Well, I like Contador because of his mentality, personality, panache, riding, even the cheesy pistolero salute, basically because he's pretty amazing in my humble opinion... It's usual stuff that makes people like, appreciate or dislike someone, and I don't see why it shouldn't hold up for cyclists too. For me, those supposedly dark sides just get outweight by other factors sometimes, and it's not like Contador murdered someone or something like that, so I think that "all is forgiven" is quite exaggerated honestly.

Monfort is not even riding Tour this year (unless it's a last minute change of plans).
Garmin brings a new first-time top10 finisher to TdF pretty much every year since they rode this race for the first time. Who could that be this year? Slagter? Acevedo? Dennis? (for that reason, I conclude every single prediction in this thread is wrong, since doesn't include any first-time top10 finisher from Garmin )
Oh well, I forgot Dan Martin. It's likely him if he can recover after Giro.

Froome has all of the above yet most don't like him just because his style looks worst i actually think his style is fine i enjoy watching him climb with brute power. And hey Froome attacks just as much as Contador(which is why most like AC as he as always been an attacker). |

Dont agree that Froome has any of what makes Contador likeable, and to top if off he has made it so clear that he is not riding clean that there is not a single doubt left, and the arrogance he has now after he won is insane.
Also the way he rides is boring and he rides more on the others weakness than he does his own strengths, opposite you have Contador, Rodriguez, Valverde, Nibali who when they ride ride like there is no tomorrow and when they win, they win on their own strengths and they let everyone know it.
So please dont compare froome to Contador, the two are in two different leagues, Contador the likeable humble guy opposite you have the arrogant "temp-british" who thinks he is gods gift to cycling. |

The "all is forgiven" is not a exaggeration as I'm only talking in a cycling context not the real world
Thank you for explaining why you like him and it's understandable given those reasons, he has a good racing brain proven when he won that Vuelta on his return but I just look at Contador and wonder if it's actually reality so it bugs me a whole lot (same goes for most riders).

I like seeing Froome not being picked as winner by a few people. And am really hoping for a Mollema Top 5.

Well, top two is easy. Rest, might be close. Though I think Valverde has an edge for that 3rd place.
1. Vroome Vroome
2. Alberto "Please, give me more steak so I can kick Froome's arsehole" Contador
3. Alejandro "Piti" Valverde
4. Andrew "Out of Nowhere" Talansky
5. Richie "I helped Froome and still got top 5" Porte
6. Vincenzo "Disappointment" Nibali
7. Tejay "ALELUIA" Van Garderen
8. Thibaut "I learned to descend" Pinot
9. Rui "I love you" Costa
10. Roman "I punctured and lost minutes" Kreuziger
Points
Peter "I clean everything" Sagan
KOM
Tiago "I dream about it" Machado
Should be a fun Tour. I'm praying per god Froome doesn't loose time in the cobbles. |

From Froomies Book I think I'll start naming my strava rides with Froome quotes
@Ivantheterrible: Meh, Froome's a bad winner and he's shown that with this hollywood-flick called The Climb. He has character traits I don't admire, and has no class in my opinion. Shame you can't add the virtues of a champion with transfusions.
@Strydz: For the record, I think many people don't like Contador one tiny bit. Because of past success, misdeeds, doping, pistolero salute et cetera. So, none is forgiven. Every steak joke is a sign of that.
Looking back at many ocassions, I think many cycling fans rooted for him because he has been the lesser of two evils for them (Rasmussen, Armstrong, Froome). He's also the most successful Grand Tour rider of this century so far, so of course, he's naturally popular among cycling fans. Me personally, I just like Bertie, can't help myself.
