Word is Froomey has a chest infection, which is not ridiculous at all in my mind. Common issue and i guess he wouldn't want to go against the other big guys at anything less than full fitness if he can help it.

At least that makes the velogames selection way easier...

As for Kittel I suppose it sounds legit to pull out with illness because the sprint stages are first up but for Froome.exe chest infection? Really? When the first real test for GC contenders is on saturday. So 6 days to get better from today. I call bullsh*t. He could easily ride through it on flat stages and get better by then. |

Well he's already gone up against Contador this season and won, plus the Tour is many months away still. Tirreno is a better guide for Catalunya, Basque and into the Ardennes. Might as well drop out and recover properly and keep the more immediate pre-Tour schedule protected.
Why ride some hard stages, whilst ill, and risk making yourself worse? He'd get to Saturday weak and not compete and gain nothing and potentially miss a couple of weeks afterwards whilst he fully recovers.
To me it makes great sense to drop out. Same for Kittel who'll be looking at MSR. Cav's is the odd one out to continue, so perhaps he isn't that ill.

Illness really seems to be taking it's toll this year, Roelandts and Greipel out of Omloop and KBK and now Froome and Kittel pulling out of Tirreno with illness |

Implying Nibali is in decent form to battle for victory.
With Froome gone it's Contador vs. Quintana. |

Apparently its some sort of 'illness'
Which equals he wouldnt pass a test as his cycles were off. |

Could be the reason, the jury is still out on if last season was a fluke with way too many incideents/suspicious withdrawals etc., but if this continues..
Anyways after they removed the TTT and Froome is out, this seems like a lock now. Quintana would have to gain approximately 1 minutes which he wont and I dont believe in Nibbles. Only one left is Uran, but Contador wont go easy on him on the climb |
