Not a big event but the Womens Tour of New Zealand is currently underway. Team USA beat Team Australia in the opening TTT. The USA then delivered Lauren Hall to victory on Stage 2, before Katrin Garfoot struck back for Oz on Stage 3. Two stages to go

Stage 4 of the Womens Tour of New Zealand went back to Team USA and Tayler Wiles, taking a 6" GC lead into the final stage XD

Lauren Hall completes a great race for Team USA winning stage 5. Tayler Wiles sticks in the front group to defend her GC lead and claim the title for USA.

The mens race was Sky-Etixx-Etixx-Etixx.... thus the Womens race predicted this with Rabo-Boels-Boels-Boels
Anna van der Breggen out sprinting Ellen Van Djik. Not hugely surprsing result, both are excellent cobbles riders. Lizzie Armistead sprtined to complete the podium ahead of Chantal Blaak. Tiffany Cromwell ever conistent and present was 5th. Pre-race a lot of focus was on Amy Pieters who could only manage 7th.
Next up is Le Samyn, and now just 1 week to the Strade Bianhce!

Chantal Blaak get's some payback for Boels from the weekend, as she won Le Samyn des Dames (mostly the same route). Weekend winner Van der Breggen was 2nd and Emma Johansson 3rd. Cobbles are looking quite open so far, should be interesting once the bigger races come around.

Megan Guarnier attacked from quite a way out to win the first ever Womens Strade Bianche solo! Hugely impressive ride from here. Lizzie Armisted showing good form in 2nd for a Boels 1-2 finish. Elisa Longo-Borghini made sure at least an Italian made the podium.
Really good race with plenty of hard racing and not the big favorites just waiting for the final climb.

Brilliant race! Loads of attacking after the cobbles split up the peloton. Ale Cipollini managed to pull two front groups together ~4/5km from the line. Wiggle-Honda took over and dominated the run-in to a sprint finish. Perfect set-up for Jolien d'Hoore to win the race

World Cup round 2, Trofeo Alfredo Binda. Fantastic race, full of atacks and action as normal. The final lap especially was brilliant.
Lizzie Armitstead wins a 6-man sprint ahead of Rabo's Ferrand-Prevot and van der Breggen in 2nd and 3rd. Massive shoutout to Neff who is actually a MTB rider who was able to stick with the very best and decended better than anyone.

I like the fact that women cycling seems to be like old school men cycling with all the good riders not really having a real speciality. Whatever the terrain, you seem to get the same names at the top of the classification. |

I agree, and Marianne Vos is Eddy Merckx |

Please! Merckx wishes he was Vos
The Energiewacht Tour is making all the headlines in the post World Cup week. Breaking serious ground it is the first Womens stage race to show all stages live. On the flip side Bigla cycling team pulled out this morning in protest over the fees teams have to pay to take part in the race.
They've also got a great site https://www.energiewachttour.nl/index....ex.php/en/

My favorite girls at Velocio-SRAM smashed the Stage 2a TTT this morning. Covering the 15.1km course at 50.3km/h! Super fast time that could be key to a good GC result

The winds whipped up and shook up the race today. Kirsten Wild takes a big win for Hitec! Brennauer and Worrack now have a bit of breathing room for Velocio, but plenty of shuffling behind.
