than you, which means you have done extremely well as a promoted team. I wouldn't be surprised if you find yourself safe in the midtable - Around top 10 even seems realistic.

No doubt I'll be rooting for Oz this season. I'd like to follow Von Hoff to see what I'm missing out on.

Burghardt will definitely fight for some nice victories. What a strong rider! Only his sprinting could be a handicap in the finale. Other than that, he's great! |

Thanks, guys! Not as optimistic as SotD, but nice to read such a positive comment
Still happy with our additions so far. Riders I used to like irl, so it's a likeable team for me.

Very likeable team, I think you've got a pretty good chance of meeting your goals for the next season at least.

Thanks, Eden. Hopefully we will achieve at least two goals, while not missing out too hard on the others

On the team #2012-2014 (loaned out in 2013)
Age | 21 (when joining the team)
Wage | 375.000€ (in his best season)
Role | Climber (MO 76, HI 74, REC 77 at his best)
When George Bennett joined our project back in 2012, he was the best paid rider in our crappy team. Together with Jack Bobridge, the young Kiwi was meant to be the future of Oz Cycling. He spent a rather quiet, but not too disappointing first season with us: scoring one of only a few stage-wins for our team in Japan and doing quite well in the Tour de l'Avenir (adding another stage there).
Just like Bobridge, also Bennett did then spend a year in ProTour with Simply Red Bull. A much needed season to gain experience ended with a rather disappointing 5th place in his last Avenir appearance.
Back with Oz in 2014, a heavily rebuilt team would enter a season with as less mountains as possible. New good news for Bennett, who wouldn't become that "face" of Oz Cycling, which he was meant to be two years back. Anyway, George proved his value with a stunning victory in Berlin and a few more notable results. Still the question remained, whether he would fit into the team's plan for 2015.
He didn't eventually. Joining a climber-friendly Project: Africa (PCT) now, Bennett will be followed closely by Oz. All the best, George.
