Nice change that my GC leader is finally not the one from my team who is losing time in these types of stages. Actually he was the only one from my team who was in that first group, nice job Rujano.

Congrats SN.
As with some others here I'm actually not disappointed that all of my riders have lost time. It means the several mid range climbers I have here might take a shot at breaks or the mountain jersey.

Rough to see splits already, but glad Denifl didn't get caught out.
Very interesting field. A little afraid to see the lineup for the Tour, but this does present a very solid opportunity to Denifl to have a solid showing.
SN- huge props for going for a second GT on end.

I will take that - no cheap time lost and whilst santos was nowhere near the sprint we do not really expect him to be there. Alarcon was in front group so no problems.
Heh I have been drinking too
(Swift won ... Fiiiix )
Alarcon being in the best group in wind echelons. Yeah.
That was first thing that popped to my mind after seeing the front group names. It is just random.
Congrats to Vesuvio, what a leadout from Pokerstars.

Echelons in the first stage already? This should be interesting! Nice to start the race with my leader in the front group.

Kinda strange to think about, but I'm glad my riders lost time today. Hopefully this means some of them are allowed to go in a break or 2

Just my thinking.
In especially as most lost a lot of time.
Olivier, Bongiorno, Reguigui all might want to try it.
Thurau as best option though only lost 1'30 unfortuantely. He should have lost more. |

I guess my biggest weakness in sprinting is the train, somehow they tend to fall apart quickly leading into bad positioning.

The bigger problem may be that in GTs the peloton tend to start chasing as soon as more than 3 riders have attacked. Hence the small sized breakaways seen in the Giro and now here, so it is extra luck if you get into the break.
It changes a bit in the Mountains as the peloton doesnt seem to chase those who get away after a KoM attack, so we get larger breakaways.
Stage 1 was pretty fun to watch, with echelons everywhere. So much so that I forgot to take any good screenshots of the chaos
Of course I enjoyed the Stage 1 result too, but Pokerstars are really bossing the leadouts in these first two stages, leading to something I wasn't sure would ever happen: GT stage win for Mohs

Gomez Marchante this time staying in the front group is good.
But with a 77/78/78 sprinting trio here I had expected a bit more to be honest. Guardini was in the front group and should have tried to enter the top10.
Thurau though was listening to the tactics this time losing some time for a breakaway attempt. |

This is one of memorable moments in Man-Game history
I´m happy that sacriface of Degenkolb as a lead-out man already paid off!! His podium in opening stage plus wearing white jersey is nice bonus.
Roche lost more time today, I´m rooting for repeating of GM scenario here, this time with Nicolas as a main actor

That was a nice result. Yet again two man in the top 10, and finally a stage podium from Guerao. Also Ratiy was in the first group, which is quite surprising I think. Good start!

Mohs proved me wrong immediately, congratulations, beagle! Roche could very well make it two in a row on stage 3.
Speaking of which, it will probably give us an indication who is up for this vuelta and who is not. For Contador it is all about following and not lose any time to the greatest favourites for the overall win. |

Like ember said, the next stage is an interesting atypical vuelta stage of flat then hill. Should suit Roche and valv, it will be interesting to see if anyone can break swifts lead.
Just hoping Jose can minimise time losses.

If you don't have at least 80 in sprint then you won't even be close at this level it seems.
Really surprising to see Mohs taking a GT stage win, congrats beagle.
