It is such a shame, he showed so much ability in the 2008 TDF but it goes to show that a bit of bad luck with crashes and injuries can ruin this career. It is sad to see him leave

Just wondering, what do you think about Boasson Hagens apparent move to BMC? Nothing is comfirmed yet, but at the moment it seems like he will leave Sky and join a different team and BMC is the only one that is mentioned.
I think moving away from Sky might be a good thing for EBH. Sure, Sky is a big team, but he seems to have become a bit to satisfied with being a helper and only be allowed to go for himself now and then.
That being said, BMC might not be the best choice in my book, I'm not 100% sure he would play anything else than second fiddle, albeit a bigger fiddle than at Sky.
All in all, I think he's abit to happy being a small fish in a big pond. Moving to a smaller one might do him good. Because, let's face it; the gyu doesn't have all that much to show after all these years.

Granted his last couple of seasons (2012 + 2013) have not been outstanding, and he is not the all-round super talent people expected, but his Palmares is superior to probably 70% of the pro peloton, especially at only 26.
At Sky he is mostly forced into a support role at the big races, aiding the bigger GC riders to their wins. Smaller races he does pretty well for himself, and i think if he was given more chances to lead at Sky he would be closer to that big name star that was expected.
BMC is an interesting move. With GVA, Phinney, Gilbert and more he certainly won't be moving forwads. I think he'd be utilized even more as a helper because of BMC's increased all-round capacity in comparison to Sky. He should move onwards as he can still grow into a real winning rider but where to is hard to know. Ultimately he has a big juicy contract with Sky, and whoever takes him on will probably be overpaying which limits the options to BMC and maybe 2-3 other teams.
EBH will go. There is no question about it. Said it since at least December. He earns too much for what he produces in term of results in simplest terms.

After what I has heard a new contract with Sky would mean a omewhat significant reduction in pay, making other teams more competitive when it comes to wages.

Marc de Maar won't start in the Tour of California. His work visa wasn't correct so he had to go to prison. It was for a part his fault, because he didn't pick it up. But he said the he normally doesn't do that.
Garate got a new contract from Belkin but he refused to sign that contract, because his salary got cut by 50(?)% or something. His old contract ends at the end of this year. Belkin didn't want him to race because he didn't sign his new contract, while Garate says that his old contract is still valid and that he still may race. The judge has decided that Garate has to sign his new contract, but I don't know if Garate accepts this judgement or that he'll appeal.
