Meh, after all he wasn't that far off from Martin a few days ago. But the route looks more for guys like Cance and Gilbert this year, so its probably a wise decision when its said and done. I would have preferred to see him at the ITT though, without a question.
And whats up with that. I expected to see at least a as hard route as last year giving the fact that Rodriguez, Valverde and Contador will like that and thus improve their chances of winningNow, its basically free for everyone. Some might argue that thats how the WC route should be, but..
I wish Ponferrada was a tougher course too, but Purito & Valv had a tailor-made route last year and they blew it. Peloton is too big to just focus on getting another climber/puncheur. It is surprising though that in Spain, where they like to make courses for their home guys, it's a relatively open course.
Cance doing only WC RR is understandable and best decision he could make.
So, basically, we are agreeing?
But yeah, I'm a climber-guy. On paper, the route looks dull, but at least its not Copenhagen 2011. Thats something I guess.. |

Of course, arn't we most of the time on the same side? Just though I'd share my opinion.

For me the route is like 2010 WC in Geelong.I would say a reduced group sprint
Matthews,Sagan
Can Kristoff,Degenkolb and Bouhanni pass the hills.I think they will survive the hills.

There will be attacks, and they won't be able to follow the punchers. The route is similar to last year's, and probably the results as well. |

I've got a feeling both winners will be called Martin...

The route ain't similar as last year. The first climb is +/- 4km but with an average of 2/3%. So it's nothing to fear for types like Degenkolb, Sagan, Boonen,... The second climb is 1km at an average of 5% with a max of 7%. Not steep enough for riders like Rodriguez, Gilbert, Valverde,... to make a big difference. Last year's last climb was very hard with very steep percentages. I think it will be a bunch sprint. |

Yeah, change the rules every four years, because you dont like the winner of the competition. Seems legit
Peter will win it with any rules if he will go for it, so i am already tuned for that Prudhomme trolling by Oleg and Sagan.

yeah, I would think that too if that would be the reason (not liking the winner) but methinks it's mostly because said rider didn't win any stage or the get the exitement back into that classification (because this years was just a joke in exitement) |

If I were to change the competition I would put less points on the intermediate sprints, and maybe put more on the finish |

Well, Specialized renews with Tinkoff-Saxo.
Czech Republic's selection for Ponferrada:
Zdenek Stybar
Jan Barta
Petr Vakoc
Konig won't be there because the route is too easy for him.
Kreuziger because he is suspended.

Valentin Iglinskiy tested positive for EPO at Eneco Tour 2014. Already admitted he took it by himself without any involvement from the team.

Was he in his last contract year?
Otherwise this just shows unfortunately that not only the very top might still go the wrong way. |

Irish team for the worlds:
Road Race:
Philip Deignan (Team Sky)
Daniel Martin (Garmin-Sharp)
Nicholas Roche (Tinkoff-Saxo)
Time Trial:
Nicolas Roche (Tinkoff-Saxo)
Reserve:
Sam Bennett (NetApp-Endura)
Surprised tbh that Bennett isn't in the starting team, given that it might end in a reduced bunch sprint. Obviously they reckon the route will be pretty tricky.
Of course Ireland only getting a three man team is ridiculous, but well.

Kristjan Kumar, 18 year old talent tested positive for EPO. Kumar won this years Trofeo Karlsberg, one of the biggest junior races.

I'm to lazy to translate it myself, so here is the article on english (Google translate)
Doping ghost haunts again sport. This time in the form of the 18-year-old Slovene Kristjan Kumar, who d. June 22 tested positive for EPO. It was the last day of the German stage race Trofeo Karlsberg that sloveneren delivered a positive doping test.
Kumar went and won the race after he made two days earlier had won the second stage. Sloveneren is also also been number 9 in both the European Championship Road Race and the time trial, but these results will probably be taken from him when the races were run by d. 22 June.

This is the new list of all the provisionally suspended riders.

There is also Benedetti, stage winner at the Tour de Beauce. It's the second time he test positive and guess what? he's a close friend of Riccò
Still no mention of Ulissi |

Uhm not actually sure. His deal back to Astana was a weird one. They signed him to keep Maxim happy, if not Maxim he would have never been back, but since Maxim is the biggest Kazakh rider he demanded to have his bro back in the team

Also, 9th place in the Tour de Langwaki, Vahid Ghaffari, who rides for Tabriz Petrochemical, tests positive too. What a surprise

Wasn't it like Vino said to Maxim that if he wins a certain race he'll sign his brother, or is this just some cycling myth?
Kumar taking EPO at the age of 18... jeez... that's quite shocking.
